Weekly Hikes at Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park

A Sunday at 2:00 PM moderate hike in addition to our regular Wednesday hikes at Redwood Park. This is a mostly shaded, 7 mile, 1000 feet elevation, moderate-paced hike at Oakland's Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park. Enter from Redwood Gate https://goo.gl/maps/PrGuttC8dEnxN1KC9 We meet at Fishway Lot (the first parking lot on the left). Fishway is a small, unpaved lot closest to the entrance gate. Both Park Entry and Parking is free and there are 4 parking lots. At 2:00 pm we start with a meet and greet; and each person gets to share 1 or 2 things that made them happy this week. Please be on time and get to know your new friends during the hike. We leave for the hike at 2:05pm. Route to be determined day of the hike. Hike is about 3 hours. We stop at most trail intersections along the hike to regroup. Please make sure to bring enough water and clothes and respect for everyone and nature. If you cannot make it, please update your RSVP so others can join the hike. Participants assume responsibility for their own safety Doggie friends are currently not part of this group hike.

Sunday Kickball @ Bushrod Park!

BASS presents our favorite event, kickball! We will be at our normal spot in the East Bay at Bushrod Park in Oakland! Bring your soccer cleats (for better grip on the field), sunscreen, and athletic wear and water for a fun time out! For those who haven't played kickball before, the rules will be explained and demonstrated before we start. Depending on the attendance, we'll either have 2 teams facing off or a rotation of 3 teams all together. Then after we may hit the local pizza/bar scene if everyone still wants to hang out. We have a HARD START at 1pm, so please be sure to show up on time for warmups! (We also nearly lost the field previously because not enough people were there on time) See you there soon! 🔴 Note: Please, please, please don’t no show. 🙏 It makes these events really difficult to plan. This trail explores the historic Sutro Baths and offers great views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Pacific Ocean. A must see for any visitor to San Francisco. **Lands End San Francisco** The Coastal Trail at Lands End in San Francisco is a gorgeous spot for hiking, but most visitors to the city don't know it's there. Early History San Francisco was originally inhabited by the Ohlone Indians. An archeological site at Lands End was dated at 150 A.D., but there is evidence that Indians had been living in San Francisco for around 3,000 years. They had seasonal camps where the Sutro Baths ruins are now, eating seafood and hunting seals; archeologists found their garbage dumps, more politely known as middens. Hiking the Lands End Trail The Lands End Coastal Trail is walkway that starts just above the Cliff House, then winds in and out of the woods and along the edge of the bluffs, and ends in a ritzy residential area (Sea Cliff) near China Beach. 🌊**Lands End Trail.** The way down is quite steep, but there is a stairway to follow. It's a small, rocky beach, good for relaxing and watching the breaking waves, but too rough (and cold) for swimming. **🇨🇳 China Beach** is a small, secluded cove located in the Sea Cliff neighborhood of San Francisco, tucked between Lands End and Baker Beach within the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. Key Features & Overview • Views: Offers dramatic, sweeping views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands. • History: Named after the 19th-century Chinese fishermen who used the cove as a Gold Rush-era campsite. A memorial monument honoring these Chinese-American laborers is located near the trailhead. • Amenities: Features a small free parking lot (around 490 Sea Cliff Ave), picnic tables, barbecue grills, restrooms, and cold-water showers. Mile Rock Beach Another branch of the same path will take you down to the mini-beach, Mile Rock Beach, at the foot of Lands End Point. Mile Rock Beach-Tiny, but cool!
