With bouldering, you climb up to about \~15 feet from the ground, are not secured to a rope, and do not need a partner; it's probably the easiest way for beginners to explore climbing for the first time! **With rope climbing...** * You climb in pairs - the climber on the wall & the belayer on the ground ensuring the climber doesn't fall. Belayers need to learn how to belay & pass a test administered by the gym staff for safety reasons! * At this gym, the climber doesn't need to take a test (the belayer can check safety for both people); however, it's unlikely that for you to find a partner who only ever wants to belay from the ground while you're climbing. * Therefore, if rope climbing is really important to you (getting that adrenaline rush from going \~60 feet up!), you should plan when you're going to 1) learn to belay and 2) do the belay test with gym staff (which also depends on gym staff availability) * For many first-time ever learners, learning to belay can take the entirety of the Queer Crush session (and also depends on our ability to have someone who can teach you). Since the gym closes soon after our session, this means that you may not get much time, if any, on the wall! * At Mission Cliffs, most days before Queer Crush, there is an Intro to Climbing Class that the gym offers. We highly recommend you taking this class, then , time-permitting taking a belay test with gym staff, and then joining our group. This would be the best way to do rope climbing as a beginner with other queer crushers

Limited to one more car only and any additional cars can be parked in the overflow section closeby. Space is limited to 12.** In this 3-day workshop, you will experience the art of crafting a blade from scratch using minimal power tools and equipment that can be easily acquired or made at home. We take an accessible approach to the craft, proving that you don't need a crutch of big, expensive tools to create a high-quality blade. This class is the perfect first taste of your metalworking journey, providing a foundational education that you can take in whatever direction you choose. Together, we will heat up steel, hammer it into shape, and refine it using hand tools. You will fashion a custom handle and craft a leather sheath for your new blade. Roaming Crocker Amazon and San Bruno Mountain

On the 15th we will cross city limits and head up to the saddle of San Bruno Mountain again. On the way we will visit one of the city's less fashionable neighbourhoods, Crocker Amazon. I have been wanting to do this roam again for a while, but waited until the bathroom rebuild at the San Bruno Mountain picnic area was finished - which it now is (and I rate the new bathrooms pretty highly!) As you can imagine, there is some climbing involved to get onto the mountain, though perhaps not as much as you might think. There is also a short steep scramble on dirt to get off it. We will take a few off-road trails on the mountain itself. *Bringing water, snacks, and layers for all the microclimates is the way to go.* *These roams are offered by donation. They are one way I am able to pay my rent in San Francisco.* *Punctuality is always appreciated, for the sake of everybody's time. Please send a message on the app before the start if you are running late, and we will either wait (up to ten minutes) of I will direct you on how to catch up. Glen Canyon is a unique feature in the city - a peaceful oasis - and we haven't spent much time there recently, even though we often start roams from Glen Park. This Friday roam will take us from the south of the canyon to the north alongside Islais Creek, and back along the side of the hill. If we get lucky we might see a pair of coyotes as we did last time we were up on the slopes. In any case, we will sit on the rocks overlooking the creek valley. We will also have time to visit a couple of the famous dirt roads in the village. There will be a couple of climbs and plenty of dirt on the way round. *Bringing water, snacks, and layers for all the microclimates is the way to go.* *These roams are offered by donation.
