Garderners of Charonne - Les jardiniers de Charonne

(fr) Le quartier Charonne a conservé ses airs de village. Il abrite plusieurs jardins bien cachés dans des styles bien différents. Un point commun quand même : ce ne sont pas des parcs urbains là juste pour être jolis et sympa, ils existent pour permettre à des gens de cultiver des fruits, légumes et fleurs. Oh et ils sont jolis aussi ;) Et les gens qui y font pousser des choses seront là et pourront vous parler de leur expérience dans ces lieux uniques. On ira aussi visiter une charmante église qui date du XIIè siècle. Saint-Germain, vous connaissez ? Non, pas Saint-Germain des Prés ;) Même avec toute cette verdure qu'on va traverser, celle-ci n'a rien à voir avec les Prés. Le tout en moins de 2km, donc un parcours assez court, ce qui nous permettra de garder un rythme très tranquille. On aura donc plein de temps pour nous aérer les poumons au cœur de ces parenthèses bucoliques en pleine ville. Rendez-vous devant la mairie du XXè. Prévenez-moi si vous allez arriver tard. Sinon, on commence à bouger à 14h pile. (en) Charonne is a neighbourhood that still feels a bit like the village it used to be. It hosts some well hidden gardens and we'll visit some in very different styles. They do have one thing in common: they're not city parks that exist just to look and feel good, they're here to give people an opportunity to grow fruits, veggies and flowers. They do look and feel good too ;) And the people who grow stuff there will be there to talk with you about their experience in these unique places. Oh and we'll also visit a lovely little church from the 12th century. Ever heard of Saint-Germain? No, not Saint-Germain des Prés, though we will cross some green spaces indeed ;) Less than 2km total, so a shortish walk, which will let us go at a leisurely pace. Which will give us plenty of time to get our dose of fresh air and enjoy these pastoral breaks at the heart of the city. Let's meet in front of the 20th district City Hall. Tell me if you're going to be late. Otherwise, we'll start moving at 2pm sharp.

15 km. Moderate Hike like the Sun King going home, from Boulogne (Pont-de-Sèvres). We will pass the Seine Musicale Island, the Manufacture Royale of Ceramics, the huge geometric domain of Saint Cloud with the best view over Paris. We will have lunch at the Etang de Ville d'Avray, and dash to Versailles. After discovery of the royal city, we will have a merited drink. You will go back by train with your Navigo Pass We meet at **10:15 Pont de Sèvre Metro line 9 outside exit 1. We leave at 10:30** Have your lunch with you. You will recognise mee with my blue scarf. 16km, moderate. Hike as a knight in and near the most medieval Provins town, Discover rose honey, a local speciality! We meet at **Gare de l'Est at 09:20 near the Starbucks** and take the 09:47 train named XIBU, free with your Navigo Zone 5 pass. We will go to the "haute ville" to admire a few places, taste some rose honey, then embrace the green landscape with the hike, while keeping an eye on the Cesar tower. Have your picnic with you. Depending on arrival times, you may have the opportunity to: * Explore Catania’s historic centre * Enjoy an authentic Sicilian gelato 🍦 * Stop for an Italian espresso ☕ * Enjoy a relaxed dinner at a traditional trattoria 🍝 The adventure begins by slowing down, settling in and getting ready for the unforgettable days ahead. **Day 1 — Mount Etna Guided Volcano Hike** After breakfast, we head towards **Mount Etna**, Europe’s highest and most active volcano. Our first stop is **Syracuse**, one of the most historically important cities in Sicily. We explore the beautiful island of **Ortygia**, discovering: * Ancient Greek heritage * Historic ruins * Baroque piazzas * Sea walls and waterfront views * Narrow historic streets After exploring Syracuse, we continue our journey towards Malta by ferry. * Cross the Mediterranean Sea to Malta * Arrive in Valletta * Check into our accommodation * Relax and enjoy the first evening on the island **Day 4 — Discover Valletta & Malta** Today we spend a full day discovering the historic capital of Malta — **Valletta**. Explore the city’s fascinating combination of: * Historic architecture * Grand churches * Mediterranean harbours * Charming streets * Beautiful viewpoints * Maltese and Mediterranean cuisine Valletta is one of Europe’s most fascinating capital cities, where centuries of history meet a lively Mediterranean atmosphere. We spend another night in Valletta. **Day 5 — Ferry to Gozo → Victoria → Salt Pans Hike** After breakfast, we travel by ferry to the island of **Gozo**. We check into our accommodation and begin exploring the island. In the early evening, we enjoy a scenic **7 km Salt Pans Hike**. Discover: * Ancient salt pans * Beautiful Gozo coastline * Peaceful evening landscapes * Natural Mediterranean scenery * Incredible coastal photography opportunities 📸 This is the perfect introduction to Gozo — combining nature, history and beautiful sea views. Return to Victoria for dinner and a relaxed evening. **Day 6 — Xlendi Cliffs & Inland Sea Coastal Adventure** Today is our dramatic coastal adventure day. We begin with a boat experience through the natural sea tunnel connecting the Mediterranean Sea with the **Inland Sea**. Afterwards, we continue on foot along the spectacular coastline towards **Xlendi**.
