Rather than a rigid step by step system only suitable for limited situations, Aaron teaches students how to analyse pose, lighting, and timing, and adapt their painting approach to suit. **One Day Portraits Summer School With Artist Kim Scouller** **Inject a fresh energy into your portrait!** Join London Drawing tutor Kim Scouller for a summer school focusing on the dynamism of quick painting, with expressive brushwork and in the moment focused decision making. Create a series of portraits working from a different model each day. This new summer school is all about making expressive alla prima (wet on wet) portraits in oils. Experiment and refine your approach to portrait painting in this exciting intensive portraiture course. The summer school aims to build your skills over the two days, with each day focusing on a different aspect of portraiture. Starting with working on a small scale, making quick intuitive gestural studies, which will then develop towards making more sustained portraits. Colour mixing including mixing skin tones, paint handling and how to keep the painting loose will all be covered. You will work on small boards as well as larger surfaces. We are delighted to be working with Artist Laura Smith for this life painting two day intensive of texture and colour- Laura will be leading us through gestural painting, using markmaking and layering of paint to create confident compositions. We will be using techniques to build your confidence in drawing with paint, working on the fleshy-ness of the model and how to handle pattern so that both complement each other We will be working from the model in a Matisse inspired set, with plenty of inspiration to help us channel the vibrancy and energy of Mattise. With plenty of demonstrations and lots of individual tuition – you can take this class to your own level and really improve your confidence in painting. A great day of creativity – perfect for beginners and ideal for those wanting to brush up on skills and learn more. This is a studio based long pose life drawing and painting session. We have a nude model for two hours in a single pose to give you time to complete a finished drawing or to paint the figure. You are welcome to draw or paint in oils or wet media. Our studio is purpose built and well equipped with easels, drawing boards, clips and so on.
