Come and play board games! Join us for tabletop board and card games such as Just One, Colt Express, Saboteur, Potion Explosion and Wingspan. Monday nights are aimed at welcoming players who are new to modern board games. We always try to make sure that someone is happy to teach games and welcome new people on the night, so don't worry if you're not sure what to play or who to sit with. We don't charge a fee for attending the Meetup, but you will need to pay the venue's game session fee of £8 per person (unless you have a Gold or VIP [Ludoquist membership](https://www.theludoquist.com/collections/membership-2022)). Please arrive by 18:50 in time for everyone to get into groups for the main games to start at 19:00. We will start arriving from 18:30 if anyone wants to join early for short games and chat. You will learn about how different components of RealityKit can come together to make a game. **Alex Ozun** — *“Effect Systems as an alternative to DI and Unidirectional Architectures”* Swift apps depend on side effects such as disk I/O, networking, randomness, clocks, and concurrency to provide useful functionality. While essential, side effects make code harder to extend, customise, and test. Today, side effects are typically managed with DI libraries and opinionated architectural frameworks. These approaches often require significant restructuring of code, introduce invasive scaffolding and abstractions, and sometimes force code into unidirectional data flow, fragmenting logic into disconnected parts. These casual meetups are all about game devs walking and talking about making games. This time we will gather at 11:00 AM outside Richmond station, then walk to the park, walk around there for a bit (maybe around 6 miles depending on how we're feeling) and then back to Richmond for a pub or cafe at the end. So 7-8 miles total. Richmond park has decent facilities so there will be a couple of toilet & cafe stops. If we're lucky, we'll see the start of some Autumn colours in the park. There will likely also be deer.

If you like to play modern board, card and dice games, and to meet new people, then join us for these online game sessions for as long as you like The host will bring the games (though is open to playing your own if you have them) and will teach you how to play them if you don't know already. All you need is an online computer or tablet with a modern web browser, front-facing camera and microphone. You work late? No worries - you can come along any time. Please write in the comments what time you expect to be available from, so we can try to avoid anyone having to wait alone for long. We are a relaxed and friendly group, made up of both natives and foreigners, of locals and those living further afield, happy to welcome newbies and regulars.
