Sunday Silent Reading @ Bode Museum
Sun, Sep 13, 8:30 AMWelcome to the **Silent Reading Club** – a cosy gathering for book lovers who enjoy the simple pleasure of reading together in good company. Bring any book you're excited about (or finally meaning to finish!) and spend a peaceful Sunday morning surrounded by fellow readers. **Everyone is welcome, and every book belongs here.** *(Please RSVP "Yes" only if you can attend, so we can save a seat for you and offer any remaining spots to readers on the waitlist.)* 📍 **Where:** Café (1st floor), Bode Museum There's no entrance fee. We simply ask that you support our wonderful host by ordering at least one drink or snack from the café, and please don't bring outside food or drinks. No assigned books. No discussions you have to join. No reading goals to hit. Just an hour of uninterrupted reading in a room full of people who love books as much as you do. We'll be spread across a few tables, so simply grab a seat wherever you like, settle in, and say hello if you're feeling social. **Schedule** **10:30–11:00** – Arrive, grab a coffee (or breakfast!), and chat with fellow readers **11:00–12:00** – Quiet reading hour **12:00–12:30** – Optional social time: talk about your current read, swap recommendations, or simply keep turning pages. Feel free to stay for lunch afterwards—you never know, your next favourite book (or a new friend) might be just one conversation away.

Saturday Afternoon Creative Coffee, Board Games, Karaoke, & Talk
Sat, Sep 12, 3:00 PM**Special Meetup & Karaoke Event! 🌍🎤** While we usually gather at a&o Friedrichshain, we're excited to host another event at a&o Berlin HBF, a special kickoff evening bringing travelers and locals together in a brand-new space. Whether you're flying solo, exploring the city, or simply looking to expand your circle, this is the perfect place to connect. Here's what awaits you at our new HBF location: **Global Connections:** Meet, chat, and play with friendly people from around the world in a warm, relaxed atmosphere. **Mic & Games:** Regular board games as usual, then at 7:30 PM we join the A&O team's event with optional karaoke, quizzes, and games. **Good Vibes & Drinks:** Enjoy coffee, cocktails, bar snacks, and great music in a lively, no-pressure setting. **RSVP & Seating:** We request you to RSVP; an accurate headcount helps us coordinate. **How to find us at Berlin HBF (Shortcut Path):** When arriving at Berlin Central Station, skip the long detour along Lehrter Straße! You can take a much quicker walking shortcut: Head out of the station and cross over to Minna-Cauer-Straße. Cut straight through the open park area alongside the Geschichtspark Zellengefängnis Moabit. Follow the path directly to the entrance of the hostel on Lehrter Straße. It cuts the walk down significantly! 🎟️ Free entry – just bring your good mood. Let's make our HBF debut unforgettable! ☺️

Sunday Knitting Neukölln
Sun, Sep 27, 12:00 PMThis location is one of our favourite spots for knitting. The cake selection is great, the food is delicious & it is bright enough for our needs. The only downside is the sometimes limited numbers of seats. (So to give those on the waiting list a chance to participate, please decline again, if you can't make it, even when it's short-term)

Unfolding Year 3 ☕️🍁
Sun, Sep 13, 1:00 PMYear 3 begins where we have folded many times before -- **[Blumental](https://blumental-berlin.de/)**! Whether you have been in our paper community since Year 1 or are joining for the very first time, come along and start our third year together with some good old-fashioned paper fun! ☕️🍁 What you can expect at all our events: * **In-person folding practice for all levels** – beginners and experienced folders are equally welcome. * **Origami paper + model instructions will be provided** (from the host’s collection, for reference only). Feel free to bring your own favorite sheets or tools! * **Donation in any amount you choose** – this supports essential costs like the Meetup subscription and keeps our community thriving 🌱 You can either submit a **physical donation** to the event host in person or make a **digital donation** **[here](https://paypal.me/origamiberlin?locale.x=de_DE&country.x=DE)** (and inform the host afterwards). * Photos may be taken for memories & our archive (Meetup, [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/origamiandbeyond/) and [Telegram](https://t.me/+T4URs80l2ig3NWNi)) – let the host know if you prefer not to appear. * **We kindly encourage everyone to order at least one drink/snack to support** **[Blumental](https://blumental-berlin.de/)** **for hosting us!** ⚠️ **RSVP Policy – Please Read** ⚠️ Our community has grown a lot since its birth in August 2024, which is amazing — but it also means we need to handle RSVPs more carefully: * RSVP opens 7 days before each event (apart from short-notice events) and closes at noon on the event day. * Please cancel your spot or contact the host directly (via Meetup message function or our [Telegram](https://t.me/+T4URs80l2ig3NWNi) channel) by noon on the event day if you can't make it last minute. * Members with 2 no-shows (without notice) will be removed from the group unless a valid reason is provided. Thank you for helping us keep Origami Crafters Berlin respectful, reliable, and fun! 🙏 Get in touch if you have questions and see you all at the folding tables very soon! ☕️🍁

Women’s Book Club: Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
Sat, Oct 17, 12:30 PMThis week we are discussing **Min Jin Lee:** Pachinko. If you have book suggestions, would like to vote on our next reads, or join us for additional activities, please ask someone at the meeting to add you to our WhatsApp group. Just a heads up: **The cafe only accepts card payments for amounts over €10**, so you may want to bring some cash for smaller orders. **Also, if you're unable to attend, please update your RSVP so that someone from the waiting list can take your spot.**

Reading in Companionable SILENCE - Botanical Garden Series
Sun, Sep 13, 9:00 AMSusana is taking you to paradise in this (and another) edition of Reading in Companionable Silence - please see her lovely invitation. Let's read at a paradise for all garden lovers: the Royal Garden Academy, the former “Royal Gardening School,” directly across from the Botanical Garden! We'll order upon arrival, chat and eat for half an hour. Then we read for an hour in silence and talk about our reading impressions! The idea is to then enjoy a walk around Berlin's charming botanical gardens and maybe even find more reading spots inside. That part is optional, of course 🤗. Admission costs EUR 10, or EUR 5 reduced. Annual tickets costs EUR 30. Susana Only RSVP if you really intend to come and are sure that you can make it. Please don’t waste our hosts‘s time and energy by reserving a spot and then dropping out at short notice.
