Community Meal Service at Good Shepherd (Toronto)

From Toronto Joy

✨ **Community Meal Service at Good Shepherd** An opportunity to come together as a group to serve the homeless and those at risk in our community. **Registration** Toronto Joy is now using our website as the main place to stay connected and register for events. **To attend this event, please visit:** [https://torontojoy.org](https://torontojoy.org/) After completing the quick registration, please select this specific event. This helps us prepare, stay connected, and make sure everything is organized for everyone attending. *** During our recent sessions, we served meals, chopped veggies, made sandwiches, and helped prepare pasta. Each session is similar, but the tasks may vary depending on what is needed that day (e.g., sorting food). We had a great time serving together with lots of smiles, laughter, and good energy. Every session gives us an opportunity to come together, support the community, and share meaningful moments while serving alongside one another. *** **Only 6 spots are available.** If you sign up, please do so with the intention of attending, as the organization relies on our numbers for planning. We will send a reconfirmation message closer to the date, and if any spots become available, we will reach out to those on the waiting list. *** **Arrival Information** When you arrive at Reception, the staff will guide you to the volunteer room, where you can place your belongings in a locker and meet the group. Below are simple guidelines on what to wear, safety, and other things to know: [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1piAyloECv9YUDkPJuoJBdCmh3x8n1un1rGvJSFIkbs4/edit?usp=sharing](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1piAyloECv9YUDkPJuoJBdCmh3x8n1un1rGvJSFIkbs4/edit?usp=sharing) *** **Good to know:** • Closed-toe shoes are required. • Tie back long hair and wear minimal jewelry. • Water will be provided, but feel free to bring your own bottle if you prefer. • **Please arrive by** **1:40 PM at the latest** so we can plan who will be doing which roles and begin together. • If you can’t make it due to an emergency, please message me as soon as possible 🙏 Grateful to serve alongside you.

Avengers’ Saturday Cafe for the Homeless

Avengers’ Saturday Cafe for the Homeless

Sat, Jul 11, 3:00 PM
From The Avengers Club
5.0

Note: You may be removed from the attendance list if you've participated in the previous week's event. This allows for more people to experience this Meetup. Avengers put your costumes on and let’s go and save the world!
Well we can’t save the world (yet), but we aim to try to play a small part in the lives of those experiencing homelessness by making their day a bit better!
Description: Before the event the organizer will post a list in the comment section of the attendees and what they are responsible to bring (food/drink, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies). We normally ask each attending member to bring approximately $15-20 worth of ingredients/supplies to our event. We will use the items to prepare and serve food/drink at The Meeting Place.
Timeline: We will meet on location at 11:00 am, with lunch served between 12:30-1:00 pm.
Membership Dues: Membership dues are $2.00 for the calendar year. Membership dues go towards paying for food/supplies incurred by no-shows. Membership dues are due at the first meetup of the year that you attend.
No Shows/Late Un-RSVP: We’re relying on members who RSVP to bring key ingredients for recipes! Please try your best to show-up or alternatively change your RSVP early so another member may fill the empty spot.
\*\*\* If you are on the waitlist, keep checking as you may be moved into attendance to replace someone. We will try to message you to confirm your attendance in advance.
Donations will be assigned before the event.

Toronto Joy Social: Meet, Mingle, and a Walk Along the Water

Toronto Joy Social: Meet, Mingle, and a Walk Along the Water

Sun, Jul 12, 6:00 PM
From Toronto Joy
4.8

Hi everyone, Come spend a Sunday with us. Meet some good people, share a few laughs, and be part of something good. This is a Toronto Joy social. A chance to get to know the people behind this community and maybe find your place in it. Volunteers, friends, family, and anyone who's just curious. You don't need to have served with us before. *Come as you are.* Feel free to bring friends who'd enjoy meeting like-minded people, or anyone who wants to help with service projects in the community. Everyone's welcome. **We'll meet at 2pm.** Here's what the day looks like: ✦ Meet at The Well. We'll start with easy introductions and a few icebreakers, so no one's standing around feeling like a stranger. We'll have name tags too, so it's easy to find us and know who you're talking to. Grab a bite if you'd like, or save your appetite for the waterfront. Either way, settle in and let's get to know each other. ✦ I'll share what we're dreaming up. The projects ahead, where Toronto Joy is going, and how we're growing so we can serve the community in real ways. I'd love to hear what you'd want to be part of too. ✦ Then we walk down to Harbourfront together. **At 4pm** there's a free concert at the **Toronto Music Garden**, right on the water. Two brothers from Santiago de Cuba bringing the warmth of Cuban music. The waterfront's alive that day with soccer, art, and music. Stay as long as you like and soak it all up. No rush to head off. That's it. No pressure, nothing formal. Just come and be part of it. **Where to meet** (inside The Well, food court across from Shoppers): * Head toward La Plume or The Dorset restaurant, then turn toward the statue and take the stairs down to the lower level. * Across from Shoppers, you'll see the entrance to The Well's food court. * Head in, and the long tables will be on your left. That's us. Can't wait to see you there. If you'd like to stay in the loop on future gatherings, feel free to register anytime at **torontojoy.org**. Photo: Toronto Music Garden by Taxiarchos228
