Glen Canyon - Mt Davidson - Laguna Honda - Mt Sutro Hike: 7.3 miles, 1300’ elev

We will be doing a moderately strenuous urban hike in San Francisco starting at the Glen Park BART Station and ending in the Inner Sunset (near 9th Avenue and Irving Street). **This hike is for INTERMEDIATE HIKERS only.** The route will offer a variety of wooded trails and stunning views of the city as we wind through Glen Canyon Park, Mount Davidson, Laguna Honda, Mount Sutro and the lively Inner Sunset. The 7.3 mile trek will involve ascending 1,300 feet via several challenging hills, including Mount Sutro and Mount Davidson (the city’s highest peak). We will end the hike in the Inner Sunset near 9th Avenue, where we can get drinks and/or food. **THIS EVENT HAS A WAITLIST. DO NOT SHOW UP FOR IT UNLESS YOU HAVE RECEIVED AN EMAIL SAYING YOU CAN ATTEND. NO PLUS ONES ARE PERMITTED ON THIS HIKE.** We will **meet at 10:00 am** at the Glen Park BART Station (at Diamond and Bosworth Streets) and **depart at 10:15 am** sharp. We begin the trek by heading north through Glen Canyon Park on the Coyote Crags Trail and Gum Tree Girls Trail. Upon reaching Portola Drive, we head south to ascend Mount Davidson and then turn north to go through Laguna Honda via the Victory Trail. Upon exiting Laguna Honda, we will break for food and the restroom at Midtown Terrace Park. Continuing north, we will enter Mount Sutro via the Clarendon Trail, connecting onto the Mystery Trail and the Historic Trail, followed by an easy descent into the Inner Sunset. Bring plenty of water and lunch/snacks. Restrooms: At Glen Park BART Station (mile 0.0), Midtown Terrace Park (mile 4.6), Grattan Playground (mile 6.5). **Directions:** Take BART or the 44 Bus to the Glen Park BART Station. We will meet just outside the station near the intersection of Diamond and Bosworth Streets. From the Inner Sunset: take the 7 Bus from 9th Avenue and Lincoln Way to the Civic Center BART Station, the 8 Bus from 8th Avenue and Irving Street to the Civic Center BART Station, or the 44 Bus from 9th Avenue and Irving Street back to the Glen Park BART Station. We'll start by meeting at **Arizmendi Bakery** to grab coffee and pastries before heading out together for a walk to the top of Bernal Heights Park. The hike is short but rewarding, with panoramic views of San Francisco and the Bay Area. **Notes:** * Please arrive on time so we can leave together after meeting at the bakery. Improv Jam Session | Beginner-Friendly Game Day

Join us for a fun day of improv games! This is a free, beginner-friendly jam session (not a formal class). We try to get together about once a month and play games. As always, nobody is forced to participate but highly encouraged to jump in and play. **What to expect:** * Improv - short for improvisational theater - is a form of live performance where characters, dialogue, and scenes are created in the moment. * We’ll have a mix of warm-up games, learn about character development, physical comedy, and storytelling. * Depending on audience participation, we’re planning about an 1.5-2 hour session. **Where and when:** * Sunday, August 23rd - meeting at 2:00pm, games start at 2:15pm. * William McKinley Monument in NoPa: https://maps.app.goo.gl/gSDmnZA9md6r5orU9 * We’re planning to use the space in front of the monument as our “stage”. Ride Like a Girl - Women's MTB Ride - Joaquin Miller

Want to have fun, learn new trails and meet other women (cis, trans and femme) who love to mountain bike? You're in the right place! For the August edition of BTCEB's women's ride series, we're going to hit the nifty singletrack of Joaquin Miller Park and then we have a special treat: fearless ride leader Heather lives just down the hill from Joaquin Miller and we're all invited over for a potluck! Bring something to share and your favorite beverage, and come and hang with us. Message us if you need to drop something at Heather's house ahead of the ride. But before that, we ride. Join leaders Rebecca and Heather at 8:30am at the Elephant Barn parking lot in Joaquin Miller Park, 3594 Sanborn Drive, Oakland, CA 94602. We'll gather up for a quick huddle to talk about the ride at about 8:45, and roll by 9:00 am. To get to the parking lot, head up Joaquin Miller Rd to the park entrance and turn into the park on Sanborn Dr. Go just past the community center/ranger station lot and make the next left. We'll split into two groups. The Teal group will cover about 12 miles with 1,700 feet of climbing. The Denim group will be a bit more challenging, covering about 16 miles with 2,500 feet of climbing. Note that some of these trails aren't suitable for beginners. Intermediate and up will have a great time. We’ll take care of you: these are no-stress rides where no one is left behind. Please bring your mountain bike, obviously, in good working condition. (No ebikes, please. Ride Like a Girl is strictly acoustic.) Whether you’re running tubeless tires or not, please make sure you have a spare inner tube to fit your wheels, plenty of water and some food for the trail. Sunday Kickball @ Bushrod Park!

BASS presents our favorite event, kickball! We will be at our normal spot in the East Bay at Bushrod Park in Oakland! Bring your soccer cleats (for better grip on the field), sunscreen, and athletic wear and water for a fun time out! For those who haven't played kickball before, the rules will be explained and demonstrated before we start. Depending on the attendance, we'll either have 2 teams facing off or a rotation of 3 teams all together. Then after we may hit the local pizza/bar scene if everyone still wants to hang out. We have a HARD START at 1pm, so please be sure to show up on time for warmups! Moderate Hike at Presidio of San Francisco (5.3 miles/626 ft elev+)

It's a moderate 5.3 mile loop with about 626 ft of climbing, so plan for around 2 to 2.5 hours on trail. We'll wind past Mountain Lake, down to Baker Beach, and along the coast with views of the Golden Gate Bridge. Old friends, new friends, everyone is welcome!

Weekly Hikes at Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park

A Sunday at 3;00 PM moderate hike in addition to our regular Wednesday hikes at Redwood Park. This is a mostly shaded, 6 mile, 1000 feet elevation, moderate paced hike at Oakland's Reinhardt Redwood Regional Park. Enter from Redwood Gate https://goo.gl/maps/PrGuttC8dEnxN1KC9 We meet at Fishway Lot (the first parking lot on the left). Fishway is a small, unpaved lot on the left, closest to the entrance gate. Parking is free and there are 4 parking lots. At 3:00 pm we start with a meet and greet; and each person gets to share 1 - 2 things that made them happy this week. Please be on time and get to know your new friends during the hike. We leave for the hike at 3:05pm. Route to be determined day of the hike. Hike is about 2 hours. We stop at most trail intersections along the hike to regroup. Please make sure to bring enough water and clothes and respect for everyone and nature. If you cannot make it, please update your RSVP so others can join the hike. Participants assume responsibility for their own safety Doggie friends are currently not part of this group hike.
