The [Poplar Spring](https://www.animalsanctuary.org/) Annual Open House and Fundraiser is being held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 1 to 4 pm Join [VSDC](www.vsdc.org) and hundreds of people for the Open House, featuring a live band, catered vegan food and drinks, and a chance to stroll around and visit the rescued animals. Again, there is no admission fee, but donations (of any amount) to Poplar Spring are very much appreciated. Volunteer for Poplar Spring’s Open House

One of our biggest volunteer tasks is helping @poplarspringsanctuary at their annual open house. Poplar allows the public to come to the sanctuary for free for one day out of the year. Additionally, this day is one of Poplar’s biggest sources of donations and Rockville Vegans is so happy to help them create a positive experience for guests. Rockville Vegans helps set up the food station where all visitors receive a free vegan meal and dessert. We also help clean up after the event ends. Volunteers can come for a morning or afternoon shift or stay the whole time. We can use all the help we can get, and any amount of time you can spare we would greatly appreciate it. Volunteer perks include the following: 1️⃣ A thank you gift from Poplar (historically that includes a water bottle or picnic blanket) 2️⃣ First dibs at the food donated generously by local businesses. Volunteers always get to eat first. 3️⃣ A reserved dessert just for volunteers to enjoy after clean up 4️⃣ Cow hugs and affection from the animals. Typically the cows and other animals stray away from the crowds. During clean up, when the sanctuary is quiet again, you can get some one on one time with the beautiful animals that love pets from the volunteers. **It is IMPORTANT that you change your RSVP if you can’t make it. If you sign up we will be counting on you to be there.**

Lake Anne Brew House Saturday BEER RUN

Run starts promptly at 9:45 am and follows a 1.5 mile loop around the lake. Do however many loops you like! Run at your own pace. After the run, we'll meet at the Brew House for a beer or coffee and BREAKFAST pretzels! Those cannot be anything but delicious. See you there.
