Hi everyone! If you like to play modern tabletop (board, card, dice, tile and dexterity) games, and you enjoy meeting new people, then join us in the evenings from around 7pm until the venue closes. Feel free to bring your own games if you have them, but don't worry if you don't, as regular members will have some of theirs. And of course, we'll teach you how to play them if you don't know already. You work late? No worries - you can join us any time during the evening, so if you can't arrive at 7pm, don't worry, just let us know your ETA. Everyone is free to come and go when they like, so it is possible that you may be the first to arrive or the last to leave. If there are lots of us, we may split into groups to play different games. Please write what time you expect to arrive in your RSVP and/or the event comments, so we can try to avoid anyone having to wait alone for long. People who usually attend are a relaxed and friendly bunch, made up of both UK natives and foreigners, who may be locals or live further away, who are happy to welcome newbies and regulars. This event will either take place at the host's home (which can cater for up to six players and where there is [a large collection of games](https://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/natts?rankobjecttype=subtype&rankobjectid=1&columns=title%7Cstatus%7Cversion%7Crating%7Cbggrating%7Cplays%7Ccomment%7Ccommands&geekranks=Board%20Game%20Rank&own=1&objecttype=thing&ff=1&subtype=boardgame) and accessories to play with) who lives at the top of Manchester Road, or if there are more than six players, or if anyone coming would prefer to meet in public, then at the Pepper Street Tavern (which has many tables, but can be noisier, not as well lit, has a set closing time which might interrupt gameplay, and is more expensive than the supermarket). If you want to come but are not comfortable playing in a private residence, please let us know ASAP. Events in this group are free to attend, but it is respectful to the public venues which we may hold them at if you can buy at least one drink or some food while you are present, just like anyone else at the pub would do. If the event is at a private home, you can bring your own choice of drinks and/or snacks. If you would like to contribute towards the costs of running of this group, feel free to buy/bring the host(s) a drink of their choice when you see them, for which they'd be very grateful. This saves money, that can be put towards the [Meetup subscription fees](https://help.meetup.com/hc/en-us/articles/28677808413197-Organizer-Subscription-prices-overview) and buying the games that we all play. Pepper Street Tavern (formerly Pepper St. Ontiod) is a cosy reasonably-priced pub in the Docklands, near Canary Wharf, just 3 minutes walk from Crossharbour DLR station, 5 minutes from South Quay DLR station, about 10 minutes walk from the Jubilee line station, and a little further from the Elizabeth Line station. Various TFL buses stop nearby at Crossharbour station. Relaxed Mafia (Beginner Friendly)

## Welcome to Relaxed Mafia Come and play Mafia, an exciting social deduction game, in a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Players of all levels of experience are welcome, including complete beginners. There is a recommended donation of between £5 and £10 to help us to cover our Meetup fees. If you can't afford this though, then don't let this stop you coming! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Wednesday Night Gaming!

Come and play board games! We play all types of games on a Wednesday night, ranging from social deduction and lighter games to heavy euros and complex strategy titles. Beginners are very welcome, we'd love to see you! We'll always welcome you on the night and make sure we get you into a game, and we have plenty of players on hand happy to teach the rules to different games - so don't worry if you're not sure what to play or who to sit with. We don't charge for attending the Meetup, but you will need to pay the Ludoquist's game session fee of £8 per person (unless you have a Gold or VIP [membership](https://www.theludoquist.com/collections/membership-2022)). We start arriving from 6.30pm if anyone wants to join early for short games and chat - please do try to arrive by 6.50pm, so we have time to discuss who'd like to play what, in time for the main games to start at 7pm. Mafia Games & Social - London Waterloo!

Welcome to Mafia Games (and Social) London Waterloo! Come and play a few games of Mafia, meet new people and have a fun evening with us! If you’ve never played before, you are very welcome. We’ll teach you when you arrive, and you’ll soon get into it :) 📍 **Where?** The Hercules, 2 Kennington Rd, Lambeth, London SE1 7BL — Carousel Room (Second Floor) or the Snug Room 🕕 **When?** We meet at 18:00. **Coming on your own?** You are very welcome! This is a social event as much as a games evening. You’ll meet people around the table, and between games there’s time to chat, get to know each other and discuss who you probably shouldn’t have trusted… Bring a friend or come and make some here! **Do I need to know anything beforehand?** Just come along! This is a casual, beginner-friendly event, and many of you will be playing with us for the first time. We’ll explain the rules and help you through your first game. You’ll get to play several games, so there’s plenty of time to learn, try things and surprise yourself. Most importantly, this is a social activity, so feel free to talk to anyone between the games and have fun! **What is Mafia?** Have you seen *The Traitors*? Come and play the game it’s based on! Mafia is a 10-player social game of secret roles, deduction and deciding who to trust. The Mafia know who their teammates are and try to hide among the Citizens. The Citizens have to work out who the Mafia are… while the Mafia try to look very helpful :) Each game lasts around 45 minutes, and we play at multiple tables. It can get competitive, but it’s easy to learn, and every new game gives you a fresh role, a fresh start and another chance to figure everyone out! *** **How do we play?** We’ll teach you at the venue, but here’s the idea: 🌙 **Night** * The Mafia secretly choose a player to eliminate. * The Don, who is on the Mafia team, checks whether a player is the Sheriff. * The Sheriff, who is on the Citizens’ team, checks whether a player is Mafia. ☀️ **Day** * Each player gets a turn to speak: share your suspicions, defend someone, ask people to trust you… whether they should is another question! * Everyone then votes publicly to eliminate a player. The Citizens win by finding and eliminating all the Mafia. The Mafia win when they equal or outnumber the Citizens. You’ll pick it up as we play. Questions are always welcome! Thursday Night Gaming

Come and play board games Join us for tabletop board and card games. Thursday nights are aimed at those with some experience of modern boardgames, and we tend to play more complicated games - anyone who is completely new, or mainly interested in olaying lighter games, should try to come on Mondays. We always try to make sure that someone is happy to teach the games and welcome new people on the night, so don't worry if you're not sure what to play or who to sit with. Please arrive by 18:45 in time for everyone to get into groups and chat for the main games to start at 19:00.
