GUARDIANS Masks Workshop

Fri, May 29, 4:00 PM
From Creative Art Workshops Berlin

📍 Berlin (Kreuzberg) 🗓 2 sessions (3.5h each with a pause for snacks) This is **a two-day event**. By booking this session, you are automatically reserving your spot for both days of the workshop! *It will be a small group: limited spots available!* **See a video of previous sessions [here](https://www.instagram.com/p/DXrmpYbjBvc/)!** 🗓 Dates> **May 29 & June 5** (Fridays) 6:00–9:30 PM (*Only few spots available)* Or join next group: **July 3 & 10** (Fridays) 6:00–9:30 PM €115 (all materials included) đŸ‘« *Bring your friend, and both receive 10€ off.* ***Small Group only!*** *After reserve, I will send you an email to confirm your place,* **A two-session sustainable experience inspired by folk characters and traditional mask-making. You will design and create your own character mask in a hands-on and creative way.** **Guardians are masks with presence—imagined characters that accompany and bring personality to a space**. You can create a small or large mask, designed either to wear or to hang. **Day 1:** Inspiration & Mask Building *"In Japan, masks often embody transformation, character, and symbolic presence.* *In the Andes, masks connect animals, imagination, and collective storytelling (...)"* We begin with a visual introduction to mask-making across cultures, exploring how artists draw inspiration from celebrations, nature, animals, and imaginary characters to create expressive forms. You’ll bring your own idea (or choose from a selection of references) to design your Guardian character. You can choose between different formats — wearable masks or small sculptural faces for the wall — working with accessible materials such as recycled cardboard, papier-mĂąchĂ©, fabric, and mixed textures. **Day 2:** Painting & Finishing In the second session, we bring the characters to life through colour, texture, materials and detail. You will choose a colour palette and combine acrylic paints with acrylic markers to create different finishing effects. The workshop closes with a relaxed sharing moment, where participants can present their character and creative process. **All basic materials are included:** *cardboard, paper, paste, papier-mĂąchĂ©, acrylic paints, fabrics, threads, and decorative textures.* You are welcome to bring \*personal materials \* if you wish — colours, fabrics, small objects, or symbolic elements you would like to incorporate into your piece. * Where: At my studio in **10963 Kreuzberg, Berlin**. It’s a bright, sunny space ☀ I’ll send you the exact address by email after you fill out the form. It will be fun! **A bit about me** Hi! I’m Rosi Diaz Roigt a Berlin-based mask artist and graphic designer for films. My work explores nature, imagination, and sustainable materials through illustration, sculpture, and mixed media. đŸ‘Ÿ Level Up Your Folds Vol.2 (presentations and collective folding alert!) 🍊

Mon, May 25, 1:00 PM
From Origami Crafters in Berlin
4.9

After hopping across various Berlin venues, we’re thrilled to return to Saftladen for the second edition of *Level Up Your Folds*! Big shoutout to this non-profit (and a very *professional* one, mind you 🍊) indie game developer collective for hosting us again – couldn’t ask for a better creative playground! đŸ‘Ÿ Food or snacks for sharing during the origami session are very welcome, so bring them on! Here's an overview of what you could expect: * **Special format of 2x presentation** by our beloved origami masters, followed by **guided collective folding of a model** of their choice! * **Mandatory donation** (amount of your choice) – this supports essential costs like the Meetup subscription and keeps our community thriving đŸŒ± You can either submit a **physical donation** to the event host in person or make a **digital donation** **[here](https://paypal.me/origamiberlin?locale.x=de_DE&country.x=DE)** (and inform the host afterwards). * In-person folding practice for all levels – beginners and experienced folders are equally welcome. * Origami paper + model instructions will be provided (from the host’s collection, for reference only). Feel free to bring your own favorite sheets or tools! * Photos may be taken for memories & our archive (Meetup, Instagram, Telegram) – let the host know if you prefer not to appear. * **We kindly encourage everyone to buy at least one drink (€2 each) to support [Saftladen](https://saftladen.berlin/) for hosting us!** ⚠ **RSVP Policy – Please Read** ⚠ Our community has grown a lot since its birth in August 2024, which is amazing — but it also means we need to handle RSVPs more carefully: * RSVP opens **7 days before** each event (apart from short-notice events) and closes at **noon on the event day**. * Please cancel your spot or contact the host directly (via Meetup message function or our [Telegram channel](https://t.me/+T4URs80l2ig3NWNi)) by **noon on the event day** if you can't make it last minute. * Members with **2 no-shows** (without notice) will be removed from the group unless a valid reason is provided. Thank you for helping us keep our community respectful, reliable, and fun! 🙏 Get in touch if you have questions anytime and see you all at the folding tables very soon! đŸ‘ŸđŸŠ
