Indoor Rock Climbing (Urban Climb Blackburn ) - First-time to Advanced
Mon, Sep 21, 8:00 AM**Urban Climb Blackburn** Never climbed before? No worries at all! You're very welcome here! Just complete a quick safety induction when you arrive and the staff will walk you through everything you need to know to climb safely indoors. It's easy, friendly, and won't take long. The venue has plenty to enjoy, including a bouldering cave, speed wall, sauna facilities, and sparkling water to keep you going. This group is primarily focused on rope climbing, top roping and lead climbing, but if you'd prefer to stick to bouldering while you find your feet, that's absolutely fine too! Many of our members have their lead pass and gear, but there's no pressure at all. **Finding us:** If you arrive on time, look for us gathered around the couches in the bouldering area. We're a friendly bunch, so just come and say hi! Running a little late? No stress, just let the staff up the front know you're with the Climb Meetup group and they'll make an announcement. Someone will come and find you and introduce you around. A few of our regulars also wear a black shirt with the old logo, so keep an eye out for those. **A note on numbers:** The meetup runs every Monday and many regular members come along independently without RSVPing through the group, so the crowd is often bigger than it looks on the attendee list! If you're ever unsure whether people will be there or worried it might be a tiny group, feel free to drop the organisers a message beforehand and we'll put your mind at ease. **Fees:** Entry is paid directly to Urban Climb. You can find current pricing at [urbanclimb.com.au/pricing](https://urbanclimb.com.au/pricing/). If you hold a climbing membership elsewhere, it's worth checking your member benefits as you may be eligible for a discount. For venue info and the first-time waiver, visit [urbanclimb.com.au/locations/blackburn](https://urbanclimb.com.au/locations/blackburn/). **Stay connected:** We also have a facebook group [https://www.facebook.com/groups/663576119053808](https://www.facebook.com/groups/663576119053808) with a chat function; a great way to connect with members before or after a session!

South Melbourne to St Kilda Pier Beach Walk
Sun, Sep 20, 8:15 AMJoin us for a relaxed evening walk along the beach from South Melbourne towards St Kilda Pier. We’ll follow the waterfront path, with bay views, beach paths, and a social, low-pressure pace. The full AllTrails route is about 7.1 km return, listed as moderate, with minimal elevation. AllTrails also lists it as an out-and-back trail, so we can keep the plan flexible depending on how people are feeling. You can choose what suits you: * Shorter option: walk one way towards St Kilda Pier and head off from there. Trams are available nearby. * Full option: walk back with the group towards South Melbourne. This is a casual walk, not a fitness challenge. We’ll keep an easy social pace, and you’re welcome to leave early if you prefer the shorter option. **Links** Meetup start point: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/nGWgU4Fni1xPMgPG7](https://maps.app.goo.gl/nGWgU4Fni1xPMgPG7) AllTrails route link: [https://www.alltrails.com/trail/australia/victoria/st-kilda-pier-via-south-melbourne-beach](https://www.alltrails.com/trail/australia/victoria/st-kilda-pier-via-south-melbourne-beach) **Rough timeline** * 6:15pm – Meet outside South Melbourne Life Saving Club * 6:30pm – Start walking towards St Kilda * Around 7:15pm – Arrive near St Kilda Pier / short-walk finish option * 7:15–8:30pm – Return walk towards South Melbourne, with optional food or gelato depending on the group * 8:30pm – Meetup ends **What to bring** Comfortable walking shoes, water, and a warm layer. **What to expect** * Distance: About 7.1 km return for the full option * Difficulty: Moderate according to AllTrails, but mostly straightforward waterfront walking * Pace: Slow, easy, and social * Vibe: Relaxed, low-pressure, and welcoming to solo attendees **Important notes** * You can do the shorter one-way option and finish near St Kilda Pier. * You can leave early if needed. * The walk is weather-dependent, so please check the forecast and dress warmly. * We’ll aim to stay together, but the route is simple and flexible. * Optional food or gelato will depend on the group on the night.

Beginner-Friendly Golf Night at Melbourne Golf Park
Fri, Oct 9, 7:30 AMJoin me for a relaxed Friday evening at the driving range at Melbourne Golf Park in Albert Park. We'll grab some bays, hit a bucket of balls under the lights, and enjoy a bit of easy company to round off the week. This is a social hit, not a lesson and definitely not a competition. If you've never picked up a club before, you're very welcome — the range has over 60 bays across two levels with Trackman screens, clubs are available to hire at reception, and the venue says there's no dress code. Come as you are. We'll meet at the reception of Melbourne Golf Park at 6:30pm, sort out bays and balls together, then head in and start hitting from about 6:45pm. We'll share the cost of the bays and balls between whoever comes along, paid at reception on the night. **Who this is for** * Complete beginners who've always been a bit curious about golf * Anyone who plays occasionally and wants a casual hit with company * Experienced golfers happy to hit a few and chat rather than work on their handicap * Coming solo? Perfect — most people do, and you'll have plenty of people to talk to **Links** * Meetup start point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8HjWCQHERuCT9CL99 * Melbourne Golf Park: https://www.melbournegolfpark.com.au/ * Driving range: https://www.melbournegolfpark.com.au/driving-range * Pricing: https://www.melbournegolfpark.com.au/costs#driving-range **Timeline** * 6:30pm – Meet at the reception of Melbourne Golf Park and say hi * 6:45pm – Head to the bays and start hitting * 8:30pm – Meetup ends **Tickets / cost** * There's no Meetup fee — you just cover your share of what we spend at the range. * We'll sort bays, balls and any club hire at reception when we arrive and split the cost between us. * Melbourne Golf Park currently lists evening buckets from around $23.50 for 50 balls and $31 for 100, with club hire at $10 for a driver and $5 for an iron. Prices are theirs and can change, so check the pricing link above for the latest. **Transport** * The range is at 23 Aughtie Drive, Albert Park, beside MSAC at the northern end of Albert Park Lake. * Coming by public transport, check PTV for the best tram or bus option from your side of town. **Bring** * Your own clubs if you have them — otherwise we'll hire a few at reception and split the cost * Comfortable clothes and closed-toe shoes * A jacket, it can get cool once the sun goes down * Water, and a card for paying your share **Expect** * Difficulty: Easy — no experience needed * Pace: Relaxed — we'll share clubs and bays, so expect a bit of taking turns and chatting between swings. * Vibe: Friendly and low-pressure, nobody is judging your swing * Group style: Sharing bays, mixing, and having a laugh **Important notes** * This is a casual social meetup arranged so we can head along together — it isn't run by, affiliated with, or endorsed by Melbourne Golf Park. An RSVP here isn't a ticket and doesn't include entry or balls. * Please arrive by 6:30pm so we can sort bays together. If you're running late, come find us at the bays. * Golf clubs move fast — please stay behind the bay line, keep clear of others swinging, and follow all venue rules and staff instructions. * Take part within your own ability. You're joining at your own risk and you're responsible for your own safety and wellbeing on the day. * If your plans change, please update your RSVP so numbers stay clear.
