StopScamsSF Listen and Learn Workshop

StopScamsSF is the nation's first city-led program dedicated to protecting residents from financial scams. Led by the Treasurer's Office's Economic Justice Center, the initiative is hosting Listen and Learn Sessions to educate the community on the most common scams and tactics scammers use to target residents. During these sessions, participants will have the chance to share their own experiences and feedback — input that helps shape how the city responds to and addresses scams going forward. **Presenter bio:** Mandy Ngu, Community Engagement Specialist. Mandy serves as the Community Engagement Specialist for the Office of Financial Empowerment. She previously worked in the Mayor's Office, where she partnered with community leaders and nonprofit organizations to host cultural celebrations and strengthen connections between local government and San Francisco's diverse communities. She later joined the Department of Public Health's communications team, supporting leadership messaging, media events, and internal communications. Mandy earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from San José State University. **California Dance Photography Workshop** **Hosted by Ashleigh Wilson and Alexandra FitzGibbon** **“Shoot-n-Shoot” San Francisco Edition** Ready to get your creative juices flowing? A unique opportunity to shoot dancers in a place unlike any dance or photo studio, we welcome our collaborators at The Hall, the newest swankiest Billiards Hall in San Francisco! This classy space has a mixture of natural light via large skylights, moody lighting near the bar, and fresh pool tables galore. Come shoot our dancers shooting pool while challenging your skill sets to work with different types of lighting. **Dance Models:** 1. Alonzo King's LINES Ballet, and former Dance Theatre of Harlem dancer ***Amanda Smith*** @theamandasmithh 2. Woodworking Workshop

-please read the whole updated description!- Come to work on your own projects and get some feedback from your fellow woodchucks. We have a planer, drill presses, hand tools, a table saw, and much more! ###################### **starting June 8 we will be taking a break from the intensive power tool trainings provided in previous sessions.** For the next few weeks we want to use wood night as a time for actively working on projects and designing ideas for your projects. Happy to help with some guided use of the tools, but for now no full training will be offered. If you are new to the woodshop you are still welcome to join, just know that we will not provide a full training on the tools. If you have significant experience using a Tablesaw, mitre saw, planer etc then this should not be an issue. We do have some scrap wood available, but bringing some wood for your project, especially if it is larger or more crafty, is highly encouraged. We recommend getting your wood at Lowe’s (cheaper) Discount builders supply (closer to NB) or Beronio (higher quality and carry lots of hardwoods). Please feel free to ask questions on the discord if you are unsure about what to get for your project.

Online Spanish Bilingual SF Toastmasters Weekly Meeting

During the Shelter in Place, we will be celebrating meetings through Zoom. You can submit your request to attend here or on our website. Join us every Thursday for this unique Toastmasters meeting in two languages! Every meeting is two meetings in one: an English segment, followed by a Spanish segment. Each segment is approximately 30-45 minutes, or 90 minutes total, adjourning promptly at 8:00pm. Each segment includes: * 1-2 prepared speeches (5-7 minutes) * Formal speech evaluations (2-3 minutes) * Impromptu speaking opportunities (Table Topics, 2-3 minutes) * Reports: Grammarian, Ah Counter, Timer (1-3 minutes) * After meetings, many of us go to a nearby restaurant for food and drinks. Improv Jam in Person

We warm up with improv games, then do improvised scenes with various partners. This is a fun and supportive environment open to all. This jam takes place at Montclair Presbyterian. The church parking lot is at Grisborne Ave (Western end) and Thornhill Dr. There is street parking closer to the church entrance. There is no public transportation to Montclair on Sunday. Message the host to arrange a ride from the 40th St. BART station. There is a 7-Eleven, a gas station and a sandwich shop within a couple of blocks. This event happens once a month on the third Sunday. Cost is $20 sliding scale. Limited to 16 people.

Let's Improvise: Improv Dojo - Oakland Improv Class

The Improv Dojo is a place to do improv. It is a chance to play, explore and develop. We explore scene work, theater games and related acting exercises. It is part drop-in class and part practice session. The Improv Dojo is for improvisors ready to explore . Beginning and experienced improvisors welcome. Dojo attendees include Pan troupe members, Dojo regulars and people brand new to improv. Whether you're a beginner looking to try improv for the first time or a more seasoned player looking for a chance to play - the Improv Dojo is for you.
