One of Sydney’s surprises is that there are so many unknown gems. And **Greenwich** — the hidden gem of an artists’ hub — is one of them. It is not only stunning with its beautiful water views, it is also amazingly charming with its artistic vibe. It is a secret hub for award-winning contemporary artists, illustrators, sculptors, ceramicists, jewellers, photographers and textile artists. Just surprising, surprising and surprising — all happening in such a small community. I took our AAA Art Lovers there in 2023, and I am so thrilled to discover that the art trail is back on track. Can’t wait! The first week of November, the time when the jacarandas paint the streets purple, the time when the 38 artist's studios open their doors to welcome us. Meet for chat over a drink and snack or dinner. Tonight, we will discuss getting a film look to your street photography images whilst still using a digital camera. If you wish to discuss any aspects of your camera or photography technique, please bring the manual and your camera. Bring your laptop with your editing software installed & I will bring a laptop with Lightroom Classic installed. We can discuss any aspect of editing your images. Most image editors are similar, so even if using a different editor, the techniques are similar, mainly due to the menu system. Feel free to bring image(s) on a usb stick, SD, microSD memory card or an iPhone that supports Airdrop. Using Lightroom we can work on extracting the story of the image. If you want photo critique, pls bring print, or full size images, preferably not resized, on a usb stick, SD, microSD memory card or an iPhone that supports Airdrop. Please do not ask for a critique on images displayed on a mobile phone, too small a display to be critical. Headlands, Mosman — Another Hidden Gem

Alive yet remote, prestigious yet humble, dynamic yet quietly focused---HEADLANDS--- a place where the ocean meets art, where creativity breathes freely, and where purity and tranquillity exist side by side. Add the charm of a little French café, and somehow, it all comes together. I've been searching for the right date for this one, and finally--- here it is. And I've decided to break my own rule and run two events this time — Saturday and Sunday. Perhaps it's a small indulgence I'm willing to allow myself, a small sacrifice for the love of art, and for the joy of sharing these hidden corners with our art lovers. Some places are simply too beautiful to let slip away. And perhaps my heart is a little too tender when it comes to art. So here we are. This time, I won't reveal too much. Some things are better discovered than described. Let the artists speak to us through their work. Let us wander from studio to studio, discover what lies behind each door, pause for a coffee and a conversation, and eventually, make our way along the coastline ---the ocean beside us, and perhaps, a little more space made in our minds. Come, with curiosity. My friends. **Our itinerary :** **11:45 am – Meet at Frenchy’s Café** One of the iconic little cafés here. We'll collect our Art Trail maps and enjoy coffee together **12:15 pm – Begin the Art Trail** Starting with Studio 1, then Studio 2, 3… and wherever our curiosity takes us. **2:30–3:30 pm – Afternoon Tea at Frenchy’s** A little pause, a little conversation, and perhaps a little reflection on what we have discovered. **3:30–4:45 pm – Sculptures & Coastal Walk** Wander among the sculptures before taking a short stroll along the coastline. **Dress code** Coastal casual with comfortable walking shoes. A hat, sunscreen, sunglasses and a light jacket are recommended. SSP TUE - CITY LIGHT & SHADOWS IN MONOCHROME : Sydney’s Little Laneways

For this photography walk, we’ll explore a very different side of Sydney CBD — its narrow laneways, hidden passages, old sandstone walls and urban spaces — with a particular focus on **light, shadow and monochrome photography**. We will follow the City of Sydney Culture Walks route **“Hidden – Sydney’s Little Laneways”**, which winds through some of the lesser-known lanes and back streets of central Sydney. Rather than concentrating on Sydney’s familiar landmarks, the aim of this walk is to look more closely at the city itself: shafts of sunlight falling between tall buildings, deep shadows in narrow lanes, repeating architectural lines, reflections, textures, silhouettes and people moving through patches of light. During the walk, we’ll look for opportunities to photograph: * strong contrasts between sunlight and shadow * people and silhouettes entering pools of light * geometric shapes, lines and repeating patterns * sandstone, brick, concrete and other urban textures * narrow laneways framed by taller buildings * reflections and layered compositions * small details that become more striking when colour is removed ### **Meeting point:** Chambers Coffee, Gateway Sydney, 1 Macquarie Pl, Sydney NSW 2000 **Start:** 10:30 am **Approximate finish:** Around 12:30 pm **Lunch:** Venue to be confirmed After the walk, anyone who would like to stay is very welcome to join us for a relaxed lunch nearby. ### Come along, slow down, watch the light, and discover some of Sydney’s hidden corners in monochrome.
