Waterskiing/Wakeboarding at the Sacramento Delta: September 24-27

Greetings All, We will be heading to the Sacramento River Delta. It is a great place to wakeboard, waterski, sky-ski and camp. Century City Ski Club has been going to this location for well over 30 years. This years dates are: June 25-28 July 16-19 August 13-16 September 24-27 You can arrive on the Wednesday afternoon before the trip to setup camp. We will not be supplying anything on Wednesday. The actual trip starts on Thursday morning with Breakfast. The trip ends on Sunday around 11 or 12 in the afternoon. Please help wash and wipe down the boats when they are pulled out of the water. These are 2, 3 or 4 day trips. The costs are: $175 for Saturday-Sunday, $349 Friday-Sunday or $439 Thursday-Sunday If you just want to camp and eat with us, the costs are half of the above prices. Please contact us for more info. We accept Zelle (preferred), Venmo, Checks and Cash. There is an extra fee for campers (RV's $35 per day) and pets ($4 per day). Email us for pricing. Before you leave for the delta, contact us to see if there are any others that might need a ride. We do not supply transportation to the delta, so carpooling will help you and others. We supply food and beverages for Breakfast, Happy Hour and Dinner. Lunch is on your own (if we have on Friday and Saturday leftovers you can indulge in, but ask before taking), there is a café near the camp site. We do not supply vests, skis, wake-boards or sky ski's.... BUT... we do have extras, so ask if you don't have any we will try and help. We supply the boat(s). You'll need a tent or RV or Trailer (added fee for parking RV and Trailer) or any other kind of sleeping arrangement (car camping). Please contact us for more info. Please remember to bring lots of sunscreen, a hat and towels. The weather can change from cold to hot and hot to cold in minutes, so bring something to keep warm just in case. **Please join the waitlist for overnight camping at Mt Pacifico Campground!** **Bring your favorite coffee or tea to brew and chillax, and camp overnight on a peaceful mountaintop, at 7,100’ elevation.** **The campground is free, with picnic tables, fire pits, and vault toilets.** **There is no water at the campground.** **Park your vehicle at the Mill Creek Summit Picnic Area off Angeles Forest Hwy.** **Google for directions.** **Adventure Pass not required if you park directly across the highway from the Mill Creek sign.** **>>HIKE/BACKPACK:** **Start anytime.** **PCT trailhead leading up to the campground is next to the Mill Creek sign.** **It’s 6 miles on the PCT up to the campground.** **No need to carry extra water, we’ll have plenty of water for you.** **>>DRIVE/CARPACK/BIKE/BIKEPACK:** **Start anytime.** **Use the fire road just past the fire station.** **It’s 6 miles on the dirt fire road.** **High clearance vehicles recommended during the last mile to the campground.** **Outbacks and RAV4’s are fine.** **CAMP RULES: No politics, no drama, no hard drugs, no spitting** **If you have any questions please comment below. Beachwood Canyon: Fall Classic Stair Hike #1 - 2.6 mi, 2 hours

Summer is ending so let’s get out and enjoy cooler evenings, city views, architectural gems and long, steep staircases guaranteed to get your heart pumping. While exploring Beachwood Canyon's historic neighborhood (climbing up or down over 800 steps), learn about the Sierra Club's Wilderness Travel Course and train for fall backcountry trips! After such a hot summer, we can look forward to fall and the Fall Classic–go Dodgers! Meet at 2695 N Beachwood Drive 90068, in front of the Beachwood Cafe. Bring water, adventurous spirit, strong legs, and a love of stair hikes. Flashlight or headlamp suggested. No restrooms.

ORCHARD CAMP

Now that it is getting a little cooler lets do a short but sweet hike to Orchard Camp. We will start early and If it gets too hot then I will re-schedule. Here is the plan: We will hike on the Mt Wilson trail then take a minor detour on Charlie's trail before making our way to Orchard Camp. This will be an out n back hike. We will not take Charlies Trail on the return so it will be all downhill. **Stats:** distance- 7 miles gain- 2000' (approx) level- strong intermediate. NO BEGINNERS PLEASE! parking- free Please respect parking signs: make sure tires are turned towards the curb or the city will give you a ticket. Beaudry Loop - Night hike, ~ 6 miles w 1,400+ elevation gain

FRIDAY--Easy Night walk around Silverlake

Silverlake can be quite beautiful at night. Walk is mostly easy 2.2 miles RT around the lake. Walk is approx. 1 hour. There is short uphill on this walk--approx. 10 minutes Some members go to the local Oyster bar afterwards. **Rain will cancel walk. Dogs ok as long as on leash.** Parking: Street parking. There is more parking when you park along the lake --along W. Silverlake Dr.

Sierra Club Griffith Park Tuesday Evening Hikes

**If you don't have a current waiver card, please come early (\~6:40pm on) to sign the required waiver form ("participation agreement") and get your *PINK waiver card*, good until the end of 2026.** Come and enjoy a great evening of hiking and conversation with fellow hikers. These conditioning hikes range in level from fairly easy (level 1) through moderate (levels 2 and 3) to advanced hikes (levels 4, 5, and 6). All levels have hills; terrain is sometimes steep with uneven footing. Because hikers are expected to maintain the pace set by hike leaders, newcomers should not hike above level 3 and may wish to start at level 2. >>>**On Tuesday & Thursday evenings, we offer \*simultaneous\* hikes at a variety of levels.** **While some levels may not be offered on a given evening, we try to cover a range of levels.**<<< Hikes are led by trained leaders and last approximately 2 hrs. Hikes begin at 7pm; newcomers should get there early to fill out a waiver and should carry the waiver card with them on the hikes. There are usually 30-60 people at the hikes. **What to bring:** Bring water and a light jacket in case it gets cold. Hiking boots/shoes or other shoes with good traction are necessary for the harder hikes (levels 3-5) and are strongly encouraged for all hikes; tennis shoes with good tread may be sufficient for the more moderate hikes (levels 1 & 2). Flashlights are optional; many leaders discourage their use except in emergencies. If flashlights are used, red lights are preferable as they interfere less with night vision. Please, no radios or other sound-producing devices that others can hear. If earbuds are used, please leave one out to maintain awareness of surroundings. Leashed, well-behaved dogs are at the discretion of the leader. This is a front country outing. **Contagious disease considerations:** Note that both vaccinated and unvaccinated people may be present; everyone is encouraged to keep their distance and respect each others' need to do so. After around a mile, you’ll come to a 4-way intersection, with the Ranger station on your right. Make a left (going west). At the top of the road you’re forced to turn right into the (unlit) lot #1. Drive through the lot and along the road that leaves the opposite corner. You’ll soon come to lot #2, which is lit. The Sierra Club meets at the far (north) end of the lot, by the stone steps. Going north on the 5 from Downtown LA, you can also get off at the Griffith Park exit and take Crystal Springs going north, following the directions above.
