I created this group because I wanted to meet more queer people in Berlin and make some genuine friends, but I couldn’t really find many events that felt like what I was looking for. So… I figured I’d just make my own. This group is for LGBTQ+ people who want to make friends, meet new people and actually spend time together. The idea is simple: no pressure, no dating expectations, no need to be an extrovert. Just people getting together and doing things. We’ll organize things like: 🎬 Movie nights 🍲 Lunches & dinners ☕️ Cafés & casual hangouts 🌳 Walks & exploring Berlin 🎮 Game nights 🎲 Board games 🍻 Going out for drinks ✨ And whatever else people feel like doing You don’t need to already know anyone. You don’t need to be super outgoing. You can come alone, be awkward, and slowly get to know people. There will always be someone around to make sure you’re included, introduce you to people, and help you feel comfortable. <3 Hopefully this can become a little place where we can meet people, make friends, and feel a bit less alone in Berlin. ❤️ For the first couple meetups, we’re keeping things super simple. They complement C++ 23's std::move_only_function. But what about the good old std::function? When should we use each one? In this talk, we'll compare and contrast these four function wrappers and consider when to use each one in practice. ### **Speaker**: Lukas Schwerdtfeger **Bio:** Lukas is a PhD student in the Database Systems and Information Management (DIMA) group at TU Berlin and at BIFOLD. His research focuses on concurrency in adaptive stream-processing engines. He works on NebulaStream, a next-generation data-management system designed for stream processing across the sensor–edge–cloud continuum. **Title: Just-in-Time Compilation in C++ with Nautilus** **Description:** Modern applications often depend on configuration and information that are only available at runtime. This flexibility can come at a cost: critical code paths must repeatedly interpret dynamic state rather than benefit from compile-time optimization. In this talk, we will explore how just-in-time (JIT) compilation can bridge that gap. After introducing the fundamentals of JIT compilation, we will look at Nautilus, a lightweight tracing JIT compiler for C++. Nautilus traces ordinary C++ code, creates an intermediate representation, and compiles specialized versions for the current runtime context. Nautilus powers query compilation in NebulaStream, an adaptive data management and stream processing system for the sensor–edge–cloud continuum. Immer sind es Themen, die uns gefallen, die wir besonders interessant, wichtig oder manchmal auch richtig schlecht finden. Gemeinsam versuchen wir die Position der Autor*in, den Stil und die Argumentationsstruktur zu verstehen. Dazu diskutieren wir über das, was wir verstehen, welche Meinung wir zu dem Thema haben oder welche Fragen offen bleiben.
Gerne könnt ihr uns auch Themenvorschläge mitbringen oder zuschicken.
Der Kurs richtet sich an interessierte Menschen mit einem B2-Niveau (oder so ähnlich), die Lust haben sich weiter mit der deutschen Sprache zu beschäftigen und ihren Wortschatz zu erweitern.
