(Special!) Toronto Vegan Climbing and Potluck Picnic - Basecamp Bloor

Join us at our vegan-friendly social climbing session and special potluck picnic event! We welcome all vegans, vegetarians, or anyone who is curious about the lifestyle and/or interested in eating more plant-based. No climbing experience is necessary. Whether you're a seasoned pro or a first-time climber, all are welcome. We will be bouldering, top roping, and using autobelays - feel free to join whichever activity you're interested in! ***This time around we will be inviting attendees to join us for a potluck picnic in Christie Pits park a short walk down the street from the gym following the climbing session. This will probably be one of the last warm weekends of the year, so we want to make the most of it. If you intend to join us for our picnic, please join us at Christie Pits park shortly after 5pm. Make sure to bring only vegan food items and please be sure to keep track of any ingredients that are common allergens. For those who are climbing for the first time, not to worry as it is quick to pick up and we are happy to provide some pointers on technique. You can boulder or use the autobelays after getting a quick orientation from the staff at the gym. For top roping, we're happy to belay any of our attendees. **Fees**: * $28 admission fee, plus rentals Climbing shoes are strongly recommended (disclaimer: rental shoes are not vegan as they contain suede/leather). **MeetUp Point: James for Entrance is off Leslie Street. Turn left on Leslie to Parking Lot 2 in Wilkett Creek Park** (Don't follow the pin!) **Join James for a 12 km hike that is challenging!** Starting past Wilcott Parking Lot 2, we will be passing through a number of parks and hills. For lunch we can stop at the TBG Bloom cafe for lunch or coffee ---- you might need one; or bring your own lunch. We will finish the hike with much needed yoga streches. It might be muddy, so ensure you have proper footwear! Also layers please, as we are heading into cooler weather!

Tommy Thompson Park is a man-made urban wilderness and wildlife sanctuary built on the Leslie Street Spit, stretching 5 kilometers to Lake Ontario. Managed by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, this unique park offers a peaceful escape from the city with a mix of wetlands, meadows, and trails. A unique place near downtown Toronto to experience nature, and *one of the best places for bird-watching in the city*, with more than 300 recorded species!

HikeFit: Earl Bales – Steep Hills Fitness Hike – L3 (Moderate)

Ready to sweat it out on the hills? Join us for a HIIT-style hill training hike This hike is part of the **HikeFit Series**, a collection of fitness-focused hikes designed to build strength, endurance, and overall hiking fitness. We’ll challenge you with steep climbs, rugged terrain, and a high-intensity workout. This isn’t a fast-paced hike, but it is **intense**. We’ll tackle multiple **very steep hills** in intervals, with plenty of chances to catch your breath, recover, or skip hills if needed. This hike is designed for intermediate hikers, but it’s **beginner-friendly** since you can skip as many hills as you need.
