Meet to draw each other in San Francisco!

Take a turn modeling (nude) then just draw for the rest of the session. Looking forward to seeing old and new friends! Optional $10 donation to cover studio rent is suggested but not required. We will supply chairs but bring your own drawing materials, such as pencil, paper, and drawing board if you have one. (No oil paints, solvents, or fixative inside the building.) Open to all levels of experience.

Meetup at Britex, Sewcialize + Shop!

Come to Britex Fabrics, meet other sewists, sewcialize, and shop! Snacks will also be provided by Britex. All attendees will get 20% off regularly priced fabrics, excluding lace, leather, Liberty, and specialty fabrics. The store will be open just for us and you can shop until 2 pm! This San Francisco institution has been a sewing destination since 1952. You'll find fabrics from all over the world. We'll get an overview of their fabrics and Britex staff will be on hand to answer questions. You are welcome to submit questions when you RSVP. Feel free to wear something you made. If you’d like to find out where other sewists are from, please arrive on time or you will miss the introductions. **Agenda** 11–11:15 - Introductions - everyone will have a chance to introduce themselves. You can find out who is in your area/city. 11:15-12:15 - Brief overview of fabrics and Britex staff will answer questions, followed by group photo 12:15-2 - Sewcialize and shop! Fabric Swap, Sewcial & Scissors Sharpening!

Ready to do some destashing and/or get fabric that's new to you? Come to our fabulous Fabric Swap! You do not need to bring fabric to attend. See below for details on how the swap works. Bring your fabric (1/2 yard minimum) - leftover yardage from a project, fabric you know you won't use but could be great for someone else. It's also the perfect time to get free fabric to make your mock-ups! **Please label your fabric**, note the yardage and fiber content (cotton, wool, rayon, poly, a blend, knit, etc.). We will have tables labeled by fabric content and category (i.e. home decor, knits). If you don't know the fiber content, don't worry. We'll have a table labeled "mystery fabric." **TIP:** **ROLL YOUR FABRIC** and use a rubber band, ribbon, or string to keep it rolled. It will take up less room on the tables, which get really full! **How the swap works:** We'll have five selection rounds. For each piece of fabric you bring, you get to participate in one selection round. You can select one piece of fabric per round. For example, if you brought three pieces of fabric, you get to select one piece of fabric for the first three rounds. The last round is open to all! The actual fabric swap part doesn't take very long (about 20 minutes) so we'll have plenty of time to sewcialize before and after the swap. **IMPORTANT:** All leftover fabric will be donated to the library, which will have some upcoming sewing events. You are welcome to take your fabric back. \*\*\*You are welcome to bring snacks to share. Just wrap your dull shears/ knives/tools in a towel and attach your name and number. They will arrive by 1:30 pm to pick up whatever you need sharpened (scissors, knifes, tools). They will sharpen them outside and bring them back by 3 pm. (Prices: fabric scissors: $15; knives: $1.50-$1.75 per inch depending on type of blade; pruning shears: $9; speciality services: $20-30). **Here's what they say about their servivces:** To sharpen fabric shears, we use a precision flat hone machine and finish off with traditional Japanese whetstone. Each blade is handle with great care - we always aim to shave off the least amount of metal to preserve the integrity of your shears. Bring your curiosity. The goal of this session will be take the circuits previously built as prototypes and wire them in a permanent enclosure.

**\*\*Meeting a bit earlier than usual to beat the crowds that typically arrive at 10am at this cafe!\*\*** Come join us for our bi-weekly Coffee & Crafting to enjoy some good food and good company among other fiber artists while working on your latest WIP! As always, all types of fiber artists are welcome. \*\*\* *About the Location:* Espresso Roma Cafe is an Italian style cafe with a lovely covered patio full of greenery. They offer both lighter pastry options as well as full meals perfect for brunch, and of course coffee and tea. *How to Get There:* Bus: next to stops for the 12 route. 2 blocks from the 688 route. 10-12 min walk (0.5 miles) from the 79 and 52 routes. BART: 13 minute walk (0.6 miles) from North Berkeley Station Parking: street parking available. Would recommend turning off Hopkins to a residential street like California or McGee, where your luck will be better.

Coffee Talk at Olivia Coffee + Flowers

If you haven’t been to Olivia Coffee + Flowers you’re in for a treat! They serve/sell beans exclusively from Gan Gyeul, a South Korean roaster. They even have the beans ground so you can get a better sense of what they taste like. As per usual, bring beans that you’re drinking that you’re enjoying as well as some bags if you’d like to trade beans with others (not required, just for fun). Looking forward to seeing everyone!

CHM - Soldering practice and circuit testing with an oscilloscope Part 2

Build a function generator and practice soldering at the same time. With a soldering kit that we provide, you will assemble a circuit that generates sine-waves, triangle-waves, and square-waves. Then you will test the circuit with an oscilloscope. This kit is a little above the beginner level, so we plan to extend this project into a second week. Once your function generator is working, you can pair up with another workshop participant and observe two function generators sending waves to an oscilloscope in "X-Y" mode. This pattern is called a Lissajoues Figure.
