First introduced to the West in 1967 by His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the San Francisco Ratha Yatra has become a beloved annual tradition of music, devotion, community, and celebration. At the heart of the festival is Lord Jagannātha, whose name means "Lord of the Universe." As the beautifully decorated chariots make their way through Golden Gate Park, thousands come together to sing kīrtan, dance, and experience the uplifting atmosphere of bhakti. The Vedic scriptures describe the special significance of this festival: "Simply by seeing the Lord on His chariot, one makes advancement on the path toward freedom from the cycle of birth and death." Excited to announce! Antoine Hunter's Urban Jazz Dance Company presents the 14th anniversary of the Bay Area International Deaf Dance Festival (BAIDDF) coming up this August 14 - 16, 2026!! Tickets are released! BAIDDF is an annual event produced by Urban Jazz Dance Company that consists of performances and workshops that highlight the important contributions that Deaf and Hard of Hearing (HOH) artists make to our community featuring amazing local Bay Area talent, as well as artists from Turkey, California, New York, Missouri, and more! This is the festival you do not want to miss and share with everyone.
