9/11 Birds and the Bees - Dark English Comedy Fringe Preview

9/11 Birds and the Bees - Dark English Comedy Fringe Preview

Wed, Jul 29, 5:30 PM
From Berlin Comedy in English
4.5

A dark Stand-up comedy hour in English about surviving the world's most infamous terrorist attack Edinburgh Fringe Preview of critically acclaimed solo hour comes to Berlin! [Tickets](https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1994750398138) Where were you on 9/11? Sitting in school? Sitting on the toilet? Nowhere of note? Well, Sofia May, the other hand, was running—for her life— from the dust cloud and debris as the World Trade Center toppled next to her school in downtown Manhattan and now, as an adult, she's processed a lot of that trauma, continues to grieve, and is ready to get hilarious. In this stand-up comedy solo hour, Sofia May takes the audience on a gruesome comedic journey of her experience as a tween survivor of the history's most outrageous terrorist attack. [Tickets](https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1994750398138) "It’s the kind of story that, on paper, shouldn’t be funny and yet in Sofia’s hands, it absolutely is. Her delivery is fearless, and the material so far beyond the usual stand-up fare that it makes every “dating trauma” or “annoying in-law” anecdote feel laughably trivial." — The Nerd Party "Sofia was a student at the school closest to the towers when they fell on 9/11 and has been in therapy ever since. But this isn’t one of those Edinburgh Fringe sob story shows; it’s an hour of engaging and wickedly dark humour that Sofia navigates with a Cheshire Cat-like grin" — European Comedy Review [Tickets](https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1994750398138) ________________________________________________________________ Venue: Hier Wo Du Strahlst ([Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 20, 10178 Berlin](https://www.google.com/maps/place//data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x47a84f3fda4f0415:0xe3d4dff6f5d57bf1?sa=X&ved=1t:8290&ictx=111 "https://www.google.com/maps/place//data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x47a84f3fda4f0415:0xe3d4dff6f5d57bf1?sa=X&ved=1t:8290&ictx=111")) Doors: 19:30 Showtime: 20:00 - 21:00 ________________________________________________________________ PAY WHAT YOU CAN About: Sofia May was born and raised in New York City on Ren and Stimpy and bad boundaries. Her comedy style is dark and whimsical. People often say, “She’s so innocent! Just like O.J. Simpson!”. She has performed all over Europe, in London, NYC, SF, and the Edinburgh Fringe the last 3 years. She performs on a nightly basis in Berlin and produces the weekly show Stand-up at The Shine. Awards: Best Performer at the Edinburgh Fringe - European Comedy Awards Shortlisted Nominee For Best Newcomer - British Comedy Guide's Comedian Choice AwardsReviews: "– and Sofia May, whose charming stage presence suggests the most potential." — The Guardian "She gives off the vibe that she’d give you a hug if you needed it, and while delivering said hug, stick a sign on your back that says a whole bunch of slurs." —European Comedy Review "Sofia May delivers a masterclass in pitch-black comedy." — The Nerd Party "A Stand-out Stand-up" — One4Review [Tickets](https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/1994750398138)

1 EURO DONATION FEE PER PERSON IS REQUIRED (on site, in cash), to pay back the Meetup subscription fees and support my Events. READ THE DESCRIPTION WITH THE INFO (IMPORTANT). We take a walk in Berlin to meet new people or people we already know 😁 It's a way to spend a few hours together on a Sunday afternoon. **How it works?** The concept is very simple: * We meet at Alexanderplatz Station at 14,30 o'clock (we use the Whatsapp Chat to find each other: I will post there my exact location in the station) * I wait for people for 10 minutes, till 14,40, then we start to walk direction West, crossing Museum Island and Mitte 🏛️🏘️ * We reach Tiergarten and we will cross the entire park, seeing some of its interesting points🌲🌳☘️ * We finally reach Café am Neuen See: [https://maps.app.goo.gl/kSui84icxyU6hQG56](https://maps.app.goo.gl/kSui84icxyU6hQG56) to sit down together to take something to drink or eat 🥐☕🍪 * The total length of the walk is about 8kms I consider that the event will last in overall around 4 hours (2 hours of walk and 2 hours at Café am Neuen See), but people are free to stay together longer, if they want 🙂 What I provide is leading the walk and the people at Café am Neuen See, but I do not force anyone to stay shorter or longer. I do not provide a "personal support" for people who arrive after 14,40 (do not write to me expecting "private support"). You are responsible to check for the weather and decide if come or not. Thanks for understanding. If you have to contact me, make it via Whatsapp, not here on Meetup. WHATSAPP GROUP 💬 to find each other (join it, we use this group to find and synchronize us) [https://docs.google.com/document/d/157uLVXObKt1a4NqqvPa09NJW-050YBwHLW-7DbOD8R8/](https://docs.google.com/document/d/157uLVXObKt1a4NqqvPa09NJW-050YBwHLW-7DbOD8R8/)
