Design is changing, but it's definitely not dead

Design is changing, but it's definitely not dead

**UX Hub** is thrilled to welcome you to our next event, hosted at Preply's offices in Barcelona! **Design is changing, but it's definitely not dead** Every AI tool launches ships with a eulogy for design. This talk argues that the hot takes have it backwards: AI has transformed the cost of executing design work, gathering data, analysing it, ideating, prototyping, and even shipping code, but it hasn't touched the part that was always the point. The thinking. Drawing on how the design team at Preply works with AI day to day, Tim explores the traps waiting inside this new speed: mistaking fluency for intelligence, mistaking a fast answer for the right one, and the recursive slop loop where AI-generated work trains the next generation of AI, raising the floor while quietly lowering the ceiling. The conclusion is optimistic. Design isn't disappearing, its stages are being redistributed between human and machine. Thinking is the glue between those stages, and choosing what to hand over, and what to hold, is the new craft. **Speaker** [Tim Green](https://www.linkedin.com/in/destroywerk/) is a Principal Product Designer at Preply. Originally from Manchester, UK, he began his career in traditional graphic design before transitioning to product design. After living in Berlin and Buenos Aires, he settled in London, where he has been based for the past 15 years. Tim spent nearly a decade at Google helping to launch Android Enterprise, Pixel Watch, and Pixel Tablet. He then moved to the HR SaaS platform Personio to solve complex organizational structure challenges. He is currently the Area Lead for the Growth tribe at Preply, supporting seven teams in creating the best possible onboarding experience for new learners. **Hosts** This event is hosted by [Preply](https://preply.com/), one of the world's leading online language learning platforms, connecting learners with tutors for live, personalized lessons in over 50 languages. Its platform combines smart matching technology with a global community of tutors, helping millions of learners build real-world language skills through one-on-one, tailored instruction. **Location:** Preply\*\*,\*\* 97 Carrer de Badajoz, Sant Martí, 08018 Barcelona, Spain **To join us, just:** ✅ RSVP here on Meetup ✅ Answer [this form](https://48db4b2d.sibforms.com/serve/MUIFALfB0bn_p1G9zS7yYICl8fr4aT-cjBYl7Ow1DKvi6gv1FzDSE3Dt9fmIH5k78PONlJNEn2S6UnpOuo_VNIeUd69dkI5RJ0kaw7TjtxPjtwYy8KKc80BkMTozTqyRXiKCcXK9G8y-NccOB4S1Ci0SPkuWLJ5BCVWC80yGZ9bhinpCpoBKNV5cyovr3wH4BWM1_lNTf8IsVTvO) **What’s Happening?** * Keynote Talk: Tim Green * Hope in the Age of AI: Design is changing, but it's definitely not dead * Hosts: Preply * Interactive Q&A: Get your questions answered * Community Networking: Connect with fellow designers, AI specialists, and UX thinkers **Details:** **🗓️ Date**: Wednesday, July 15, 2026 **⏰ Time:** 18:30–21:00 📍 **Location:** Preply, 97 Carrer de Badajoz, Sant Martí, 08018 Barcelona, Spain **Why You’ll Love It:** A sharp take on why thinking, not execution, was always the real craft. **Agenda:** **18:30 – Doors Open** **18:45 – Introduction** **19:00–20:15 – Talk & Q&A** **20:15–21:00 – Socialization & Fun!** **Educational partners:** [Interaction Design Foundation](https://ixdf.org/) [Uxcel](https://uxcel.com/?utm_medium=paid%20search&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=brand&utm_term=uxcel&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=23478421564&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=23478421564&gbraid=0AAAAAoYVYnfrZ5Yt8YP5nzmg5PiQ4LvIK&gclid=CjwKCAjw6rfSBhAqEiwA_yocppX7EENM8-y2gWRMnWIprvZnHOrWMLhhAxQKPof1jyFAryWd1HY_ERoCJIQQAvD_BwE) [Uxia](https://www.uxia.app/) **P.S.** Please make sure to show up on time. **If we reach full capacity, we'll not be able to let you in**, even if you have a ticket!

Branding in UX/UI. Designing digital experiences from brand to behavior.

Branding in UX/UI. Designing digital experiences from brand to behavior.

Thu, Jul 16, 12:00 PM
From Barcelona Code School - Coding & UX/UI Bootcamps
4.6

A hands-on workshop on how to translate brand strategy and identity into coherent, meaningful UX/UI design decisions. This workshop explores how branding and UX/UI intersect, and how designers can move beyond aesthetics to create digital experiences that feel coherent, intentional, and emotionally aligned with a brand. Rather than treating branding as a visual layer added at the end, the session reframes it as a decision-making system that shapes how interfaces look, behave, and communicate. Students will learn how brand values, personality, and tone influence visual choices, interaction patterns, and microcopy, and how to apply this thinking in real UX/UI projects. The workshop combines a concise theoretical foundation with practical exercises, helping students develop a clear mental model they can reuse in future projects. **Who will benefit from this masterclass:** * UX/UI students * Designers who struggle to connect branding with interface design * Anyone who wants their digital work to feel less generic and more intentional **Key topics:** * Why “good-looking” interfaces often feel generic * How branding actually works in digital products * The hidden role of emotion in UX/UI design * A practical framework to design consistent, on-brand interfaces * Turning abstract brand ideas into concrete UI decisions * Avoiding common UX mistakes caused by over-styling or under-branding * Designing digital products that feel intentional, not assembled By the end of the workshop, you will have a stronger foundation for designing digital products that are not only usable, but also expressive, consistent, and meaningful. **What to Prepare / Bring** * A laptop * Access to Figma (or similar design tool) * Basic UX/UI knowledge * No prior branding knowledge required. **Your instructor:** **Ivi Monteys** **Brand Strategist at PÁNICO ESTUDIO** I’m a branding and visual designer working at the intersection of strategy, identity, and digital design. My work focuses on helping brands translate their core values and personality into clear, coherent visual systems and digital experiences. I work with global projects, companies, and organizations on branding, web design, and digital identity, with a strong emphasis on clarity, consistency, and emotional coherence. My approach is pragmatic: reducing complexity, cutting noise, and turning abstract ideas into concrete design decisions. This workshop reflects how I approach real projects bridging branding and UX/UI through behavior, intention, and design logic rather than trends or decoration.
