**The idea for this group is to build a community where men can gather together and build connections & learn and grow from each other.** How we start each meeting is by each of us checking in with our "roses and thorns" aka what are the good things and the bad things going on in your life recently? When we fail, we own it & clean it up. 4. Speak from the heart - this is NOT a space to “look good”, have the “right” answers, and have it all together. Relax and know you are not alone. Be exactly who you are within the safety of this space. 5. Be supportive - This means always willing to provide encouragement to your fellow men, encourage action and momentum in each other’s lives.. Be willing to challenge each other. Be willing to hold each other accountable. 6. Participation - what you receive from this community will be a reflection of what you put into it. Period. We ask that you share your perspectives, reflect on others, and give/receive support when and where it’s needed.

In this circle, we explore what it means to live with purpose, integrity, and spiritual awareness in today’s world. Through open dialogue, reflection, and mutual support, we learn to balance strength with compassion, confidence with humility, and action with mindfulness. Whether you’re seeking deeper spiritual connection, personal clarity, or simply a supportive brotherhood, this group invites you to bring your authentic self and grow in community. CMG Gives Back: Serve Brunch at FAITH MISSION GRANT KITCHEN!

Join us at this CMG Gives Back volunteer event as we get together to help those in need by serving brunch at Fath Mission Grant Kitchen! We have a great little community of Movie Group friends so rather than see a movie this time, we’ll help “create a better world” by helping serve those in need. Here are complete details and our plan for this event: FAITH MISSION – GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces. PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for BRUNCH from 10:30am to 12:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 10:20pm and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants. LOCATION: Faith Mission – Grant Kitchen is located at 245 N. Grant Ave. Enter the kitchen at Dock 1 (in the back of the building), indicated in the attached map. On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking are available in the surrounding area. Please see links / attachments for additional info / details. IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain you’ll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. COUNT RMH Housewarmer Volunteering (Ronald McDonald House)

Some trained COUNT volunteers work together once a month at RMH (http://www.rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer.php) as Housewarmers (usually on the 1st Sunday from 1 – 5 PM). Some schedule other shifts at their convenience. You may try this out with less fuss by following a "Fast track" or go through the normal process. Fast track • Arrange a time to shadow a COUNT volunteer. Call Dave Nohle at 614-268-9558 (cell). • Show up and try it out. • Complete application, etc. later. Normal process • Complete an online application (http://rmhc-centralohio.org/volunteer/). • Attend orientation in advance. • At orientation you will complete forms agreeing to keep family/patient info private and allowing a background check and tour the facility. • Complete one training shift. Daily shifts are: morning 9 AM - 1 PM, afternoon 1 - 5 PM and evening 5 - 9 PM. • Schedule shifts online using the on the RMH scheduling system (http://www.volgistics.com/ex/portal.dll/?FROM=32895). The Ronald McDonald House (RMH) provides housing and meals for families with sick children. The Columbus RMH is the largest in the world with 137 rooms. COUNT has been volunteering there since May 2014. Housewarmers work with RMH guests to provide a home-like environment - greet, assist with family needs, answer phones, give tours, assist with checkin/checkout, prepare guest rooms after checkout, clean facility, laundry, restock supplies and staff the front desk. RMH Housewarmers volunteer at least one four-hour shift a month. All Housewarmers must complete an application and agree to a background check before they can be full fledged volunteers.

Under-the-Radar Gem: TONY at the Drexel Theatre!

Join us as we get together to see the biographical-drama, TONY! The film follows a young Anthony Bourdain and his early years working in Provincetown, Massachusetts. Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event: DESCRIPTION: The film is set in 1976 where a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain wants to be a writer. But, when he takes a summer job working for a Brazilian-born restaurateur, it sets a course that will shape the rest of his life. TONY is co-written and directed by Matt Johnson and stars Dominic Sessa (who many of you will remember from 2023’s excellent film The Holdovers) along with Emilia Jones, Dagmara Domińczyk, Rich Sommer, Stavros Halkias, Leo Woodall and Antonio Banderas. Live Outdoor Theatre: AND THEN THERE WERE NONE at Schiller Park!

Join us as we get together for the fun summertime tradition of live outdoor theater! For this event, we’ll be closing out Summer Movie Season by seeing The Actors’ Theatre of Columbus and their take on the Agatha Christie classic mystery, AND THEN THERE WERE NONE! Here are details and our plan for this event: DESCRIPTION: The Actors’ Theatre of Columbus will close the summer and mark the 50th anniversary of Agatha Christie’s death with this haunting mystery! Under the evening sky, ten strangers in a mansion start dying one by one. Will there be any survivors? One of the late author’s most foreboding tales and a masterpiece of dramatic construction, the growing sense of dread and unfaltering tension will keep you guessing to the very end. PARKING: Schiller Park is a beautiful little park located in the heart of historic German Village. Parking is available in the paved lot at the Schiller Recreation Center or on city streets surrounding the park. WHAT TO BRING: Definitely bring a lawn chair. Father/Son Men's Group (Bi-weekly)

Join us every other Wednesday during the summer at 5:30pm at Blendon Woods Inclusive Playground. Starts Wednesday June 17th. **Agenda** 5:30-6:15 Kids Play & Dad's Meet 6:15-6:45 Snacks & Father/Son Men's Group Circle \- Simple intro Round \- What are Dad & Son working on? \- Various Topics for Fathers and Sons\(What does it mean to be a man? Etc\.\) 6:45-7 Close. Go get food or keep playing. Mario will lead this group and hold the space. Generally, it is a laid-back, open group that can be modified to accommodate those who show up. Unity of Columbus Resource Group for the Homeless – Volunteers Needed

The Unity of Columbus Resource Group for the Homeless is seeking compassionate volunteers who would like to help serve and uplift members of our homeless community. This group is dedicated to sharing kindness, resources, and support with individuals who may be experiencing difficult circumstances. Anyone with a heart for service is welcome to join us as we work together to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Community members are also invited to contribute by bringing helpful items for those in need. Donations of items can be contributed at the meeting and will be distributed to assist members of the homeless community. Loony Thursday: COYOTE VS ACME at Lennox Phoenix Theater!

Join us as we get together to see the live-action animated legal comedy, COYOTE VS ACME! The film follows Wile E. Coyote as he enlists a billboard attorney to sue the Acme Corporation for repeatedly selling him faulty products. Here’s a description, trailer and plan for this event: DESCRIPTION: After every product made by the Acme Corporation has backfired on Wile E. Coyote in his pursuit of the Road Runner, down-and-out human billboard attorney represents Wile E. in a lawsuit against Acme. The film is directed by Dave Green and stars Will Forte, Lana Condor, Luis Guzmán, P.J. Byrne, Kenneth Choi and John Cena. TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iu-4SgTw73M COYOTE VS ACME’S LONG WAY TO THE THEATER: The film is based on the 1990 The New Yorker magazine article "Coyote v. Acme" by Ian Frazier. Development for the film began in 2018, it was filmed in 2022 and scheduled for a 2023 release! But, after completion, Warner Brothers decided to shelve it for a tax write-off! Yikes! But, public backlash and demand caused a change of heart. It was made available for other distributors and a smaller company (Ketchup Entertainment) acquired the film and is releasing it to theaters! It screened it to positive reviews at this year’s Comic-Con and on September 3rd it makes its way to the CMG Calendar! PLAN: We’ll plan for a 7pm-ish showing and will meet in the lobby area about 30 minutes before showtime. Once showtime is confirmed, advance ticket purchase is advised. COUNT monthly event: Kitchen service at Van Buren Center's shelter

Come assist Van Buren Shelter (https://ymcacolumbus.org/locations/vanburen) staff in serving dinners and cleaning up on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Dinner for the women is 5-6 pm and for the families is 6:15-7:15 pm. There is ample free parking available in the shelter's lot. The recommended area to park is in green in the image above. There will be a new entrance for the time being. We are asking all volunteers to enter through the Donation Dock door, the orange mark on the image above. This door is located between the Single Adults and Family Shelter. You will see 2 large garage doors with a large green trash compactor in the center. Please head to the closest garage door to the building wall, with a ramp leading up. There, you will see a door with a sign stating instructions on how to enter the building. Please ring the doorbell, and a staff member will come and escort you into the building. If a staff member takes longer than 5 minutes, please call the front desk at 614-689-2020. This is a new process for us, and we do not want to keep you waiting! We appreciate your patience as we navigate this temporary change. The shelter needs a volunteer count the day before the event so sign-up ends Monday at 4:50 PM. Afterwards some of us go to the Omnipresent Atheists Weekly Meetup in progress to have a bit to eat or drink (http://www.meetup.com/omnipresentatheists/). Volunteers must be 14 or older. Since we will be working around families, the YMCA does not permit volunteering by individuals with convictions for violent or sexual crimes.
