Day Trip to the Spectacular Pink Lake of Victoria in Dimboola [Once a Year]

We will be heading to Victoria's spectacular pink lake in Dimboola (Nearly 350km away from Melbourne). We will be hiring a bus with a driver. If you plan on going into the lake, please bring gumboots knee high. These can be purchased from Kmart or Anaconda or other stores. We will book a 24 seater bus with a driver. Join us for a morning walk and good company, followed by an optional Turkish brunch! Come along for the walk only or stay for both. 😊 🌳 THE WALK We’ll start and finish at Project Turkish Cafe, with a route through Royal Park and Princes Park. We’re planning approximately 2 hours of walking, returning around 11:00 am. You’re welcome to walk at your own pace. The group may spread out, and we won’t necessarily stay together or stop to regroup. Please familiarise yourself with the route and be comfortable finding your way back independently. Please arrive at 8:45 am so we’re ready to leave at 9:00 am. Allow extra time for travel and parking. Join me for a Halloween night out at Luna Park St Kilda for **Luna Dark** — the park after dark, with unlimited rides, haunted mazes, roaming performers and live entertainment until midnight. It's the opening night of Luna Dark 2026, so expect a big, loud, slightly ridiculous atmosphere — neon lights, scare attractions, carnival games and Halloween-themed shows across the park. Costumes are very welcome if that's your thing, but absolutely not required. We'll meet outside the Luna Park gates at 5:45pm for a quick hello, then head inside together when the session opens at 6:00pm. From there we'll wander the park as a group, ride what we feel like riding and duck into the mazes for whoever's brave enough. I'll wrap the official meetup around 10:00pm, but your ticket runs until midnight, so stay on as long as you like. **A Meetup RSVP is not a ticket.** This is a casual social meetup so we can go along together — it isn't run by, affiliated with or endorsed by Luna Park. Safari at the Werribee Open Range Zoo

Join me for a full day out at Werribee Open Range Zoo — open grasslands, a free safari bus ride past rhinos, giraffes and zebras, and keeper talks running right through the day. It's one of those places that feels a long way from the city without actually being far at all. We'll travel out together by public transport. Meet me at Boost Juice inside Southern Cross Station at 7:45am, we'll walk to the platform together and catch the 8:04am train, then the connecting bus to the zoo, arriving around 9:29am. If that's too early for you, you're very welcome to make your own way there and meet us at the zoo entrance instead — just let me know so we can look out for you. Once we're in we'll take our time: hop on the safari bus, catch a few keeper talks, wander the walking trails and stop for lunch somewhere along the way. It's a relaxed day, not a race to see everything. One important thing: a Meetup RSVP is not a zoo ticket. Join us and celebrate the club’s Christmas BBQ. This event is for financial members of Melbourne Bicycle Tour Club. see https://www.mbtc.org.au/membership-2/ for details. The Xmas BBQ will be held again at the Port Melbourne Gasworks Arts district. Recently upgraded, the BBQ area is near the facilities and main gate. The Gas Works has recently been given a major facelift with new gardens and BBQ facilities. B.Y.O Chairs and picnic rug . There will be a treasure hunt and a volley ball comp. Sausages including Vegan varieties, salads and deserts all included for the very low price of nothing. Walter has been perfecting his home made beer brew to temp your dry throat. The Annual Awards will be presented to our top preforming Ride Leaders . If the temp is 28 degrees +, around 4.00 pm we walk to Port Melbourne beach ( a block away ) where you can put your big toe in to the water or even do a doggy paddle in the bay . So remember your togs and floaties !!!
