Bronx Tennis @ Seton Park, Every Saturday Year 'Round

I have renewed our Saturday Year 'Round listing. We play every Saturday year 'round as long as it is at least 34 degrees and the courts are dry. This is a competitive tennis group requiring a certified rating of at least 3.0. We do not accept beginners. Saturday sessions are limited to eight (8) players plus a ninth designated reserve player, and we will have a waiting list. Check the "comments" section for the starting time each week, which will either be 11 AM in colder weather, or 10 AM as the weather heats up. Bring your tennis permit, a new can of balls and a positive attitude. Every member in good standing is invited as long as you register by midnight of the prior day, you are fully vaxxed, and you rate at least 3.0.

A casual show-and-tell meetup for people experimenting with digital minimalism and mindful technology use. Everyone is invited to share the habits, tools, boundaries, apps, dumbphones, screen-time setups, or personal rules that help them use technology more intentionally. Let's swap practical ideas, learn from each other, and leave with a few simple experiments to try.

Central Park Bird Walk

Bird, butterflies and dragonflies. We will explore the southern portion of Central Park from 59th street to 67th street visiting the Pond, Hallet Preserve, Gapstow Bridge and Dene Slope looking for birds, butterflies and dragonflies. Fireworks At Coney Island

PLEASE NOTE: The date of this Meetup has been changed due to to a rather nasty weather forecast making the likelihood of the fireworks being cancelled a strong possibility. **Friday, July 24th,** **We will meet at the base of the Parachute Jump at 7:30 PM** *Subway: F, Q, R, N trains to Coney Island Stillwell Avenue.* Coney Island has fireworks on the beach every Friday during the summer. It's the perfect place to shoot some long exposures or practice sunset and low-light evening photography. So get ready for some sunset photography. After the sun goes down, we can shoot long exposures of the rides and attractions in anticipation of the main event: the fireworks! The fireworks start at 9:45 PM. Luna Park recommends that the main area of the amusement park is one of the best places to watch the sky light up above the rides. The boardwalk or the beach itself are also great viewpoints. Those who aren't interested in the fireworks can continue shooting long exposures of the rides. Tripods would be useful at this Meetup, but owners need to be mindful of the amusement park rules, and careful of other people when using them. Otherwise, all cameras, cell phones and picture-taking devices of all sorts are welcome, as are all persons at any skill level. Just come and enjoy an evening at the seaside. Please be on time! The NYC Subway System is a hellscape of unimaginable delays that will wreak havoc on your mind, body, schedule, and soul. Plan your trip with some extra time! *However, at this meetup we won’t be far away and should be easy to find on the boardwalk if you should arrive late.* Details of this event may be added or changed at any time, so please check in periodically on this page. **A Night of Collective Sound + Vision** Join us every 3rd Friday for an evening of improvised ambient music and live visuals. Everyone's welcome, whether you want to play, project, or just relax and listen. **What happens:** Musicians and sound artists create evolving ambient soundscapes together using instruments, voice, or sound equipment. Visual artists and VJs share abstract videos and experimental imagery on screen. Think part performance, part meditation, part creative experiment. Each night is different depending on who participates. **How to join in:** * Music: Open to everyone, anytime during the event. Bring your instrument or use ours. * Visuals: First-come, first-served slots (15-20 minutes each). Bring your laptop. **The vibe:** There’s no setlist, no headliner, just a free-flowing mix of collaboration and exploration. You can join in or relax in the cozy lounge area and take it all in.
