Walk for Peace

Peace Builders of Orange County is pleased to join Whittier First Friends Church for a community Peace Walk on **Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.** This event is an opportunity to focus on inner calm, compassion, and nonviolence. It is not a protest, but a visual expression of goodwill and peace for our community and around the world. **Event Schedule** * **3:00 p.m.** Poster-making with peace-focused messages * * **3:30 p.m.** Gathering at the meetinghouse peace pole for a brief talk about peace, walk instructions, and sing together. * * **4:00 p.m.** Silent Peace Walk from the meetinghouse to the City Hall peace pole. * * We will progress up Philadelphia to Painter Avenue, and continue on Painter to City Hall, gathering at the peace pole located there. At the city hall peace pole we will hold a time of silence and then conclude with a song. Participants will then be invited to process back to the meetinghouse along Painter together. * Please note: Water and safety monitors will be provided. The walk is 1 mile. Peace Builders of Orange County encourages all who support peace, compassion, and understanding to participate. Septemeber Kind Steps LA Event

SEPTEMEBER MEET UP INFORMATION! Hi everyone! Our next Kind Steps LA event is coming up ❤️ •When: Saturday, September 5 •Time: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM •Meeting location: Lafayette Park •Address: 625 S. La Fayette Park Place, Los Angeles, CA 90057 Enter this exact address into Google Maps. We will meet at the picnic tables near the Lafayette Multipurpose Community Center. Look for the Kind Steps LA sign and our sandwich-making supplies. Street parking is available nearby, but please arrive early to allow time to park. If you cannot find us, message me in the WhatsApp group. This month, we’ll be making turkey and cheese sandwiches. We’ll also assemble care packages with snacks, water, hygiene products, and other useful items. Afterward, we’ll walk in smaller groups to distribute everything. Kind Steps LA depends entirely on donations and what our volunteers contribute. If you can bring any sandwich supplies, such as bread, turkey, cheese, sandwich bags, or disposable gloves, please let the group know what you’re bringing so we can coordinate. You’re also welcome to bring bottled water, individually packaged snacks, socks, or new and unopened hygiene products. Please don’t bring opened or previously used personal care products. If you would rather contribute financially because you’re busy or it’s easier for you then no problem! Sunday Morning Community Meditation (In-Person)

We invite you to join us for our Sunday mindfulness meditation community gathering. All are welcome regardless of experience. Guided meditation instructions are available upon request. This is a free weekly event. Donations welcomed! The session opens with a few brief chants (in English). There are periods of silent sitting meditation alternating with walking meditation, contemplation practice and discussion. The last half hour there'll be snacks and time to socialize. All are warmly welcome! Meditation instruction will be available. Mid-Autumn Moon Celebration @ Huntington Library (San Marino)

Join me for a beautiful evening at **The Huntington's spectacular Chinese Garden (Liu Fang Yuan)** as we celebrate the **Mid-Autumn Moon Festival**, one of the most important traditional festivals in Chinese culture! 🌕🏮 We'll **meet at 6 PM** before heading into the special evening celebration at 6:30 PM. 🌕 What is the Mid-Autumn Festival? The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is traditionally celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar, when the moon is believed to be at its fullest and brightest. The festival has a long history dating back more than 2,000 years and is centered around themes of family reunion, togetherness, gratitude, and wishing for happiness and prosperity. One of the most beloved traditions is sharing mooncakes, a round pastry symbolizing completeness and family unity. Families traditionally gather together, admire the full moon, enjoy food and tea, and spend time with loved ones. 🏮 What makes this event special? The Huntington transforms its stunning Chinese Garden into a magical nighttime setting for the celebration. We'll have the opportunity to stroll through the moonlit garden, enjoy the beautiful scenery and atmosphere, and experience the Mid-Autumn Festival in a unique cultural setting.
