MONDAY FUNDAY Volleyball 🏐 in Riverside Park

MONDAY FUNDAY Volleyball 🏐 in Riverside Park

Mon, Aug 17, 9:30 PM
From Upper West Side Volleyball Meetup
4.9

This is a low-key, just-for-fun volleyball meetup. All skill levels are welcome! We will meet in Riverside Park (NYC) weather permitting, at the 105th / 106th St volleyball courts. WHAT TO BRING: • Shoes: We will be playing on sand or asphalt courts based on availability and preference. I’d prepare for both just in case. If you don’t want to go barefoot in the sand, I’d suggest bringing closed-toed sneakers that can get a bit dirty. For the asphalt court, tennis shoes or basketball shoes would probably work best, but any general-purpose sneakers should do. • Plenty of Water, Sunscreen, Sunglasses, etc. Whatever you would normally bring for a couple of hours out in the sun. HOW TO FIND US (detailed version): Riverside Park is divided into three sections/levels along 101st - 120th st. The top level (after you enter the park and walk downhill) is a couple long walkways separated by grass sections. The mid-level (where the volleyball courts are located) is a long string of sports fields in front of the highway. The volleyball courts are adjacent to 106th st. / 105th st. (see map), but you will need to enter the park at 103rd or 108th st. and walk north or south depending on where you are coming from. From the walkway, walk down the stairs to the mid-level, and walk towards 106th St. Look for the large sandpit/monkey rings in between fields. The courts are not very recognizable on their own, (just a few poles in the sand/asphalt for hanging nets) but we will have some nets set up beforehand, so you should know it when you see it. 📣 Guidelines: RSVPs: If you RSVP, show up! No-shows without notice will not be tolerated. Repeated offenses may lead to penalties. Waitlist: Waitlisted players cannot play. Only those who are on RSVP can play without penalty. Respect Hosts: Follow host guidance & be open to feedback. Disruptive behavior may result in expulsion. Fair Play: Avoid hogging the ball Safety: Avoid kicking the ball and aggressive play to prevent injuries. TLDR: Please honor your RSVPs Players not signed up can NOT play Respect others & don’t hog the 🏐
