Markham City Sketches: Weekly Urban Explorations

We are getting together this weekend for another session of Markham City Sketches. If you enjoy capturing the character of our city on paper and appreciate the company of fellow sketchers, you are more than welcome to join us. We will be spending a few hours finding interesting corners of Markham to draw, whether that is a quiet streetscape, a local landmark, or the bustle of a public square. There is no pressure to produce a masterpiece; the goal is simply to get outside, observe our surroundings, and enjoy the process of sketching in good company. This event is open to everyone regardless of your skill level or the materials you prefer to use. Whether you are a seasoned artist with a full kit or someone who just likes to carry a simple pen and a small notebook, you will fit right in. We usually take a little time at the end of the session to share our sketches and chat about what we noticed while drawing. Downtown Cat Moms Wine Night: Show and Tell at Bar Piquette

Let’s be honest: I’m hosting this because I want to see your cats. You bring your phone full of cat pictures, I bring the enthusiasm, and Bar Piquette brings the wine. **What we'll do:** We’ll drink some delicious wine (or mocktails), order food if we’re hungry, pass our phones around to show off our cats, and just chat. It’s a small group of 6 lovely ladies around one table, so it’s easy to talk to everyone and nobody gets lost in a crowd. **Bonus: find your cat sit buddy** If you’d like, I’ll match you with a cat mom who lives near you. She looks after your cat when you travel, and you look after hers when she’s away. It’s free, and it’s my way of building a little cat community in the neighbourhood. This event is held in **The Backyard Pickleball Club** and is open to players of all levels. While you can register directly through their website, registering through me gives you access to personal guidance and brief complimentary coaching tips on the court. * **Game Play:** For now, we will mix in and play with all participants at the club.
