[Follow this link for more info, no tickets needed](https://wellcomecollection.org/exhibitions/the-coming-of-age) ‘The Coming of Age’ explores experiences and perceptions of ageing, from adolescence to later life, and asks how societies can adapt for us all to age better. Across the globe, people are living longer. One in ten children in the UK are expected to live beyond the age of 100. But who gets to live longer and ‘age well’? This exhibition explores how experiences of age are shaped by our environment, culture and society. ‘The Coming of Age’ features more than 120 artworks and objects, including historical artefacts and works by contemporary artists. We will join the free intro tour at 14:15 if it's running, then visit by ourselves and you can also check the 'Being Human' permanent exhibition afterwards. When you finish, meet us at the cafe to socialise, if full we will go to a venue nearby. _See comments below for updates_

Screening of MISS MARY + Intro

Screening of MISS MARY + Intro

Tue, May 26, 5:00 PM
From Cinema Mentiré - Latin American film club

GET YOUR TICKETS HERE: https://www.thegardencinema.co.uk/film/miss-mary-intro/ In May 2025, Cinema Mentiré launched **[Daring to Dare](https://www.cinemamentire.co.uk/daring-to-dare-the-films-of-maria-luisa-bemberg)**, a retrospective of trailblazing Argentinian filmmaker **María Luisa Bemberg** (1922-1995) to celebrate her extraordinary legacy on the 30th anniversary of her passing. The programme opened at Ciné Lumière and then toured Bath, Belfast, Bristol, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London (again), and Oxford. After a year-long journey across the UK, we return to London for the final chapter with a very special wrap-up of the series at The Garden Cinema! **MISS MARY** (1986, 102min.) 📆 Tuesday, 26 May, at 6.00pm Julie Christie is Miss Mary, an English governess who travels to Argentina in the late 1930s to raise the children of an aristocratic and chaotic family. These screenings form part of a [wider season commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1976 Argentine coup](https://www.thegardencinema.co.uk/season/50-years-of-argentina-on-film/), running from 8 May to 19 June at The Garden Cinema. The programme brings together classic thrillers, offbeat comedies and documentaries, accompanied by Q&As and introductions that explore how Argentine society has grappled with the aftermath of the coup in the 5 decades that followed. Check it out also the screening of **[NOBODY'S WIFE](https://www.thegardencinema.co.uk/film/senora-de-nadie-nobodys-wife-intro/)** on 21 May, a revolutionary film following the journey of Leonor after an unpleasant discovery that puts her life upside down. Please update your RSVP if you can’t make it. [More info on the exhibit page here.](https://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/whats-on/skate-50/) The screening lasts 38 minutes and it plays on a loop. ☕️ After the screening we will go for coffee somewhere nearby.

Everyone welcome 😊

Important to note:

1. We typically socialise at cafés after the exhibit, nice, independent ones, not chains and not at pubs. If the event is late on a Saturday we go to a nice bar/pub for drinks after. This meetup is inclusive and everyone is welcome to join.
2. If you get there before everyone and you're not sure what to do or where we are, post a comment on here and I will let you know our whereabouts.
3. Once we go in we may separate, feel free to explore the exhibit by yourself, we don't have to be together. Some people like chatting to others while exploring and other people prefer to be with their own thoughts. You are welcome to express yourself and do whatever helps you feel free. The coffee part afterwards is all about socialising so don’t miss it!

4. If you are late or if you’ve booked for an earlier or later time don’t worry just go in and you’ll find us inside. Keep an eye on the event comments as I’ll be posting updates.

Sapphic screening and social – BULLETPROOF - Lez Meet & Arcana collab

Sapphic screening and social – BULLETPROOF - Lez Meet & Arcana collab

Sun, May 31, 2:00 PM
From Lez Meet ! Lesbian & Queer Socials.
4.8

Ticket link here: https://www.outsavvy.com/event/36369/sapphic-screening-and-social-bulletproof-for-all-queer-women Come join us at THE ARZNER Cinema for an afternoon dedicated to sapphic culture ! This time we are screening a brand new documentary by Regan Latimer, "Bulletproof : A Lesbian Guide to Surviving The Plot" We’ll gather from 3pm for drinks at The Arzner's bar before the screening starts (4.00pm), then stay on for some more fun time together, debating on what we have just watched 🍹🍻 Synopsis: In 'Bulletproof: A Lesbian's Guide to Surviving the Plot,' filmmaker Regan Latimer takes an insightful, immersive and personal look at queer representation on television and media's power to shape how we see ourselves. Witty, fast-paced and laced with pop culture references, Regan journeys across North America and beyond in her quest to understand the forces that influence the stories we see on our screens. Original animation and personal anecdotes are interwoven with wide ranging conversations with television insiders, LGBTQ+ community advocates and people who just love to watch TV. As Latimer navigates an ever-evolving media landscape, the filmmaker learns first hand that representation done well has the power to transform. About Arcana: Finding films that truly reflect lesbian and queer women’s lives remains a challenge. They are difficult to produce, to finance, to distribute, to promote, to find, to screen… one movie that comes to you has gone a very long way. Stories where we are not marginal, implied, tragic, or killed — but visible, complex, joyful, political, alive. Bringing those images and queer and lesbian representation to the big screen matters. **Arcana stands loud and strong with our trans brothers and sisters** Any form of hate, discrimination, or transphobia will not be tolerated at any of our events. If you have any concerns or questions about this requirement, please feel free to reach out, and we’ll do our best to address them. Important note: Photos and videos will be taken at our events. Our photographers will be capturing the vibe, and some of these will be posted on our social media. Please come and chat to a host if you would prefer not to appear online.
