They pass through beautiful rural landscapes and are perfect for enjoying nature in a relaxed way. Here in **Terres de l’Ebre**, Catalonia, two connected routes run from the mountains of **Terra Alta** down through the Ebro Valley to **Tortosa**, and even further towards the Ebro Delta. You can walk any part of the trail, but cycling is the best way to enjoy more of it in one day. As the routes were originally built for trains, there are no steep climbs, making them ideal for families and casual cyclists. The section from **Horta de Sant Joan to Tortosa** is mostly gently downhill, so you hardly need to pedal — just enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way. 📅 **What is the plan?** We start cycling from **Horta de Sant Joan**, with spectacular mountains around us. Along the way, we may see **griffon vultures** and, if we are lucky, even mountain goats. The route is **34 km** and finishes in **Xerta**, where we can relax at a café with a cold drink. We will ride through old tunnels and bridges, some of them dark enough to need headlamps — adding a bit of adventure! Halfway, we stop at **Fontcalda**, a beautiful natural pool surrounded by cliffs, where we can swim, cool down, and have a picnic.
