Join us as we get together to see the live-action animated legal comedy, COYOTE VS ACME! The film follows Wile E. Coyote as he enlists a billboard attorney to sue the Acme Corporation for repeatedly selling him faulty products. Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event: DESCRIPTION: After every product made by the Acme Corporation has backfired on Wile E. Coyote in his pursuit of the Road Runner, down-and-out human billboard attorney represents Wile E. in a lawsuit against Acme. The film is directed by Dave Green and stars Will Forte, Lana Condor, Luis Guzmán, P.J. Byrne, Kenneth Choi and John Cena. TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iu-4SgTw73M COYOTE VS ACME’S LONG WAY TO THE THEATER: The film is based on the 1990 The New Yorker magazine article "Coyote v. Acme" by Ian Frazier. Development for the film began in 2018, it was filmed in 2022 and scheduled for a 2023 release! But, after completion, Warner Brothers decided to shelve it for a tax write-off! Yikes! But, public backlash and demand caused a change of heart. It was made available for other distributors and a smaller company (Ketchup Entertainment) acquired the film and is releasing it to theaters! It screened it to positive reviews at this year’s Comic-Con and on September 3rd it makes its way to the CMG Calendar! PLAN: We’ll plan for a 7pm-ish showing and will meet in the lobby area about 30 minutes before showtime. Once showtime is confirmed, advance ticket purchase is advised. CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!

Join us at this CMG Gives Back volunteer event as we get together to help those in need by serving brunch at Fath Mission Grant Kitchen! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20pm and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking are available in the surrounding area. Please see links / attachments for additional info / details. IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. Join us as we get together for the fun summertime tradition of live outdoor theater! For this event, we’ll be closing out Summer Movie Season by seeing The Actors’ Theatre of Columbus and their take on the Agatha Christie classic mystery, AND THEN THERE WERE NONE! Here are details and our plan for this event: DESCRIPTION: The Actors’ Theatre of Columbus will close the summer and mark the 50th anniversary of Agatha Christie’s death with this haunting mystery! Under the evening sky, ten strangers in a mansion start dying one by one. Will there be any survivors? One of the late author’s most foreboding tales and a masterpiece of dramatic construction, the growing sense of dread and unfaltering tension will keep you guessing to the very end. PARKING: Schiller Park is a beautiful little park located in the heart of historic German Village. Parking is available in the paved lot at the Schiller Recreation Center or on city streets surrounding the park. WHAT TO BRING: Definitely bring a lawn chair. Food and drinks are allowed (and encouraged). If you’re feeling festive, bring snacks and/or drinks to share and I’ll do the same! Atheists-Skeptics-Humanists (ASH) Monthly Meeting will feature Laura Savage, Executive Director of the Ohio Art League, the nation's oldest member-run art organization (founded in 1909 by 40 students of the Columbus Art School - now CCAD). Laura will talk about the League's ongoing mission, its importance to the Columbus art scene, some of the current exhibitions, future plans, and how we can all become patrons of the arts. ASH UU meets at 7:00 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of most months, in Rm. 301 at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, 93 W. Weisheimer Rd., unless that month's meeting has been canceled.

The Completely Series - (P.M.) Gallery Hop/Short North - Field Shoot

Gallery Hop / Short North Photo walk and street shooting. OSU is playing Ball State at home at 12:30 pm so many fans may come to the Short North to celebrate. We typically walk North on one side of the street under we reach Standard Hall where we stop for a break...can you say food and drink?....and then make our way back south on the other side of the street. These events on the schedule are to serve three purposes: 1. These will serve as field shoots targeted at The Completely 2. Series homework. Generally, each of these shoots will focus on the homework assigned in the two prior weeks. So locations and topics will be picked to match those expectations. 3. Additionally, these events are to serve as placeholders for TIME OF DAY. They are intended to be modified as needed to capture SUNSET and/or EVENING light. They will likely be modified to time out for the IDEAL light on that day, at that location. EXPECT THEM TO BE MODIFIED as the time of year changes and/or schedule conflicts occur. But THERE WILL BE at least one evening shoot per month. 4. Lastly, they are also to serve as semi-monthly evening shoots for the group as a whole. YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE IN THE COMPLETELY SERIES to attend any of these morning field shoots. Locations and specifics will be updated as the event date approaches.

In September we will hear from Fish Stark the American Humanist Association’s Executive Director. The location for this meeting is Graystone Wine Cellar (544 South Front Street Columbus OH 43215). This meeting will be hybrid. You can meet us in-person or attend online. The formal presentation will start at noon. Soft drinks and coffee will be provided by the venue. Additionally, we will be providing catered appetizers from Blue Bow Tie Catering and so we would like an accurate count for that. We appreciate your response.
