Whether you've never climbed or you're a pro, whether you want to boulder, top-rope, or (maybe) lead, we'll partner up and climb some walls. MetroRock Bushwick is pretty evenly split between bouldering and rope climbing, so we'll form groups based on climbing preferences, and who's belay- and/or lead-certified, or willing to get certified. This event is open to all skill levels, but please note that teaching belay techniques is not permitted at MetroRock outside of a scheduled class. If you plan to take the belay test, please make sure your skills are up to speed before you arrive. If it's your first time at MetroRock, try to get there a few minutes early to allow for registration and signing the waiver. Stonewall Senders - an LGBTQ+ monthly climbing meetup group

Please arrive around 630pm and come to the front desk, make sure you sign a waiver beforehand! First time climbers will need a brief orientation, this is run by the Goat staff (they're super friendly!) After that come find us, we'll be on the ground floor in the bouldering area! Comfy clothes and a water bottle are a smart move, and if you have your own climbing gear feel free to bring it with you! Looking to meet a new climbing community? Maybe you've just moved and would like to meet some new climbing partners? Anthony's Nose Hike!

Let's meet up to hike Anthony's Nose! We will be taking the 6:56AM train from grand central that gets into Manitou at 8:10 AM. We will meet at the Manitou train station and depart from the station at 8:15AM. I will post my cell number in the comments the day before. The hike itself is ~2.5 mile round trip. The walk from the Manitou train station to the Anthony's nose trail head is about 1.7 miles, making the total out and back (ending back at manitou station) ~6 miles. I will keep my eye on the weather to make sure no rain in the forecast. Bring hiking boots, water, and snacks. 🙂 🥾🍁

Catskill 3500 Bushwhack - North Dome

You won't see the attendees here on meetup as registrations are on our site but we wanted to let you know that we typically see large outings for all of our events! North Dome is a 3,610' tall trailless peak and one of the 33 Catskill 3500 peaks that one must climb to become a Catskill 3500 Club member. It's about 3 miles of on-trail and 2 miles of off-trail bushwhacking with a total of 2,000' of elevation change that takes 5 to 7 hours to complete. Although we'll take this hike at a leisurely to moderate pace, North Dome is infamous for its 5 cliff-bands, so prepare for lots of scrambling! It's a challenging hike, often times with mud and stinging nettles, so it's great to do with other TrailBounders! This will not be your typical guided hike. Every hike with TBP is an opportunity to learn, so for this hike, we will use map & compass combined with orienteering techniques to navigate. No electronics! Although the guides will do much of the map & compass work, all participants will get turns navigating, with the guides helping and teaching when needed. The objective is to build your confidence so you can go out and summit other trailless Catskill 3500 peaks alone or with others. Although North Dome is not known for its views, it does offer beautiful terrain and fun challenges. Join us for a fun day of navigating and scrambling!
