Whether you've never climbed or you're a pro, whether you want to boulder, top-rope, or (maybe) lead, we'll partner up and climb some walls. MetroRock Bushwick is pretty evenly split between bouldering and rope climbing, so we'll form groups based on climbing preferences, and who's belay- and/or lead-certified, or willing to get certified. This event is open to all skill levels, but please note that teaching belay techniques is not permitted at MetroRock outside of a scheduled class. If you plan to take the belay test, please make sure your skills are up to speed before you arrive. If it's your first time at MetroRock, try to get there a few minutes early to allow for registration and signing the waiver. NY College Climbing Chalk & Talk (@Vital LES)

If you're a college student in NYC and either enjoy bouldering or want to try it for the first time, this is for you! Climb hard or barely climb at all — both work, and total beginners are genuinely welcome. And yes, if you have one and bring your chalk bag then we'll top it off with some free chalk — on us :). You can trickle in starting 4:00pm, where we'll be breaking off into groups of 3-4 to climb together, as well as go through a handout of some fun relationship-making questions that start light (think We're Not Really Strangers) and get more interesting from there (questions like: "Is what I'm pursuing actually worth it, or could I be missing something?", "Why does ___ make you happy — does it actually?") — all geared towards the goal of making real, deep, and lasting friendships in NYC with people our age. Afterwards, we'll probably grab something yummy to eat together in our groups if you want to join for that as well.

Climbs & Lines @ Metrorock

You can climb all day with the 15$ day-pass; however, Climbs & Lines will start at 7pm and go on for 2 hours (with short breaks in between). We’ll start with some warm ups and longer poses on the wall and in the air. You can finally draw models like you’ve never been able to (except from photographs). For 7-10min poses we will gradually transition to hybrid (some models on the ground and some suspended) and finally make our way back to the ground for the last longer poses (15-20min). Catskill 3500 Bushwhack - Mount Sherrill

You won't see the attendees here on meetup as registrations are on our site but we wanted to let you know that we typically see large outings for all of our events! Mount Sherrill is a 3,550' tall trailless peak and one of the 33 Catskill 3500 peaks that one must climb to become a Catskill 3500 Club member. We will be doing an out-and-back hike with about 6 miles of herd-paths and bushwhacking, ending up with a total of 2,000' of elevation change that takes 5 to 7 hours to complete. We will be following the herd-paths at a leisurely to moderate pace, but we'll have the opportunity to do some true bushwhacking over to the secret school bus, which was once used as an old hunter's camp. Be prepared for sustained off-trail navigation through dense forest, uneven footing, and steep terrain. Expect a physically demanding day with significant elevation gain and slow, deliberate movement. While mileage is moderate, the terrain makes this a full-value mountain day. Throughout the hike, we will focus on: • Map and compass navigation • Terrain assessment and going over route options • Proper footwork on steeper, rougher terrain Sherrill is not about speed or views. It's about precision, discipline, and controlled movement through terrain that is off the beaten path. Join us for a day of fun navigation challenges in beautiful terrain!
