Fall Foliage: Rock Climbing, with transportation

All you have to do is show up!** We will try to catch the start of fall foliage with this October climb! Rocks are meant for climbing! Whether you have experienced the unbridled joy of climbing outside, are a gym climber looking to climb outdoors, or a first-timer, join us for a trip to the Gunks, one of the best climbing areas in the country. Our rock guides will set up multiple ropes, so you will get a chance to try routes of varying difficulty and climb as much as you want throughout the day. We will teach you the basics and give feedback and beta to help you progress as a climber. We will provide all the equipment that you need, including harnesses, helmets, and climbing shoes. Climbs & Lines @ Metrorock

You can climb all day with the 15$ day-pass; however, Climbs & Lines will start at 7pm and go on for 2 hours (with short breaks in between). We’ll start with some warm ups and longer poses on the wall and in the air. You can finally draw models like you’ve never been able to (except from photographs). For 7-10min poses we will gradually transition to hybrid (some models on the ground and some suspended) and finally make our way back to the ground for the last longer poses (15-20min). Stonewall Senders - an LGBTQ+ monthly climbing meetup group

Please arrive around 630pm and come to the front desk, make sure you sign a waiver beforehand! First time climbers will need a brief orientation, this is run by the Goat staff (they're super friendly!) After that come find us, we'll be on the ground floor in the bouldering area! Comfy clothes and a water bottle are a smart move, and if you have your own climbing gear feel free to bring it with you! Tuesday night climb at Movement Gowanus (+ drinks @ Threes Brewing)

Come get your climb on! Whether you've never climbed or you're a pro, whether you want to boulder, top-rope or lead, we'll partner up and climb some walls.
Preferably you are belay-certifed, or willing to get certified, that way everyone can climb (except if you're only coming to boulder).
 If it's your first time at Movement, try to get there 10mins early to allow for registration and signing the waiver.
 For those who wish to join, at around 9pm we will pop over to Threes Brewing a couple of blocks away on Douglass St. for a quick drink. Agenda:
 • 6:40pm: Arrive at Movement, check-in at front desk and sign waiver if necessary
 • 6:45pm: Meet the other attendees in the area to the left of the front desk
 • 6:50pm: Form pairs (or groups of 3) and move upstairs to start climbing.

Outdoorsy drinks at the Baylander

Let's meet up for one of the final drinks events outdoors. Baylander will probably close sometime in October for the season so let's get one last sunset on the Baylander! Everyone is welcome to come! I know there will be one other group that night. I had originally drafted this and had a date set but wasn't going to post it until our drinks this week but alas we both had the same idea of going to the Baylander one last time. Sunset is at 6:40 hence why I am starting this meetup at 6:30. Bring a warm coat in case it is chilly at night. This is an outdoor bar. Rain moves this event to the Expat nearby. Catskill Backpack - Devil's Path

The Devil's Path is the capstone of our Advanced Catskill Backpacking Series. For those on their Catskill 3500 quest, we will be summiting Indian Head, Twin, Sugarloaf, Plateau, & West Kill, as well as St. Anne's Peak, part of The Catskill 67. Those who choose can optionally wake early on the last day to also summit Hunter and Southwest Hunter for a total of seven 3500 peaks! Widely regarded as one of the most demanding traverses in the Northeast, this route is defined by steep ascents, sharp descents, relentless elevation change, and very little room for inefficiency. Over the course of this weekend, we will: • Manage sustained, aggressive elevation gain and loss • Navigate technical, rugged footing with the full packs • Maintain disciplined pacing across extended mountain days • Truly thrive in one of the most challenging trails in our part of the country The Devil’s Path is not long because of mileage — it is demanding because of terrain. The climbs are direct. The descents are unforgiving. Energy management becomes critical.
