Vivid - Tuesday evening walk

Vivid is back again for the next three weeks! Tonight we will walk to the Barangaroo Reserve and then return south beside Darling Harbour to view the multiple Vivid artworks. Out aim will be to be somewhere near the Pyrmont Bridge between 7:30 - 7:40 to view the drone show. Let us keep our fingers crossed that the weather is suitable for the drones to fly. Tempe, Cooks River and Wolli Creek loop

This scenic walk starts at Tempe Station and follows the cycle path along the banks of the Cooks River, through Pat O'Conner Reserve and Hughs Park and returns to Tempe Station via a bush track along Wolli Creek. Start Location: 10:00am Tempe Train Station (western side car park at bottom of foot bridge) Lunch: Bardwell Park RSL Club Transport: Trains take 10min to reach Tempe from Central Station. Make sure you arrive BEFORE 10.00am as we will not be waiting. Distance: 12.6Km Terrain: Flat: Sealed Road (15%), Cycle Way (40%) and Bush Track (45%) Time: Around 3-4 hrs WHAT TO BRING. Please wear good bushwalking shoes and bring a hat, sunscreen, rain jacket, first aid kit and 2L water. Enjoy pretty Lake Macquarie (2 hours from Sydney) while zipping along on our catamarans and getting a good introduction to sailing. More exciting than being on a yacht ! We have 18-foot, 16-foot and 14-foot catamarans. No experience is required. Come for either the weekend or a day (we recommend coming for the weekend). We don’t need super athletes, but you are sitting on a flat deck (not a seat) and you need to be able to move 3 metres to the other side of the boat at reasonable speed. A simple test is whether you can lie flat on a carpet and stand up within 4 seconds without using furniture. * For this weekend, we cannot take people weighing more than 80 kg (even if agile). COST: Sailing fee $70 (weekend); $40 (day), camping $25, lift $15, tent hire $10. You need your own sleeping bag. This is a group event and requires people to be on time to assist in rigging boats. If coming Saturday, arrive by 10:00 am ready for the outdoors. If coming for the day only be prepared to stay until 6pm. For Sunday, be prepared to arrive by 9am and stay until 5pm. Camping is at a caravan park with facilities. We are a long-established sailing group run by the YHA. We hold sailing weekends every 4 weeks. NO SAILING EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. Catamaran sailing is a fun and exciting way to experience the water, as the boats zip along in the wind. The boats are easy to sail and offer a good opportunity for anyone who wants to learn or experience sailing by getting some practice on either handling the jib, trapezing (hanging out the side of the boat on a harness) or skippering. We are not a "racing" group, we just like to be on the water and away from Sydney for a weekend, taking it easy.

This walk takes us from Waterfall to Uloola falls, Karloo pool and then to Olympic pool. **We will start at Waterfall Train Station (exit train station and turn left until you get to the drop-off area) at 9.15am. **From here we will follow the Uloola Fire Trail for about 5kms to Uloola Falls, where we stop for a snack and I will show you a secret swimming hole with little waterfalls. We will then follow the Karloo Track for 3 kms to Karloo Pools ,where we will have lunch.Then we will follow Kangaroo Creek to Olympic pool. Welcome to Sydney's greatest social bootcamp! We are a large group of young professionals that love working out with friends on Mondays and Wednesdays. Most of our members tell us they found their best friends in Sydney thanks to us, and we hope you do too. You're guranteed to be personally introduced to 20-30 young professionals upon arrival. Our group is a huge network of people built up over many years (we're the first social bootcamp) and our members join us for regular social and big parties. To keep it fair, the rule is if you RSVP in the first 20 spots, but later change your RSVP to "not going" (at any time), there's a $20 fee. From the ANZAC monument walk 75 meters straight down the footpath to Elizabeth St. This is also close to the statue of bullets (Aboriginal War memorial). It's also 75 meters from Museum Station (corner of Elizabeth St & Liverpool St) but there are some blue construction fences between the meeting point and Museum Station. Please make sure you update your RSVP for each session (you can do this on the Meetup app). It's helpful to check who is going to each session. If you're a newbie, keep an eye out for the "Regulars". These guys and girls come to bootcamp consistently and give 100% effort at each session. They are also people you're most likely to see again and become friends. What should I bring? As little as possible as there are no lockers or storage unfortunately. Bring what you can carry while you run. How fit do I need to be? You should be above average fitness, with no health conditions or injuries. Our workouts are highly organised and vary from week to week but as a test, you should be able to do: 60 second plank, 20 sit ups, 20 squats, 20 pushups (on the knees for girls) and 20 jumping jacks. You should also be able to jog for at least 3km without stopping. How many people attend? On average, about 20-30 or so people come each week. We prioritise members that have fun, work hard and make friends. How do I find you? Look for a group of people dressed to exercise at our meeting spot. During bootcamp, if you do not feel well enough to exercise or have an injury, you should let someone know and leave the session immediately. Exercise with your head as much as your body. Classic Grand Cliff Top Walk! From Leura to Scenic World.

**Be prepared for incredible views!** **This walk goes through a series of lookouts as we follow the restored sandstone track passing through countless waterfalls and ups/downs. It meanders through diverse flora and fauna that call the dense rainforest ecology home.** **We will start at Leura Train Station (meet outside the train station) at 9.50am sharp (a train leaves Central at 7:54am from Platform 6 and arrives at Leura Train Station at 9.43am).** **From here we will make our way to Gordon Falls Picnic area and get on Prince Henry Cliff Walk and go past a number of lookouts including Elysiam Rock, Olympic Rosk, Tarpein Rock and others before reaching Leura Cascades.** **More lookouts on the way to Katoomba, taking in views over the Jamison Valley towards Mount Solitary, the Three Sisters and Echo Point.** **From here, we continue on the Prince Henry Cliff Walk to a number of other lookouts before passing Katoomba Falls and eventually arriving at Scenic World.** **There is the opportunity to exit the walk at some other places along the way.** **We will aim to finish by 3.00pm at Scenic World, from which we can catch a bus to Katoomba Train Station for a train back to Sydney.** **\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*** **DISTANCE: 12 km.** **GRADE: Medium, Grade 3.** **NOTE: A few get out points along the way, especially close to Leura. The glorious white sands of Sans Souci and Dolls Point will fix that! We walk from Tempe Station via Kendrick Park and the Cooks River, Cahill Park, Riverine Park, Cahill Park, the Chinese Vegetable and Produce Gardens via Muddy Creek then hit the Coast at Brighton Le Sands…. Our first glimpse of the white sand, and a few aircraft taking off. The coastal walk from there to Dolls Point is easy, flat and paved. This walk has the added bonus of the St George Sailing Club if you’re thirsty and want to take in more of the view at the finish. Regulars, regardless of numbers are always welcome….just PM me if you’re on a waitlist. 🌸♥️🌸 We walk at a medium pace of 4kms per hour, stopping for breaks and to take in the views. It is a reasonable expectation that the group stays together. It is your responsibility to stay in line of sight. If you cannot walk at this pace, I will let you know of the next get out point. This is not negotiable. 🌸🐌🌸 As this is a walking group, bikes, ebikes, scooters, escooters, and pogo sticks are not compatible or welcome. 🌸👣🌸 Grading for my walks:
Easy: Mainly flat, suburban, loads of get out points, up to 14kms.
Easy-Medium: some stairs, a few uneven surfaces, up to 15kms.
Medium: Stairs, rocks, coastal beaches/sand, ups, downs, get out points limited, up to 17kms
Medium-Hard: uneven surfaces, need to take extreme care and be hike fit. Few get out points. Tracks, uneven surfaces, steep inclinations and limited resources. 🌸👯‍♀️🌸 WALKING GUIDELINES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Carry sufficient food and water (2 litres) for the expected conditions of the walk. Pls don’t separate from the group, unless you let someone know, preferably me. The waitlist is completely discretionary….reliable regulars will ALWAYS be included. 🆗……….If you are a no show, you will not be welcome to join a future walk with me. (It’s a courtesy kind of thing). If people are on the waitlist, it is also very inconsiderate. Marking yourself as “Not Going” within 2 hours of departure does not allow reasonable time to notify anyone on the waitlist. 🌸🙅‍♀️🌸 On the odd occasion, the walk may change from the schedule, due to weather, unforeseen track obstacles OR emergency situations. 🌸🤞🌸 Please make sure your conversation is always courteous to other group members. 🌸😍🌸 PS….
