DYKIM Collective: First Light in Times Square

DYKIM Collective: First Light in Times Square

Mon, May 25, 10:00 PM
From DYKIM Collective

This is the first gathering of the DYKIM Collective—a New York City fashion + creative community built for people who move with intention, style, and vision. We’re meeting in Times Square, not because it’s quiet, but because it’s alive. This is about being seen, taking up space, and stepping into identity without hesitation. Expect a casual meet-and-greet, street-style energy, creative networking, and space for conversation about fashion, personal branding, photography, styling, music, and building presence in NYC. This is not an exclusive industry event—it’s an emerging collective. Bring your perspective, your style, and your presence. Dress like you mean it. Location: Times Square (The Red Steps) Time: [6:00pm] Bring: Yourself, your vision, and a willingness to connect. DYKIM Collective is in its first chapter. This is the beginning of the run.

Volunteer Lab Work Session

Volunteer Lab Work Session

Thu, May 28, 8:30 PM
From Laptop Upcycle
5.0

Join us as a new volunteer for a Laptop Upcycle Lab work session. Laptop Upcycle Board members will open the lab and direct a work session in support of our future restart of donation and distribution activities. We will focus on three primary tasks at this meetup: 1. Analyze the Input/Donation table laptops and categorize them for inventory tracking. 2. Test and verify "ready" laptops on the distribution shelves and document them appropriately. 3. Form a team and initiate design activities for a lab PXE server in support of our restart operations. General computer experience and some Linux experience may be helpful for the first two tasks, while the PXE server team may need a bit more relevant technical background. Importantly, we're looking to form teams that support and train each other with the shared mission of restarting the lab for local students later this Summer. Come with a positive attitude and a desire to give back to the community while learning some new things and meeting some like-minded people. Please contact us via the messaging tool here if you have questions. We hope to see you!

If it's your first time, please reach out via DM here to confirm, and share what instrument, etc.] Open to acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass, keyboards and vocalists. In this guided jam, we will play a large variety of songs from beginner to intermediate level at a location in Manhattan, midtown west neighborhood (near Port Authority). Rather than music lessons (and those are also available), what we supply is a playground for "talented amateurs" from beginner to intermediate level a chance to play with other people. We don't require a week-in, week-out commitment, but sign-up is first-come, first-served. We play most popular music styles (pop, rock, country, jazz, soul, folk, etc) and we'll try just about anything. As a group, we will work on specific songs we're focusing on, as well as try new things off the cuff. Bring in whatever you want! We will build week over week on certain songs. The leader is happy to share material to help participants advance their abilities.
