London Link Up #01 - The Table

Following the success of an informal link up between connections, we’re curating a space for good food and connection building. As I relocated to London, I wish to connect with all of the amazing people within my London based network to connect within a social setting; as I and others move to the capital let's combat this idea of London being a lonely place. According to the Office of National Statistics due to pressures around cost of living, digital technology and transportation some people feel an inate sense of loneliness within the city. **The Format** The inaugural link up took place as a private affair in September 2026, our founder booked a table at a street food market and we came together and had a fantastic time. We decided we wanted to come back together and bring people together - enjoy great food and make connections. There will be different formats; initially we will rotate between the three formats on a monthly basis - we will then take stock to see if we wish to make it more frequent: * Table: We book a space, usually in a multi-vendor location so that people can get exactly what they like. * Coffee + Walk: We meet at an independent coffee shop/ bakery and then go for a walk to take in the local area ending in another independent coffee shop/ bakery or for lunch/ drinks. * Social: A fun activity bringing people together such as darts, crazy gold or bowling. **The Logistics** * Please be aware this is a ticketed event. * The venue is Mercarto Metropolitano, a street food indoor market near the Elephant & Castle. * There is no paid commitment for the tickets, however, if you cannot make it please refund your ticket. We have booked a table for 10, which we can increase/decrease accordingly. The table is booked for 5pm, stay for as long or as little as you'd like. * There are several food vendors and bars around the venue, go up and help yourself with what you want. * The nearest stations are Elephant & Castle (Northern Line, Bakerloo Line and National Rail services) and Lambeth North (Bakerloo Line); Waterloo is also nearby, there are several bus routes that serve the area. **The Founder** The founder and host is Ben Hobbis, a serving primary school senior leader who relocated to London from the West Midlands in September 2026. In 2023, he founded the Step Up Network CIC, an award-winning social enterprise and community interest company to empower, connect and impact educators to step up and develop as successful and sustainable leaders being able to balance the demands of schools whilst not impacting negatively on the rest of their lives. Ben has since gone onto found other not-for-profits, speak regularly and advise others organisations whilst balancing multiple commitments.

After Work Drinks - 30s, 40s & beyond - Out of Office Adventures Together!

Are you in your 30s or 40s or beyond.... and want to make the most of your time outside of the office. Does relaxed after work drinks in the City sound good to you. No organised activities, no awkward icebreakers and definitely no networking pitches. Just a small group of people in their 30s, 40s and beyond getting together for a drink, a chat and hopefully meeting some people they’d actually like to see again. This is the beginning of the OOO community, so it’s also a chance to chat about the kinds of things we’d love to do next — from London socials to hikes and day trips. Are you a young professional in your 20s/30s looking to meet other LGBT young professionals? Then we hope to see you at the upcoming Tuesday drinks! Most people come to these drinks by themselves, and half of the people are first-timers, so these evenings are great to meet new people in London. We have tables reserved on the top floor (loft) of The Yard bar in Soho. Go into the Yard, turn left, and head upstairs. Just ask the bar for the tables reserved for the "Meetup". We usually have the tables opposite to the bar. Many have noticed that it can be difficult to meet up with the LGBT community once you leave university or come to a big new city such as London. For this reason we've decided to start organising drinks for young professionals, intended for those who love to have a drink with like-minded people after a busy day of work. Do spread the word, and bring friends, colleagues and family! Frequently Asked Questions: It's my first time and I'm coming alone, should I be nervous? No, you found the right event! Almost everyone joins these drinks alone and there are always a bunch of first timers. Just grab a drink and say hi to those around the reserved tables and you'll be absolutely fine :) I cannot make it at 7.00pm, can I come later? Yes, definitely! There will always be one of the organisers present from 7.00pm onwards, but most people just join whenever they can. There is no official 'start' so to say, and it usually stays busy till around 10pm-11pm. For first timers it can be easier to mingle if you come before 8pm, when it's not that busy yet. How often are the drinks and where are they held? We have drinks every two weeks from 7.00pm at The Yard Bar in Soho. Sometimes we organise other events such as big nights out, pub crawls and picnics. Just keep an eye on the Meetup page. Is there a dress code? Nope, not at all. Just wear whatever you want. Is there a cost? Only for whatever drinks you buy at the bar. That said, if you enjoy the Meetup, we would really welcome any cash donations to help cover our costs for running the events. However, you will never be directly asked for any money from any of our team. Are the Tuesday drinks for networking? No, the drinks are super casual, and not intended to find your new dream job. We have people from all different professional backgrounds, so it's always cool to hear what others are up to. I don't drink alcohol, can I come? Of course!
