**The San Francisco Maritime National Park Association, in partnership with the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park and Litquake, is hosting a 24-hour Moby Dick reading marathon in the Maritime Museum.** Join us on September 12th & 13th from noon to noon for San Francisco's secret tradition, steeped in both maritime history and theatrical innovation! Come and watch The San Francisco Mime Troup Perform a Musical Tragic Comedy as they take a look at all that remains now and after this national nightmare is over. How can people survive this mess? I recommend that you bring portable camping chair or beach blanket / towels lay down on the grass and also to cover yourself from the sun, along with a hat, sunglasses and a fan to cover yourself and keep you cool.

Tango dance classes with Felipe and Ayano at La Bruja

Felipe Martinez and Ayano Yoneda are back to teach tango in Berkeley! This is a series of four classes, Wednesdays in August. Tango is an improvisational dance based on connection and communication. Felipe and Ayano teach the fundamental structures that give rise to grace, fluidity, and creativity in social dancing. These classes are taught using the terms "leaders" and "followers," and are inclusive to queer, trans, and non-binary people. Wednesdays: August 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th 6:45 pm: check-in 7:00-8:00 pm beginning tango series 8:00-8:30 pm practica 8:30-9:30 pm intermediate tango series 9:30-10:30 pm practica The intermediate series is geared towards people who have been dancing tango for about three months (12 tango classes). The practicas are included with the classes. Come Sing Show Tunes!

This event consists of an informal concert in which the performers are all of us! We'll take turns singing Broadway show tunes. All musical levels are welcome, whether you're an aspiring musical theater star or just someone who belts out show tunes in the shower. If you feel shy about singing a solo, it's okay to come and listen. We'll also do some group singing. Please think ahead and pick one or two solos you'd enjoy singing (this is not a firm commitment, you can change your mind if you get the jitters). Depending on how many people choose to sing, you'll either get to sing one or both of your songs. We don't usually have an accompanist, so after you pick your song(s), you can search for a suitable accompaniment on YouTube. Thursday Night Irish Set Dancing at the Plough and Stars

Come and take part in our decades-long tradition of Irish partner dancing on Thursday nights at the most authentic, most famous, and coziest Irish pub on the West Coast. SonoMusette is a terrific quintet that draws on the timeless works of Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel, and their contemporaries. International superstar Maggie Cheung (In the Mood for Love) embodies tragic screen siren Ruan Lingyu, known as the “Greta Garbo of China,” in this unconventional biopic by Hong Kong New Wave master Stanley Kwan (Rouge). Praised for her moving and emotive onscreen presence, Ruan’s private life, which was frequent fodder for the vicious Shanghai tabloids, began to mirror the melodramas which brought her fame, culminating in her suicide at age 24.
