If you plan on going into the lake, please bring gumboots knee high. These can be purchased from Kmart or Anaconda or other stores. We will book a 24 seater bus with a driver. **WALK DESCRIPTION:** Come join 25+ of our members on these walks in the hills around Lake Eildon, which contain many good walking opportunities. This new Sunday walk variation starts on the higher hills for a more relaxed downhill experience with impressive views across the lake before walking along the shoreline where a scenic, shady, gently undulating Grade 4 track will guide us back to the waiting bus at Wallaby Bay carpark. Both walks capture the essence of walking in the Eildon National Park, starting from the same bus drop-off point and following a ridge-line track with impressive views of the surrounding hills and Lake Eildon. After descending to the lower levels the longer walk includes a side-trip to Stones Outstation, an historic hut, before following the same route as the shorter walk around the lake edge. Please carry at least 2 litres of water and bring a change of shoes for the trip back. . **DISTANCE(S):** 13km and 16km . **TOTAL ASCENT(S):** 350m Rise and 400m Rise . **GRADINGS:** Easy/Medium and Medium **Easy/Medium (E/M):** More consistent walking, mostly on tracks or in open country, but with some significant hills, probably some stretches of light scrub. Possibility of some rock hopping. Distances up to 19km but may be much shorter depending on the difficulty of the terrain. Reasonable lunch and rest stops. **Medium (M):** Consistent walking on tracks or in open bushland, usually with patches of thicker scrub, several moderate climbs, and/or rock hopping. Join me for a full day out at Werribee Open Range Zoo — open grasslands, a free safari bus ride past rhinos, giraffes and zebras, and keeper talks running right through the day. It's one of those places that feels a long way from the city without actually being far at all. We'll travel out together by public transport. Meet me at Boost Juice inside Southern Cross Station at 7:45am, we'll walk to the platform together and catch the 8:04am train, then the connecting bus to the zoo, arriving around 9:29am. If that's too early for you, you're very welcome to make your own way there and meet us at the zoo entrance instead — just let me know so we can look out for you. Once we're in we'll take our time: hop on the safari bus, catch a few keeper talks, wander the walking trails and stop for lunch somewhere along the way. Join us for a morning walk and good company, followed by an optional Turkish brunch! Come along for the walk only or stay for both. 😊 🌳 THE WALK We’ll start and finish at Project Turkish Cafe, with a route through Royal Park and Princes Park. We’re planning approximately 2 hours of walking, returning around 11:00 am. You’re welcome to walk at your own pace. The group may spread out, and we won’t necessarily stay together or stop to regroup. Please familiarise yourself with the route and be comfortable finding your way back independently. Please arrive at 8:45 am so we’re ready to leave at 9:00 am. Allow extra time for travel and parking. Run + Coffee : Long Run ~11km Yarra Trail, Southbank & finish at Kanteen

Join my "Long Easy Run" training run along the Yarra Trail. A lot of new members have listed "Running" as one of their activities, so here's a chance to get out for a run. The trail is very flat and scenic along the river and into Southbank and makes for a very enjoyable morning run. I'll be running at a slow-moderate pace between 6:25 and 5:50 minute/km depending on the terrain. Regular runners can maintain a conversation at this pace. This is a long run from my Garmin training program. 10 min warm up (target pace \~6:30 min/km) 50 min at 6:15 min/km target average pace 10 min cool down (target pace \~6:30 min/km) You can stay with the group or choose your own pace. The trail is easy to follow and we all meet at the end at Kanteen so you can choose to go much faster or take your time. Just let me know at the start what you plan to do. Regardless of pace, the aim is to arrive at Kanteen at around 10:30am. The map above is the running trail. * Start at the Richmond Boulie Carpark on the Yarra Trail. * Run along the Northern bank of the Yarra river * **Cross over at Ponyfish Island** to the South bank of the Yarra river * Run along the South bank heading East until you reach Kanteen We finish at Kanteen where you can grab a coffee, cold drink or snack. Hike: Halloween 🎃 9.8 km Flying Fox Loop + Picnic

* Can't deal with big crowds at the city social Halloween celebrations? * Can't face trying to be cheery at the Halloween parties after a really shite week at work and need a nature fix? 🤔 * Not looking forward to pretending not to be home when trick or treaters knock on your door and the closest you have to a treat are 1 year old CLIF Bars 🧗 you got from the last Banff Film Fesitval? If any of the above resonate with you, then come celebrate Halloween with a walk around the Main Yarra Trail looping through Fairfield Boat House and visiting the Flying Fox colony along the Yarra River and finishing back where we started at Studley Park Boathouse. The circuit is 9.8km long over paved trail or easy dirt trails along the river. Once we get back to Studley Park Picnic area, we'll find a table and grab our picnic food from the cars and have snacks and drinks and wait for the flying foxes to take off overhead to complete our Halloween Evening. Fingers crossed for clear warm weather. I'll be aiming for a brisk pace (10 min/km, 6km/h) on the paved sections, and slowing during the scenic sections. I will adjust to suit the terrain, but be prepared to put in a bit of effort to work up an appetite so you can indulge in a treat at the end! Dressing up is optional. Wear something in theme if you have it. **What to bring:** * Sense of humour * Positive attitude * Adventurous spirit (AKA a tolerance for a lot of crap going wrong) * Picnic food for after the walk.
