A few months back we hiked Coogee to Bondi at nite, then this hike - it was really, really cool. Beer before... and (meal) after. Love it - it's a different kind of energy when you hike in the evening. Just posting this on Wednesday - let's see if we can get 8-10 hikers for Friday :) High of 21 degrees too - perfect! Let's hike post-sunset Taronga Zoo towards Balmoral Beach while talking shit and licking our beautiful city then head up to the lovely Buena Hotel in Mosman (one of my favourite Lower North Shore pubs) for a great pub meal. ***Taronga to Balmoral***. It’s an Aussie fahkin' beauty of a due to its diversity… Of course the ***ferry ride from CQuay to Taronga (ferry leaves at 545pm - be early*** is amazing, and the first stint of the walk transports you to another part of Australia – it’s a rainforest start to ***Bradley’s Head*** with perfect views of ***Sydney Opera House / Harbour Bridge***. Turning the corner we’ll stop at a secluded beach then carry on to ***Taylor’s Bay*** – the greenery / plant life there will amaze all. [NOTE: YOU MUST JOIN OUR WHATSAPP GROUP FOR THIS EVENT HERE.](https://chat.whatsapp.com/DFaK1MR9dKB8F3bqWCoint) From there the walk heads to ***Chowder Bay***, one of the coolest little beaches that not many Sydneysiders know of. There’s a café / bathroom stop there, then up the only real incline to ***George’s Head***: a historic military spot with the most picture perfect view from Manly to the CBD. We head back into the bush for a 15min walk to the ***Balmoral Stairs*** that will guide us down to Balmoral Beach. ***(SAFETY NOTE: I'm recommending a head lamp if you don't have one, as "I'll just use my mobile phone's light" may not be sufficient. Get to KMart... they are $10)*** Post-food / drinks you have many transport options from Balmoral Beach / The Buena to get back home or to Wynyard. I'll guide you. Oh, stay tuned for location to meet at 430pm. I'll be at a pub from 5pm around Circular Quay warming up... join from 5pm-530pm then we'll walk to the ferry wharf as a team. See you for a fun Friday session! MJ **_____________________________________________________** **THE DETAILS.** **WHATSAPP.** You’re not 100% confirmed until you’re in the whatsapp group. Join it 'cause we love it, and we use it! Click on the link (above) – if not, sadly you’ll be removed from the event on MeetUP. **Cancels / No shows.** Treat your RSVP like a restaurant reservation. *No show / cancel on the day?* That restaurant is my hiking group – you won’t be welcomed in the future. Respect and manners matter as I put my credit card down for your reservation. Double booked with another group? Come on… be kind. **Gratuity.** $10 PayID or Cash. **Safety.** Let’s chat, let’s have some laughs… but let’s be safe. **Fitness.** Yup. The “**Manly Beach to Spit Bridge Hike**” is… ***So. Damn. Beautiful.*** It's widely considered the prettiest of the Sydney Harbour hikes. And? We’re adding **Chinaman’s Beach** \- one of the sleeper Sydney beaches\, and perhaps it’s the best\. Let’s do it all\, and finish at stunning **Balmoral Beach**. And guess what's on just next to the beautiful beach? **[The Mudgee Wine & Food Festival!!](https://mudgeewine.com.au/mudgee-wine-food-festival-balmoral/) 12kms total hiking!** **THE HIKE.** There's so much to write - but I won't. You have to see it with your own eyes. **Manly Wharf to Spit Bridge.** **East Manly Cove Beach.** **West Manly Cove Beach, Manly Pavilion, Forty Baskets Beach, Reef Beach** which spills into a diverse bush walk in **Sydney Harbour** **National Park**. Harbour views. Secluded Beaches. Wildlife. Mansions on the water to **Clontarf and Spit Bridge**. Crossing Spit Bridge we’ll enjoy a solid rest at **Chinaman’s Beach** – you’re in for a real treat. I'll also say this - it's not on any 'Best Sunday Roasts" list, but it's absolutely delicious and it should be. **THE TRANSPORT.** a) **Manly ferries leave Circular Quay to Manly every 10-15minutes.** Please check your tavel apps - we’ll head off from **Felon's Seafood (not Felon's the bar) at 930am**. It's just next to Hugo's Manly. Arrive early! **Manly Corso is** lovely to check out early. b) From **Balmoral Beach** there are buses o'plenty up to The Buena on Military Road then into the city. See you for a beautiful hike, beers, and laughs. MJ **THE OTHER STUFF** a) **Be on time.** If you’re late? Catch up. Please don't call, message. Just catch up. b) Gratuity for this hike is **$10** Cash or PayID. c) **Fitness matters here.** Sure, the pubs sound great, but we are hiking in National Park. 15.6kms Incredible Coastal Hike & Secret "Sunday Sippers" Beach Bar!

15.6kms Incredible Coastal Hike & Secret "Sunday Sippers" Beach Bar!

Sun, Aug 30, 1:00 AM
From WE HIKE. WE WALK... to the BAR. Social Sessions in Sydney
4.9

Team. Don't miss this event. What a hike... and what a bar. We've found another **"How in the world did you find this bar MJ?"** type joints to *wet our whistles* together! It's directly on the beach. And it's only open one day per month for "SUNDAY SIPPERS" with live music. **Palm Beach Lighthouse** to **Newport Beach with Bilgola Beach and Sunday Sippers!** It's 15kms of coastal excellence and elegance. Let's goooooooooooooooo! We hiked this hike on the weekend (my first time). It's 10/10. ***The lighthouse view. The beaches. The lookouts. The rockpools. The whales (and seals we saw). The home architecture. All incredible...*** Now it's time to add an unforgettable beach bar. **SUNDAY SIPPERS.** Prior to hiking the full hike I did a little test run of the finale of this event to be sure the hiking path is open (it is) as council constructs a new sidewalk. While down on Bilgola Beach, I noticed their Surf Life Saving Club... totally empty but with this cool back garden, BBQ, and a set-up that would be fahkin' perfect for an afternoon beer. I walk around the corner and find their "Sunday Sippers" sign, and they open at 330pm on the last Sunday of the month. This is our spot for a drink, and it will be a great place to "Cheers" a memorable hike. When we finish, there's a bus stop at Bilgola Beach or we can finish the hike and jump on the bus at Newport Beach. **THE DAY.** A few things... a) First... if you join this event, **you must have a face pic on your MeetUp profile**, and you must come back here and **[click on this WHATSAP LINK](https://chat.whatsapp.com/DZpwgwsBSso2nXz9ap1yug)**. This is non-negotiable. b) Gratuity $20 Cash or PayID on the day. Team, I hope you appreciate the effort I put into our events - and $20 for a full day out in Sydney is quite a bargain. A quick search, and ["Cool Girls Club"](https://www.coolgirlsclub.com.au/event-details/cgc-grown-x-spit-to-manly) charges $35 for Spit to Manly Hike. Another group $35 for Figure 8 Hike and $30 for North Head Manly (neither group does the food / drink "Cheers" at the end which makes our group pretty special). c) Big day, long day. If you don't fancy stopping at the bar, that's cool... the 199 bus stop is super close to the pub (or finish the hike - Newport is the next beach), and it runs every 10minutes. **THE TRANSPORT.** Some moving parts, but here we go: a) **BUS FOLKS.** Take **B1 Bus to Mona Vale**. This is where we meet. Transfer at this stop to transfer to **199 Bus**. Be early. There’s a Coles, bathroom, bakery, coffee shop, etc... there. b) **DRIVERS**. Park by 11am at the latest. Please DIY research for parking at Mona Vale... side streets, or there's a free "Park & Ride" when using your Opal Card which you will. d) We all meet, and jump on the **199 Bus at 11:14am which drops at Palm Beach Golf Club. We start hiking there…** e) We finish at Newport Beach. The 199 Bus drops at Mona Vale where your cars (and B1 bus begins for us bus folks) are parked. *Bus up. Hike down. Then bus 10minutes to your car / bus. Easy!* See you soon for a great, great day! MJ **THE FINER PRINT.** **Cancels / No shows.** Treat your RSVP like a restaurant reservation. No show / cancel on the day? That restaurant is my hiking group – you won’t be welcomed in the future. Respect and manners matter. **Safety.** Let’s chat, let’s have some laughs… but let’s be safe. **Fitness.** Yup. Fitness matters for this one. Guests. Bring mates, dates, co-workers. ***In pressing the “Attend” button for this hike, you acknowledge that:*** a) You are healthy and fit to complete the hike describe; b) You have read and will follow [NSW National Parks Bushwalking Safety Guidelines](https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/safety/bushwalking-safety) for this hike; c) You have no chronic / underlying health issues that deter you from completing this hike; d) You understand your host is just that – your host, not a professional hiker – and that you and you alone are responsible for your hiking health, safety, and wellness; e) You’ve been advised to download the “Emergency Plus App” and f) You’ve been advised to obtain individual [hiking insurance from 1Cover](https://www.1cover.com.au/adventure-travel-insurance/hiking-trekking/?utm_source=google&utm_source_platform=gads&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=13564994076&utm_term=adventure%20travel%20insurance&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=13564994076&gbraid=0AAAAAD_bfRAu6Io5ZkHeiIYCP_evtsQ_z&gclid=CjwKCAjwz5nGBhBBEiwA-W6XRLm8Itjn1am8sdPMxVhBtRmsDOWkolLlVATJcXW5jW-9JgB7hb9kMhoC7M0QAvD_BwE). g) Over 60yrs old, and new to the group?
