Are you looking to build confidence, improve your communication skills, and become a better leader—all in a supportive and positive environment? You've found the right place! Inner West Speakers Toastmasters is part of Toastmasters International, a worldwide nonprofit organisation that helps people from all walks of life become more effective and confident speakers. **This meeting is perfect for you if:** * You get nervous speaking in front of groups (or even the thought of it!). * You want to structure your thoughts more clearly and persuasively. * You need to give better presentations at work. * You want to practice thinking on your feet. * You're looking to meet new, ambitious, and friendly people. 🤔 **What to Expect at a Meeting:** Our meetings are fun, structured, and educational. Here’s a typical agenda: 1. **Welcome & Introductions:** A warm welcome from our Toastmaster of the Day. 2. **Prepared Speeches:** 2-3 members deliver speeches from the Toastmasters Pathways learning program. These are crafted, rehearsed, and focused on specific objectives. 3. **Table Topics® Impromptu Speaking:** This is the most exciting part! Volunteers (including guests, only if they want to!) get to practice thinking on their feet by answering a random question in 1-2 minutes. It's a blast and great practice! 4. **Constructive Evaluation:** Every speaker receives thoughtful, positive feedback from an assigned evaluator. This is where the real learning happens! 5. **Awards & Closing:** We recognise the best speakers and evaluators and wrap up the meeting. **As our guest, you can:** * **Just watch and learn.** There is zero pressure to participate. * **Introduce yourself** if you feel comfortable. * **Optionally participate in Table Topics®** if you're feeling brave! ❤️ **Guest Policy:** Guests are always welcome! We'd love to have you. 💰 **Cost:** Guests $10 per visit. 📝 **Please RSVP!** Help us plan for seating and materials by clicking"Attend." If you have to cancel, please update your RSVP so someone else can take your spot. ℹ️ **More Info:** * **Club Website:** https://www.toastmasters.org/Find-a-Club/00007522-inner-west-speakers * **Questions?** Email us at: iws-membership@outlook.com We can't wait to meet you and help you on your journey to becoming a confident communicator!

Words on Tap

Words on Tap

Wed, Aug 5, 9:00 AM
From Words On Tap

Are you working on a manuscript, short story, memoir, or idea that’s been simmering in your notebook or laptop? This group is for emerging writers and storytellers who want a supportive place to share their work and connect with like-minded creatives. Each MeetUp we offer the opportunity (optional, never pressured) for you to read a short excerpt of your work of up to 800 words in a safe, encouraging environment. This is not a critique group and not a workshop—it's about being heard, building confidence, and finding motivation through community. We will be meeting in the upstairs bar at The Flat Rock Brew Café, 290 Willoughby Rd, Naremburn NSW 2065, the first Wednesday of each month—a relaxed, welcoming space to talk writing, listen to stories, and nurture the creative process. (Many thanks to the Flat Rock Brew Café management - who have generously provided this space). Come along to: * Share your writing in a supportive space * Listen to others, sip a cool ale and get inspired * Connect with fellow writers and storytellers * Nuture your creativity and develop your author’s profile You’re welcome whether you want to read, listen, or simply be around people who “get it.” All writing styles and experience levels are welcome. And this is a free event.
