Tuesday Social Walk Around Silver Lake

There are plenty of amazing views in Silver Lake at night, including the Silver Lake reservoir. Let's get some steps in while socializing and making new connections. Strong winds/rain will cancel the event. We'll start walking **no later than 10 minutes** after the event start time. **TOTAL DISTANCE:** Approximately 2.3 miles round trip (1 loop) - this walk is mostly flat with a small portion of incline/decline I recommend bringing the following: * First aid kit (for accidental trips, falls, scrapes, etc.) * Water * Flashlight * Comfortable walking shoes * Jacket (in case it gets chilly) * Friendly attitude **MEETING LOCATION:** We'll be meeting in front of the Silver Lake Recreation Center sign located at 1850 West Silver Lake Drive (on the south east corner of West Silver Lake Dr. and Van Pelt Pl.) - we'll start walking **no later than 10 minutes** after the event start time **PARKING**: Street parking (be sure to read the signs) **GUESTS**: Attendees are welcome to bring a guest **Release of Liability:** The organizer of this trip/event is a volunteer and is not a professional guide. This event will be a monthly event and will happen the 3rd Sat. of every month. We will meet at Eagle Rock Rec. Cuddle Party® is led by trained and certified Cuddle Party® Facilitators. That’s me, Amanda. This workshop is to guide you into those skills gently and easily, in a fun, safe and light hearted, nurturing way. Tue, Jul 14, 2:00 AM**🏛️ WHAT'S PRACTICAL PHILOSOPHY ABOUT?** Practical Philosophy is a weekly meet-up that brings critical thinkers together for an opportunity to dive deep on a topic, practice communicating, and building a community. All with no ‘official’ philosophy knowledge required! 😎 Practical Philosophy is based on the idea that philosophy should be accessible to all, and not something reserved only for academics. Each week we choose a topic, and the goal is to use the conversation to develop our critical thinking and communication as we explore that topic. The goal is to help develop our Critical Thinking, Communication, and Community 🙌 📓 **HOW DOES IT WORK?** Each week, we pick one topic and discuss it. The topic for the week is shared, generally in the [Whatsapp group](https://tally.so/r/EkNAll), along with jump-off points to get the conversation going. If the group gets bigger than 10-15 people, we will consider breaking into smaller groups. This way we are able to maintain a conversational flow and ensure everyone has a chance to participate. **General Meeting Agenda** Each Practical Philosophy begins at 7:00p and follows this general timeline: * 7:00-7:15 - People arrive and chat, get to know each other before the ‘official' start. * 7:15-7:25 - Explanation of Practical Philosophy and the topic for the week, review the discussion guidelines so attendees know what to expect. * 7:25-8:45 - Main discussion on the selected topic - allow the conversation to evolve organically and/or use the ‘jump-off’ questions as prompts to guide the conversation. It’s not obligatory to answer them. * 8:45-9:00 - Wrap up and closing thoughts.
