The Hollywood Sculpture Garden is really a neat place . . . AND WE GET TO VISIT AND HAVE A SOCIAL THERE!!! It's located on private property and not normally open to the public. So it is indeed a special thing for us to go. (for free) Now . . . About this event: It is outdoors in a super-funky, pretty and cute location of The Hollywood Sculpture Garden. **This is intended as a "New To Meetup Mixer." Meaning if you are new to Meetup, or new to the group, been in the group for a while but not attended an event or even just new to the city, . . . then come.** A perfect way to meetup some quality people over some even better wine. **And very perfect if this is your first meetup ever!! We're partnering with our pals at [ Friends of Elysian Park](www.elysianpark.org) for a morning of outdoor drawing at the test plot at [Marian Harlow Memorial Grove](https://maps.app.goo.gl/mq5AojrVRy9cf1dX8) in Elysian Park on Saturday May 30th 9am-11am. **What to bring:** Limited supplies will be provide but guests are encouraged to bring their own preferred mediums. The area is well shaded but bringing sun protection is encouraged. We suggest brining a blanket to sit on and water to stay hydrated. **Getting there:** Park along the end of Park Dr where it meets Avaon Park Terrace- Along the edge of the road there is a staircase leading down to the trail. We will be stationed by the dog watering station. "Shabutsu is the practice of tracing the image of the Buddha by hand, sharing the same spirit as carving Buddhist statues. Buddhist images are not created as expressions of personal creativity, but as objects of devotion, following traditional guidelines. In Shabutsu, a sheet of paper is placed over a model image, and the lines are carefully traced one by one. At the end, a personal prayer or wish is quietly written. In this workshop co-presented with Koyasan Beikoku Betsuin of Los Angeles, we invite you to experience the spirit and practice of Shabutsu together." I plan to arrive early to take a look at the gallery and the related exhibit ("Manifesting Icons") before the class. It closes at 6pm. Hope to see you there!

This class will be in Santa Monica though.... so sign up;) Tonight we're going to be making beautiful crushed glass art frames in honor of the 250th upcoming anniversary!! You'll be able to choose from 3 different designs especially created for this project! Everyone will be working with ❤️ 🤍 and 💙 glass tonight, but you'll be able to do any combination of the colors that you like:) All supplies will be provided for you. Once you've arrived, please make sure and check out the menu - They do expect that everyone will order "something" since they're letting us meet on their property:) COST for this class: $45, to be paid in advance so I have the right amount of supplies ready:).
