Join us for a habitat restoration event! It’s a great opportunity to learn about native plants and local wildlife, all while spending some time outdoors in beautiful Baldwin Hills Parklands. This event is in partnership with California State Parks Foundation. Spaces are limited, so if you are interested in participating, **please RSVP to the coordinator at least 24hours in advance of the event: amendiaperez@naturenexusinstitute.org** Important things to know about this event: * Volunteers under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Habitat restoration tasks are best suited for people who are 12 years of age or older. * Please wear long pants and covered shoes. * Please bring plenty of drinking water for yourself as well as ample sun protection. * Work sites are frequently off trail and may be on uneven terrain. * We typically meet up at the top parking lot adjacent to the visitor center to start the event, but we work in several sites throughout the park. If you arrive late you may have trouble finding us. Please be sure to RSVP via the email above so we know to expect you!

Beach cleanup events involve community members gathering to remove trash and debris from beaches. Participants often work together to pick up litter and learn about the impact of pollution. It's a great opportunity to contribute to environmental conservation and meet people who care about keeping beaches clean.

To locate beach cleanups in Los Angeles, use Meetup to explore groups focused on environmental and community initiatives. You can search for cleanup events by entering relevant interests or keywords for a list of upcoming activities near you.

Yes, typically any interested individual can join a beach cleanup. These events are usually open to all ages and abilities, provided you can safely participate. Always check specific group requirements before attending.

Most beach cleanup organizers provide basic tools such as gloves and trash bags. However, bringing your own reusable gloves or any other helpful gear is often appreciated. Dressing appropriately for the weather and wearing sturdy shoes is also recommended.

Participating in beach cleanups is usually free. Some groups may ask for optional donations to support future activities, but joining these events generally requires no mandatory fee.
