Sailing Adventure aboard the cutter Cetacea on Sunday, Aug 23!

The cutter Cetacea (Latin, marine mammal-dolphins/whales), a beautiful, strong, and well-appointed 42' blue-water sailboat with extensive operational and safety systems, invites a few crew aboard with a highly experienced skipper and platonic-only water sports enthusiast and science/technology entrepreneur. Strong preference for adventurous crew, as can be seen in the various NBS photo albums of crew on more than 150 no-cost personal sailing adventures the past 12 years on NBS. This sail is for women that prefer to sail with other women; sorry guys but there is a big demand for female-only sailing that isn't being met! Sailing experience isn't necessary, but enthusiasm for a fun, safe and exhilarating daysail, is! Weather dependent, we'll sail around the North Bay crashing Regattas and searching for whales under sail! Yes(!) we've seen whales for 2 of the past 4 sailing adventures! Roaming Crocker Amazon and San Bruno Mountain

On the 15th we will cross city limits and head up to the saddle of San Bruno Mountain again. On the way we will visit one of the city's less fashionable neighbourhoods, Crocker Amazon. I have been wanting to do this roam again for a while, but waited until the bathroom rebuild at the San Bruno Mountain picnic area was finished - which it now is (and I rate the new bathrooms pretty highly!) As you can imagine, there is some climbing involved to get onto the mountain, though perhaps not as much as you might think. There is also a short steep scramble on dirt to get off it. We will take a few off-road trails on the mountain itself. *Bringing water, snacks, and layers for all the microclimates is the way to go.* *These roams are offered by donation. They are one way I am able to pay my rent in San Francisco.* *Punctuality is always appreciated, for the sake of everybody's time. A Friday In The Canyon

Glen Canyon is a unique feature in the city - a peaceful oasis - and we haven't spent much time there recently, even though we often start roams from Glen Park. This Friday roam will take us from the south of the canyon to the north alongside Islais Creek, and back along the side of the hill. If we get lucky we might see a pair of coyotes as we did last time we were up on the slopes. In any case, we will sit on the rocks overlooking the creek valley. We will also have time to visit a couple of the famous dirt roads in the village. There will be a couple of climbs and plenty of dirt on the way round. *Bringing water, snacks, and layers for all the microclimates is the way to go.* *These roams are offered by donation. Acadia Hiking And Coastal Maine Adventure

### Exploration, Exhilaration, And Eleanor! Get ready for non-stop whiffs of sweet pine as you hike the startingly beautiful coastlines of Maine and Acadia National Park. It all starts in Portland, Maine where we rendezvous, exchange bff necklaces, and hop in the SHE-nanigan Shuttle to our first hike… which is THE best hike. We’ll scale the famous iron rungs of The Beehive, peer into the crystal-clear waters of Bowl Pond, and gape at stunning shoreline cliffs as we explore Gorham Mountain and Sand Beach. Next we’ll scramble the summits of The Bubbles, eat our body weight in seafood in Bar Harbor, and spend an entire day exploring Acadia via sea kayak. Bald eagles, porpoises, otters, and seals send their love and may even pose for a photo thanks to the glorious nature freaks leading our aqua-safari. Pirates Cove Hike

In the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the Marin Headlands, a wonderful looping hikes with lagoons, beaches, and views of the city, a rocky cove and the pacific coast. Love the feeling of Tennessee Valley, a relaxing walk along the Lagoon out to the beach. The hike really begins after you go up a steep climb, approx. 600 feet, on the north side of the Valley to the Coastal Fire Road, and then go on to a plateau at the Coastal Trail, with views over the valley and the Pacific Ocean. After moving along the Coastal Trial, you have a small out and back down a rocky climb to Pirates Cove, a cool small inlet beach with large rock outcrops, well worth the effort.
