[Dinner] Happy Crane - Table for Four (Deposit $50)

[Dinner] Happy Crane - Table for Four (Deposit $50)

**Happy Crane** Having opened a little over a year ago Happy Crane was an anticipated restaurant from a rising star in San Francisco's celebrity restaurant community. *James Yuen Leong Parry's* resume has several top tier Michelin restaurants including *Benu* here is San Francisco. The reviews have been generally good, but with a huge hype bubble reviewers reference restaurants that do not exist for a comparision. A modern interpretation of Chinese Cantonese dishes still has a lot of buzz in San Francisco and around the world. Their tasting menu is $120, and individual dishes are about the same. There is a $50 cancelation fee for the reservation, so that is a deposit, which will be refunded at dinner. I am excited to be eating here. **Minutiae** $120 Tasting menu, otherwise family style dinner. **History** *Modern Chinese, Rooted Flavors* *Welcome to The Happy Crane, where authentic Chinese flavors meet thoughtful technique and a spirit of creativity. Rooted in tradition yet expressed through a modern Chinese lens, our dishes celebrate heritage while embracing fresh ideas — served in a warm, joyful setting.* *from restaurant website* **Chef and Owner:** *James Yuen Leong Parry* **Menus and Reviews** [Happy Crane](https://www.thehappycranesf.com/) [Happy Crane (Yelp)](https://www.yelp.com/biz/the-happy-crane-san-francisco) [Happy Crane (San Francisco Chronicle)](https://www.sfchronicle.com/food/restaurants/article/happy-crane-chinese-san-francisco-21078711.php) **Administratriva** Estimated Cost is $120, plus tax, tip and San Francisco's mandate. *Dress is smart casual* **Deposit** Attendees should expect their deposit to be returned before their share of event costs are paid. A deposit is not expected to cover all an attendee's costs. No *San Francisco Foodies'* fees are collected via this event deposit. *Pay deposits via Zelle or Apple Cash. Use QR Code, email address or phone number in this event's photos.* *Full deposit use and refund information is below.* *For any questions please contact the event host.* **Taxes and Restaurant Fees** Dining in San Francisco has a sales tax (8.625%) and probably an employee health mandate (3-10%), a tip (20%) may be automatically added, even on individual bills, if not we expect a 20% minimum tip to be paid for individual bills. We will try to get separate checks, but remember to bring cash. Each diner is responsible for their own orders and costs but we will have to consolidate and divvy up the final bill accordingly. *Please bring cash or have Zelle or Apple Cash available.* **Transportation to Happy Crane** MUNI: KLMN, F, 38 Finding street parking in Hayes Valley is usually difficult. Parking garages can be found nearby *Use event comments for Car Pooling and Ride Sharing.* *Many thanks for the photos and history from restaurant website* **#EatSanFrancisco #SanFranciscoFoodies #SFFoodies** **Deposits, Pre-Payments and Donations** A *deposit* is applied to each attendee’s portion of the event (for example dinner) cost or returned to each attendee when they attend. Unexpected extra from individual deposits are returned to each attendee or left as tip, at each attendee's discretion. A deposit is to defray hosts’ costs from no-shows and late cancelations; many restaurants charge for each guest missing. *Prepayments* are asked when the venue requires money before an event (such as a dinner) and paid by our event hosts in advance to a third party. Hosts will usually help find someone to cover a person's seat and prepayment, but that is not guaranteed. Deposits and prepayments are non-refundable. However, a host, at their desecration may refund or have a cut off date, usually one week to 72 hours before an event. Any approved refund may occur up to one week after an event, if there is a delay let your host know. Under extreme circumstances (like a natural disaster or an event is cancelled by host or venue) deposits are returned. For large events or natural disasters please be patient, refunds may take some time, but a week is our goal. Some San Francisco Foodies events offer third party insurance and San Francisco Foodies cannot refund that cost. Donations go directly to a non-profit and are ancillary to an event. San Francisco Foodies cannot refund these. Third Party events collect funds directly from San Francisco Foodies members and San Francisco Foodies cannot issue a refund, but may help recover lost deposits or prepayments on a case by case basis. San Francisco Foodies is willing and able to go to court to protect our community, hosts and members. *We Look Forward to Seeing you at This and Other San Francisco Foodies Events*

TGSF - End of Month Get-Together - In Person

TGSF - End of Month Get-Together - In Person

Fri, Aug 28, 2:00 AM
From TGSF - Transgender San Francisco
4.8

**Welcome** *ALL* trans, non-binary, gnc (Gender non-conforming), intersex, people sincerely questioning a transgender path, other friendly queers, and allies! TGSF gets together in person, at least once a month, generally on the last Thursday of the month. **Our "NEW VENUE"!** We will meet at **Taqueria San Jose,** which is the name of our old venue, but they moved across the street! So, same time, same name, but now at 2839 Mission St, across Mission Street, from Taqueria Los Altos. - Sorry for any confusion. It's good to buy food here to support them, but **food is optional**. (Meat will undoubtedly be eaten by someone at the restaurant. If you'd like to help organize vegan, or non-food events, please contact TGSF via *tgsf.org@proton.me* !) TGSF usually has an in-person End of Month dinner/gathering on the **last Thursday of each month**, except: * **March**, we attend **TDoV** (Transgender Day of Visibility) - [http://TDoV.org/](http://TDoV.org/) * **June**, we attend **Trans March** - [http://TransMarch.org/](http://TransMarch.org/) \- You really must experience this event\! * **November 20**, we attend **TDoR** (Transgender Day of Remembrance) - [http://TDoRSF.org/](http://TDoRSF.org/) * **December**, we'll meet before the traditional winter holidays – **Details to be announced.** * (If another trans/gnc-related event is important to support, it will be substituted for that month's gathering.) We try to keep the Meetup [http://www.meetup.com/TGSF-Transgender-San-Francisco/](http://www.meetup.com/TGSF-Transgender-San-Francisco/) up to date. But **we need volunteers to do Social Media!** Our Facebook and other Social Media haven't been updated in years. (Yes, **the website, TGSF.org, is still dead**. Eden hopes to have some ideas on how to fix it "soon".) ***Volunteers are always needed!*** We need people to: organize gatherings; to answer the phone messages and emails; for outreach to organizations and media; to organize and carry-out "mutual aid"; etc. Please do NOT use the Meetup, Facebook, or other sites to contact TGSF! Those methods may not be checked for months at a time. *The best (only realistic) way to contact us is through email: tgsf.org@proton.me .*

Improv Jam Session | Beginner-Friendly Game Day

Sun, Aug 23, 9:00 PM
From Have Fun Make Friends SF
4.9

Join us for a fun day of improv games! This is a free, beginner-friendly jam session (not a formal class). We try to get together about once a month and play games. As always, nobody is forced to participate but highly encouraged to jump in and play. **What to expect:** * Improv - short for improvisational theater - is a form of live performance where characters, dialogue, and scenes are created in the moment. * We’ll have a mix of warm-up games, learn about character development, physical comedy, and storytelling. * Depending on audience participation, we’re planning about an 1.5-2 hour session. **Where and when:** * Sunday, August 23rd - meeting at 2:00pm, games start at 2:15pm. * William McKinley Monument in NoPa: https://maps.app.goo.gl/gSDmnZA9md6r5orU9 * We’re planning to use the space in front of the monument as our “stage”. If you’re still reading (whoo whoo), here is a Wiki rabbit hole about improv: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Improvisational_theatre Come play some games with us!

Heirloom Tomato Menu at Bosco: Dinner for 6

Heirloom Tomato Menu at Bosco: Dinner for 6

Thu, Aug 27, 1:00 AM
From San Francisco Foodies
4.8

Tomato lovers, this event is for you. **Bosco** is a wood-fired Italian restaurant from The Absinthe Group (the creators of Hayes Valley favorites like Absinthe Brasserie & Bar). Located at 888 Brannan Street in San Francisco’s SoMa district—in the historic building formerly occupied by Bellota—the restaurant takes its name from the Italian word for "woods" or "forest." Led by co-executive chefs Ryan McIlwraith and Kaili Hill, Bosco pairs traditional Northern Italian technique with Northern California's hyper-seasonal produce. Rather than strictly adhering to traditional regional recipes, the kitchen focuses on modern, distinctly San Francisco expressions of Italian cooking. For the summer, Bosco is offering a fixed-price tomato menu for $55. We will get • Tomato & stone fruit gazpacho • Yellowfin tuna carpacchio toast • Heirloom tomato caprese • Tomato & goat cheese scarpinocc • Bone-in pork shoulder chop milanese • Green tomato & eggplant parmigiana • Heirloom tomato sorbet Although you may purchase additional items, full table participation for the tomato menu is required. Costs The prix fixe menu is $55 per person. Drinks and add-ons will be the responsibility of the person(s) who ordered them. Please be prepared to split the check at the event and pay via cash, Venmo, Zelle, or Apple Cash. Taxes and Fees Dining in San Francisco has a sales tax (8.625%) and the restaurant charges a 6% mandate, and we will add a 20% tip. Parking and Transportation Muni 19 to 8th & Bryant BART to Civic Center + Street parking is definitely possible in this neighborhood

Mt. Tam Dog Friendly Hike 7 1/2 miles

Mt. Tam Dog Friendly Hike 7 1/2 miles

Sun, Aug 23, 4:45 PM
From Lesbian-Friendly Hikers Over 50
4.9

Exploring the dog-friendly trails of the Mount Tamalpais watershed, this 7.5-mile loop offers a moderately strenuous hike with around 1,400 feet of total elevation gain. Navigating these specific paths ensures your dog can tag along on a leash, within the water district boundaries and don't wander onto adjacent state park land where pets aren't allowed. The trek kicks off with an initial climb on Rock Spring Fire Road before easing into a downhill stretch across Laurel Dell and down through Cataract and Marsh trails. You then begin the key segment of the route—a steady 1.5-mile climb up Kent Trail that leads back to higher ground. Reaching the top leaves a final stretch on Bernstein Trail or Rock Spring Fire Road to bring you right back to the parking lot. o Wear sturdy footwear for the rocky, root-filled sections o Trekking polls are helpful o Mostly shaded-wooded trails o Bring lunch and plenty of water o Dogs on leash
