After arriving at 10:15am\, some people may want to use the restroom at Bear Mountain Inn / Restaurant 1915\. And some people may want to make a beeline for Trailside Museum & Zoo by 10:30am to get free donuts and hot cocoa by 10:30am \(not sure how hard the time cut\-off is lol\)\. Trailside Museum & Zoo is a 20 minute walk from Bear Mountain Inn\. 2\. Our way to Trailside Museum & Zoo will be the first quarter of the Hessian Loop Trail \(linked below\)\. It’s 1\.5 mile and is relatively flat \(so it’s considered easy\)\. We’ll continue that trail after getting free donuts and hot cocoa\. 3\. After 30 minutes to an hour\, we’ll complete the Hessian Loop Trail\. 4\. Then we’ll head to do the Bear Mountain Loop Trail \(also linked below\)\. It’ll take 3\.5 to 4 hours\. We’ll be going up 1\,000 feet in about 2 miles so it’ll be moderate / hard difficulty but if you’re relatively fit it should be no problem\. If folks prefer\, they are more than welcome to hang out at Trailside Museum & Zoo \($1 suggested donation and is open from 10am to 4:30pm\) or the 1915 Restaurant in the meantime\. 5\. From 3 to 4:45pm\, a group of us will eat at 1915 Restaurant which is located at Bear Mountain Inn \(where the bus dropped us off\)\. It’ll be a separate Meetup event\. Sloatsburg Hike to Harriman

Harriman is a more wild state park, so the trails and trains will be less crowded than other hikes. Starting in Sloatsburg and hiking Harriman State Park. It will be approximately 9 miles over some hills and rocky outcrops. YOU NEED TO BE AEROBICALLY FIT for this hike, a hiker/walker or jogger. The trails in Harriman are rocky and steep and it's a long day of hiking If we travel at our usual pace we'll be back with plenty of time to catch the 4:25pm train (see return train times below). **GEAR:** Hiking boots or trail runners. Wear layers that you can add and remove as the weather changes. Bring a waterproof shell in case it rains. **NYC GUYS TAKING THE TRAIN:** Arrive at Penn Station around 8:35am. Meet inside near the NJTransit ticket booths, at the bottom of the escalators, at the 7th Ave and 32nd Street entrance to Penn Station. We're catching the 8:54am train #7229. There is a 9:11am #7829 to Secaucus that works too. **We're catching the earlier one to give us more time to transfer. Doesn't matter which time you book for your ticket.** Get out at SECAUCUS JUNCTION then transfer, on the lower level, to the 9:30 #0071 train toward Port Jervis. We'll get off in SLOATSBURG at 10:24am. Return train from Sloatsburg is 4:25pm. We want to catch this one because the next is 6:50pm. If these times don't work for you, you can try to get an Uber to nearby town of Suffern which has more frequent trains. **IF YOU LIVE IN HOBOKEN or JERSEY**: At Hoboken Train Station you can catch the 9:20am train #0071 toward PORT JERVIS get off in SLOATSBURG. Those of us coming from Penn Station will board this train in Secaucus. **DRIVERS:** This hike starts and ends in Sloatsburg. We'll meet you at train station at 10:24am. There's parking lot nearby at 32 Mill St, Sloatsburg, New York. Gyllene Höstpromenad till IKEA 🍁 Golden Autumn Walk to IKEA 🍁 4-5 Miles

**It's Golden Autumn in Sweden, so what better reason to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge to IKEA.** ***Låt oss gå* (let's walk)!** We'll see *höstlöv* (fall foliage) and *fallande löv* (falling leaves) in Brooklyn Heights and Cobble Hill, and arrive at IKEA/Red Hook in time for *frukost* (breakfast) or *lunch* (lunch). Four miles, plus [what feels like] an additional mile walking through the store. Return via the **free NY Waterways Ikea Ferry.** **Meet:** 8:15 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2026 at Chambers and Centre Streets, in the plaza across from the entrance to the Brooklyn Bridge walkway. Subway stops are 4/5/6 Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall; R/W City Hall; J/Z, 1/2/3, and A/C Chambers St. There is a Starbucks with restroom near our meeting place. **Route:** We'll cross the Brooklyn Bridge and make a restroom stop in Cadman Plaza,. We will meet on the Manhattan side of Brooklyn Bridge, walk over the Brooklyn Bridge at a fast pace. Trains: 4,5,6, J to Brooklyn Bridge/City Hall.\*****\*** **Look 👀 for the rows of food carts—we’ll be behind them!** **Our first stop will be in Dumbo at a European style shop featuring its namesake chef Jacque Torres chocolate’s, caramels, cookies & other sweets.** **Then, we will have our first restroom stop and break.**

 **We will then walk through Brooklyn Bridge Park and exit on Atlantic Avenue. We will walk along Atlantic Avenue, stopping at** **Damascus Café** **(Mediterranean snacks), and passing by beautiful storefronts that was once called Antique Row along Atlantic Avenue. Walk through Boerum Hill stop at two bakeries/pastries shops (one further up on Atlantic Avenue, and another on Smith Street).

We will then proceed to Cobble Hill & Carroll Gardens to see amazing Italian bakeries/pastries shops and** **The Chocolate Room** **🥰 We will stop by one of the oldest Italian bakeries since 1920’s that is famous for its magical lard bread.


Next— a surprise stop ‼️👀 😜 We’ll then walk back to Court Street, and pass some some beautiful brownstones and shops prior to our next and last dessert stop on Court Street - Carroll Gardens.** **Our Sweet & Salty Walkie ends at 387 Court Street at Baby Luc’s for some** **SPECTACULAR** **pizza 🍕** **You can get F/G trains at 9th St & Smith St.
