You will design and create your own character mask in a hands-on and creative way.** **Guardians are masks with presence—imagined characters that accompany and bring personality to a space**. You can create a small or large mask, designed either to wear or to hang. **Day 1:** Inspiration & Mask Building *"In Japan, masks often embody transformation, character, and symbolic presence.* *In the Andes, masks connect animals, imagination, and collective storytelling (...)"* We begin with a visual introduction to mask-making across cultures, exploring how artists draw inspiration from celebrations, nature, animals, and imaginary characters to create expressive forms. You’ll bring your own idea (or choose from a selection of references) to design your Guardian character. You can choose between different formats — wearable masks or small sculptural faces for the wall — working with accessible materials such as recycled cardboard, papier-mâché, fabric, and mixed textures. **Day 2:** Painting & Finishing In the second session, we bring the characters to life through colour, texture, materials and detail. You will choose a colour palette and combine acrylic paints with acrylic markers to create different finishing effects. The workshop closes with a relaxed sharing moment, where participants can present their character and creative process. **All basic materials are included:** *cardboard, paper, paste, papier-mâché, acrylic paints, fabrics, threads, and decorative textures.* You are welcome to bring \*personal materials \* if you wish — colours, fabrics, small objects, or symbolic elements you would like to incorporate into your piece. * Where: At my studio in **10963 Kreuzberg, Berlin**. **Berlin Photography Workshop Day · Ballet & Beauty Studio Sessions** Sunday, 24 May 10:00–17:30 VELT Studio, 10967 Berlin BB Photography Workshops is hosting a small-group studio workshop day in Berlin for photographers who want to build stronger portfolio images in a prepared production environment. The day includes two separate studio sessions: **Ballet Photography · 10:00–13:00** **Beauty Photography · 14:30–17:30** You can join one workshop or book the full-day package. This is not an open group shoot. The lighting setups, art direction, model guidance and shooting flow are prepared before participants arrive. Each photographer receives individual guidance during the session. The workshops are led by Burak Bulut Yıldırım — Sony Europe Imaging Ambassador, award-winning photographer, lighting specialist and photography mentor with more than two decades of professional experience. Art direction is by Meryem Aydın. **WORKSHOP 1 — BALLET PHOTOGRAPHY** 10:00–13:00 This session focuses on movement, timing, body line, light direction and building a coherent dance photography series. We will work with an experienced ballet model in a controlled studio setup. **WORKSHOP 2 — BEAUTY PHOTOGRAPHY** 14:30–17:30 This session focuses on beauty lighting, skin texture, makeup, catchlights, face direction, close-up portraiture, color control and editorial-style image-making. In fact, it would be great to have more people who aren't software engineers. We're here to solve problems cross-functionally, not get into implementation details. I’m organising a coworking + socialising session for all of us who are working on projects (e.g. our own creations, freelance or remote work) but don't feel like sitting alone at home. 🙂 To ensure that we have time for both socialising AND working, we will be using the so-called “Pomodoro” technique: **50 mins deep work** (silent), followed by **10 mins break** to socialise. And then repeat! You are welcome to join whatever your personal background is, and whatever project you are working on. I (the host) speak English and German, so either language is fine. ——————————————————- AGENDA: * **Short Intro** Tell us who you are and share something about what you will be working on today * **Pomodoro Session** \- 3x \(3h\) Each Pomodoro session consists of 50 mins focused “deep work” (no talking, no interruptions, **phones on silent mode**) -> then 10 mins break: a chance to share your progress with others -> Repeat * **15 mins Wrap Up** Celebrate what you achieved and get to know others 😊 ———— The location is **Espresso House near Checkpoint Charlie** (they have multiple outlets - so be sure to go to the correct one!) Wifi + power plugs are available - but best to bring a fully charged laptop, just in case 🙃 You **do not** have to pay anything. It is an undeniable sensation where things seem to be more effortless, pleasurable, in sync, and you can easily sense a connection with something greater than yourself; this is what we will create…: • a connected and mindful meditation where it is possible to blissfully surf the cutting edge of the present moment together… • a game where it’s possible to feel excited and calm in the same moment, and everyone can win as much as they like… Scott Bolden, founder of Das Baumhaus Berlin will share some very easy, practical and effective methods developed during the last 12 years of facilitating the “Improvisational Groove Orchestra” (I.G.O.) improv vocal jam sessions. Within 20 minutes participants learn to use the common sound space to create resonance in the form of improvisational music where it is quite common to experience some real flow moments… It is very easy to participate, no musical talent or training is required so anyone is welcome to join. All of the session is done with eyes closed to avoid visual distractions and keep focus on the co-created sound space.
