Imagine a future intentionally shaped by kindness: let's build it together with on **Saturday, July 18th at the Junto Hotel in downtown Columbus!** The function of our conference is to help people develop the skills to build kind community and provide opportunities to increase in-person connection and support in each other’s lives. **This conference is for any of us who are:** · Feeling isolated and lacking community in our current society · Wanting to make a difference in our own lives and the lives of each other · Anyone who is just wishing to create something better! **We will build more kind community by:** · Developing formats for building community-based infrastructure where existing systems are failing that anybody can use · Providing the tools that help people connect in-person and practicing using those tools together · Implementing Universal Design so that no one gets left behind **Opportunities and practical tools we are offering:** · Lunch! · Community-Building Toolkits for people to take home · A chance to build lasting friendships and supportive connections · Opportunities to share referrals, strategies, resources, and the kind of connected support networks many people receive through family, but that those without community and family are often lacking · Ongoing community dinners, free workshops, and other events where people can connect **Participants also have the opportunity to receive CE credits from the Ohio CSWMFT Board.** We are just getting started! Drunken Philosophy: Antinatalism: Is it better never to have been born?

Welcome to Drunken Philosophy, a casual, curious, social discussion club. Come grab a drink and a seat at The Oracle. **Antinatalism: Is it better to have never been born and should we be procreating?** I did not use AI to write this. I actually just learned about this topic after reading a short article in Philosophy Now Magazine which rejected the claims of the well-known proponents of antinatalism: Gary Benatar, Emil Cioran and Peter Zapffe that simply existing is too painful to be worth living, that no one should be having children and even hypothetical utopias do not justify living. Generally, according to the article, these thinkers argue that pleasure and happiness are simply and exclusively a result of an absence of suffering and pain. Cioran wrote that "Not to be born is undoubtedly the best plan of all." The author of the article says that absolutist believers in antinatalism believe that a state of zero suffering can only be reached when humanity goes extinct. Wow, this is pessimism taken to the extreme. So what do you think? Do these thinkers present any views you agree with? See you at the Oracle at 7pm on July 11. As always the prompt is optional. The Unity of Columbus Resource Group for the Homeless is seeking compassionate volunteers who would like to help serve and uplift members of our homeless community. This group is dedicated to sharing kindness, resources, and support with individuals who may be experiencing difficult circumstances. Anyone with a heart for service is welcome to join us as we work together to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Community members are also invited to contribute by bringing helpful items for those in need. Donations of items can be contributed at the meeting and will be distributed to assist members of the homeless community. We are recruiting new group leaders for virtual men's groups! Our primary groups are outdoor movement groups, but we are launching virtual groups for the state of Ohio and beyond and the groups will move outside in the spring, creating room for men's groups, women's groups and coed groups all over the country.
