Tuesday night climb at Movement Gowanus (+ drinks @ Threes Brewing)

Come get your climb on! Whether you've never climbed or you're a pro, whether you want to boulder, top-rope or lead, we'll partner up and climb some walls.
Preferably you are belay-certifed, or willing to get certified, that way everyone can climb (except if you're only coming to boulder).
 If it's your first time at Movement, try to get there 10mins early to allow for registration and signing the waiver.
 For those who wish to join, at around 9pm we will pop over to Threes Brewing a couple of blocks away on Douglass St. for a quick drink. Agenda:
 • 6:40pm: Arrive at Movement, check-in at front desk and sign waiver if necessary
 • 6:45pm: Meet the other attendees in the area to the left of the front desk
 • 6:50pm: Form pairs (or groups of 3) and move upstairs to start climbing.

Climb/R (NJ Climbing Meetup)

Looking to meet a new climbing community? Maybe you've just moved and would like to meet some new climbing partners? Or you are new to the community and sport and would like to meet up with some new friends! Every Tuesday we have a very psyched community leader to introduce climbers to our community and to each other! Many of the regulars to this meetup (8+) don't bother signing up, but you will see them climbing and chatting at the meetup. Parking on Hackensack streets is free after 6 pm, so don't be discouraged if the Goat parking lot is full, which is often. Please inform the front desk that you are here for the meetup to receive the $18(no rentals) or $21(shoes and harness included) discounted day pass! Top Rope belay and Lead belay checks are free, and provided by the Goat staff team. All experience levels welcome.

Climbs & Lines @ Metrorock

You can climb all day with the 15$ day-pass; however, Climbs & Lines will start at 7pm and go on for 2 hours (with short breaks in between). We’ll start with some warm ups and longer poses on the wall and in the air. You can finally draw models like you’ve never been able to (except from photographs). For 7-10min poses we will gradually transition to hybrid (some models on the ground and some suspended) and finally make our way back to the ground for the last longer poses (15-20min). LGBTQ+ Indoor Rock Climbing Night at Montclair Gravity Vault [Bouldering]

Join us at Gravity Vault's LGBTQ climbing night! (one Friday each Month) This a great place to start bouldering for those who are new and great sets for experienced folks too. **LGBTQ MEETUP SPECIAL** *$14 day pass when you RSVP here on Meetup. Additional cost applies for shoe rental. Crevice and Rock Rift (Mohonk Preserve)

RAIN OR DRIZZLE WILL CANCEL If you are not a member of the Mohonk Preserve, be prepared to pay a $20 day fee. I promise you that you'll get your money's worth. This hike requires a car. We'll meet at the location specified in the link above where you should register. The hike: **About 5 easy miles (2.5 each way) of in and out along scenic carriage ways** that might include animals to look at. Beautiful scene of the Gunks, even if no animals.( Parking is an issue in October so this lot (and hence this pre-post walk) was chosen because we will be sure to get parking.) **One climb that will last a good while. Best for those in good cardio/aerobic condition.** **A bunch of rocky things.** Among them: -Birchen Path, a very rocky cliffside path -The Crevice, a crevice between giant rock slabs that requires climbing up a skinny ladder. Because of October/leaf peeper, and the internet, this will be crowded. : ( *You will need to be able to push yourself up by arms at end*. -Rock Rift, a lesser known in/out/over/between sort of "adventure". While walking on level surfaces, we will maintain a moderate to brisk pace. **BRING** 2 or more liters of water. Bring lunch and snacks Wear hiking boots with good grip. **Can/maybe want to bring** poles but they should be able to collapse. Non-giant packs are best because there are a few tight squeezes. There will be a few places where you'll need to take the pack off to fit through things, even with a smallish pack. The path: -Lenape Lane -Duck Pond Road. -Duck Pond Trail to Forest Drive (the UPHILL part) -Birchen Path to Crevice to Skytop -Skytop Path to Pinkster Path to Fox Path to Glen Anna to North Lookout Road to Old Glen Anna Road -Rock Rift!! -Rift Trail to Hemlock to Bridge Road to Kleinekill Road to DuckPond Road -Back to start AMC Health Advisory: Covid and other respiratory illnesses are circulating in our communities. Bridge Practice (Intermediate)

Bridges can be intimidating for new skaters. The object of this event is for newer skaters to experience skating on bridges. **Note:** **You absolutely positively must know how to brake comfortably in order to attend this event, or you could get badly injured on the steep downhill.** We will start at New York City Hall in Manhattan, which is right before the Brooklyn Bridge, cross the Brooklyn Bridge into Brooklyn, then skate over to the Manhattan Bridge and cross the Manhattan Bridge back into Manhattan. From there, we'll go up to the Williamsburg Bridge and take that back into Brooklyn, then go across Pulaski Bridge and take the 59th Street Bridge back into Manhattan. The skate officially ends there, but others may continue to skate together The challenges that bridges present are as follows: 1\. steep downhill once you get past the middle\. 2\. steep uphill until you get to the middle\. 3\. narrow lanes with bikers trying to pass you\. 4\. possible construction 5\. curves With all that, you might ask: why would anyone want to attend such an event? Well, practicing bridges is good practice for... more bridges.

Diamond Mountain & Pine Meadow Lake — 5 Mile Hike

Diamond Mountain & Pine Meadow Lake — Harriman State Park https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-york/diamond-mountain-trail?sh=icfnhe&utm_medium=trail_share&utm_source=alltrails_virality Join us for a scenic fall hike through Harriman State Park featuring rocky mountain trails, Stony Brook, Pine Meadow Lake, and beautiful views from Diamond Mountain. We'll hike at a conversational pace and take breaks at scenic spots along the way. Distance: ~5–6 miles Elevation Gain:~ 800–1,000 feet Pace: ~2 mph Difficulty: Moderate/Vigorous — expect rocky and uneven terrain, roots, stream crossings, and some steeper sections Estimated Time:~ 3–3.5 hours including breaks This is a social group hike rather than a race. We'll stay together and regroup at major trail intersections and scenic viewpoints. Please bring: - 2–3 liters of water - Snacks/lunch - Sturdy hiking shoes with good traction - Trekking poles recommended - Weather-appropriate layers - Bug spray/sunscreen as appropriate Important: Harriman trails can be rocky and wet, particularly around the streams. Please make sure you're comfortable hiking on uneven terrain and handling moderate elevation gain. Lemon Squeeze Hike at Mohonk Preserve

Join us for one of the most fun and unique trails in the Hudson Valley, the legendary Lemon Squeeze at Mohonk. This is part hike, part rock scramble, as we climb through the Labyrinth, a natural maze of towering boulders, tight crevices, and wooden ladders, before squeezing through the famous Lemon Squeeze and emerging at Sky Top for jaw-dropping panoramic views of the Shawangunk Ridge and the valley below, all lit up in peak fall color. It's a hands-on, full-body adventure that rewards every scramble with unforgettable scenery. After we come back down to earth, we'll head into charming New Paltz to refuel with food and drinks before heading back to the city. PLEASE NOTE: This is an advanced hike.
