Columbus Rooted Wisdom: Beginner Herbalism Social

We are hosting our next Rooted Wisdom gathering here in Columbus for anyone curious about beginning their herbalism journey. This is a low-pressure space designed for people who want to learn more about local plants, traditional remedies, and natural wellness, but are not sure where to start. Whether you have been reading up on herbs at home or are just feeling a pull toward nature and want to meet like-minded people, you will find a warm welcome here. The session is informal and focused on connection rather than heavy lecturing. We will spend some time sharing what we are currently learning and discussing how to safely incorporate simple herbs into our daily lives. It is a great opportunity to ask questions, swap stories, and find a community of others who are also just starting to explore these roots. We hope you can join us for an afternoon of good conversation and shared knowledge. Dog Walk at Franklin Park Conservatory

Dog Walk - come enjoy the beautiful grounds at Franklin Park Conservatory with or without your dog! We’ll meet on the path near the entrance. Paths are paved and nicely maintained but sunny! The loop I take is approx. 2mi around. There are plenty of shortcuts back if that’s too far or we can take it twice if the dogs are up to it. Please keep all dogs leashed as per park rules, thanks!

Hike Sharon Woods, 17-20ish pace

Hike Sharon Woods, we can meet at the Maple Grove Picnic Shelter. We can see how the group is feeling and go up to 4 miles. We can lunch at Northstar Cafe afterwards if there is enough interest.

Hike Blendon Woods

Let's meet at the Nature Center parking lot to hike some miles. We'll string together trails to try to get to 4 miles and can always walk the road if anyone is interested in additional miles. I usually walk a 19-20ish minute mile; faster paces are always welcome. Optional lunch following at Harry Buffalo in Westerville at 6150 Souith Sunbury Rd, Westerville.

**Let’s meet at the Nature Center and do approximately 4 miles at a 17-18 min/mile pace. There are hills.**

NOTE NEW DATE!!! Old Beechwold; What You Don't Know May Surprise You

On this tour we'll enjoy a 2.5 miles stroll through beautiful Old Beechwold. We'll learn about its unique origin, discuss its transformations through time, and witness its hidden gems. Due to the lack of any sidewalks and the narrow, winding roads here the tour size is limited. If you have weak knees or balance issues please bring a hiking pole or two as we may go "off trail" for a bit of our tour, depending on interest. We can discuss lunch options afterward for those folks who would like to go to lunch nearby. I will cancel this tour in the event of likely rain.

Olentangy Trail Walk in Worthington

Walk along the Olentangy Trail starting at Olentangy Parklands tennis and pickleball courts. 3.6 or 6 flat mile options. We’ll walk south until the trail intersects with Rt 161, then return and continue north to Hills Market for a total of 6 miles. Those who wish to stop when we head north to Hills Market will walk 3.6 miles. Walking pace will be about 18 minutes per mile or as comfortable for the group.
