SDD: Designing Policy, Product & Practice in Healthcare

SDD: Designing Policy, Product & Practice in Healthcare

Mon, Oct 5, 4:30 PM
From Thoughtworks Berlin
4.5

This event is organized by Service Design Drinks Berlin. Thoughtworks is hosting the event as collaboration partner. **[PLEASE REGISTER ON SDD Website with this Link](https://www.sddberlin.com/events/designing-policy%2C-product-%26-practice-in-healthcare)** **Service Design Drinks Berlin** **Designing Policy, Product & Practice in Healthcare** **About the Event** Healthcare is where design gets real. Every product, service and space has to work for patients and clinicians under pressure, and within a dense web of regulation, data protection and clinical reality. For our third collaboration with UX Healthcare Europe, we're bringing that tension into one room. As the official community pre-event of UX Healthcare Berlin (October 7–8), this special edition looks at healthcare design from three angles: * **Policy.** Before a health product reaches a single patient in Germany, it has to make its way through medical device regulation, data protection and reimbursement rules. **Preetha Moorthy,** Usability Engineer & UX Consultant at Heidelberg University (Mannheim), leads the M²AXI lab, where she designs and evaluates digital health technologies. In her talk Design challenges in designing health technologies, she shows what it takes to build usable, human-centered health tech within the requirements and restrictions of the German market. * **Product.** **Noah Petermann**, Co-Founder of Aniva Health, is building preventive diagnostics that turn a single blood draw into 100+ biomarkers, clinician-reviewed insights and a personal action plan. With a background in health-tech and biotech startups and venture capital, he uses Aniva as the example to show what it takes to build a health product in Germany: how the product came together, the challenges along the way, and what actually worked for them. * **Practice.** **Scott Marin**, MD, Emergency Physician, Design Clinician and Founder of Northern Insights Innovation, brings more than a decade of clinical and leadership experience across the Canadian Arctic. In Procedural wayfinding in healthcare, he shows how service design thinking can shape the way clinicians move through a space while carrying out procedures in critical care. \-\-\- Expect three 15-minute lightning talks, followed by three discussion tables on policy, product and practice, each hosted by one of our speakers, so you can dig deeper, ask your questions and bring your own experience. \-\-\- **Live graphic recording:** Illustrator and graphic recorder **Buffie Nguyen** will capture the talks and conversations live, turning the evening's key ideas into visuals as they happen. \-\-\- And then, as always: drinks, snacks, networking and the conversations only this community has. \-\-\- **On the Agenda** **18:30 – 19:00:** Doors open & check-in **19:00 – 19:15**: Welcome by SDD Berlin, Thoughtworks & UX Healthcare **19:15 – 19:30**: Lightning Talk 1: Preetha Moorthy **19:30 – 19:45**: Lightning Talk 2: Noah Petermann **19:45 – 20:00**: Lightning Talk 3: Scott Marin **20:00 – 20:40**: Discussion tables: Policy · Product · Practice **from 20:40**: Networking with drinks & snacks \-\-\- **About the speakers** * **Preetha Moorthy** Usability Engineer & UX Consultant · Heidelberg University (Mannheim) **Lightning talk: Design challenges in designing health technologies** Designing a health product in Germany means designing for far more than your users. Regulation, certification, data protection and reimbursement shape what's possible long before the first prototype is tested. Preetha shares what it really takes to build usable, human-centered health technology within the requirements and restrictions of the German market, and where policy and design meet (and sometimes collide). **About Preetha:** She is a usability engineer and researcher at Heidelberg University, working at the intersection of HCI and healthcare. She leads the M²AXI lab and focuses on designing and evaluating digital health technologies, with a particular interest in usability and human-centered approaches to healthcare technology. * **Noah Petermann** Co-Founder · Aniva Health **Lightning talk: How to launch diagnostics within your brand in weeks.** What does it really take to build a health product in Germany? Using Aniva Health as the example, Noah walks us through the product itself (one blood draw, 100+ biomarkers, clinician-reviewed insights and a personal action plan) and the journey behind it: the challenges the team faced along the way, and what actually worked for them. **About Noah:** He is co-founder and CEO of Aniva Health, a Berlin-based health-tech company building the infrastructure for preventive, data-driven medicine, with blood-draw locations across Germany. Before founding Aniva, he worked with VC-backed health-tech and biotech startups and in venture capital, and studied at Humboldt University of Berlin. * **Scott Marin** MD Emergency Physician, Design Clinician & Founder · Northern Insights Innovation **Lightning talk: Procedural wayfinding in healthcare** In critical care, finding your way through a space and carrying out a procedure happen at the same time, and each shapes the other. Procedural wayfinding, a term Scott coined, looks at exactly that interaction. Scott walks us through how to apply service design thinking to wayfinding in clinical procedural environments, with concrete strategies, techniques and short examples from emergency care. **About Scott:** He is an emergency physician, design clinician and founder of Northern Insights Innovation. Drawing on more than a decade of clinical and leadership experience across the Canadian Arctic, he explores how people navigate complex systems under pressure, turning frontline insights into safer, clearer and more humane services. Some of you will remember him from our last SDD × UX Healthcare edition. Welcome back, Scott! \-\-\- **About UX Healthcare Europe** Since 2018, UX Healthcare has brought together healthcare professionals, designers and researchers from around the world to transform the patient experience and clinician workflows through user-centered design. In 2026, the community meets in Rotterdam, Berlin and Singapore. **UX Healthcare Berlin 2026** 📅 October 7–8, 2026 📍 adesso SE, Prinzenstraße 34, 10969 Berlin 🎟️ Tickets: [uxhealthcare.co/tickets](http://uxhealthcare.co/tickets) \-\-\- **Please note** This is a free community event made possible by the generosity of our speakers, hosts and partners. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, even for ticket holders. Out of respect for everyone in the room, please arrive on time: doors open at 18:30 and talks start at 19:00. The Invisible Funnel: What actually works in AI Visibility | DeepL x Semrush

The Invisible Funnel: What actually works in AI Visibility | DeepL x Semrush

Wed, Sep 30, 5:00 PM
From SaaS Marketers Connect - powered by DeepL
4.7

**📅 Wednesday\, 30th September \| 6–8pm** **📍 DeepL Office, Berlin Mitte (see practical info below)** **Topic:** The Invisible Funnel: what actually works in AI visibility, and what the evidence says doesn't **This session:** Every marketing team is now being sold a number for how visible their brand is inside AI answers. Very few can say what that number actually measures. We've teamed up with [Anton Andrusenko, Senior PM AI Lab at Semrush](https://www.linkedin.com/in/anton-andrusenko/) to look for for the evidence: controlled experiments, independent benchmarks, academic research, and the vendor studies behind today's AI visibility claims. **In this 30-min. session we will cover:** * **Clicks and traffic:** what the research really shows about AI answers and referral behaviour. * **Retrieval and selection:** how AI systems find and choose sources, and what that means for what you publish. * **Tactics under test:** which optimisation moves hold up under testing, and which are just confident guessing. * **Why the tools disagree:** how two platforms can give the same brand very different visibility scores. **Q&A with Guests** Bring your questions. This is an open conversation and all perspectives are welcome. **Happy Hour** Wind down with drinks, pizza and a great company. **Practical Info** 🚪 Doors open at 5:30 PM (please arrive by 6:15 PM for registration at reception) 📍 WeWork / DeepL Office, 2nd Floor · Neue Schönhauser Str. 3–5, 10178 Berlin 🎟️ Spots are limited, grab yours now See you there! Shivaratri Meditation (in Berlin)

Shivaratri Meditation (in Berlin)

Thu, Oct 8, 7:30 PM
From Yoga and Tantra Yoga Events Berlin
4.8

Free of charge \| Event series 2026 \| MahaYoga Zentrum **Presentation in English about:** * „The Astrological Quality of Time for the Month“ & „Specifics of the Special Moment of Shivaratri“: 21:30 – 22:30 * **Meditation for the Moment of Shivaratri:** 22:30 – 00:00 The sages use many methods to remain awake and attentive in every moment. However, the lower mind can obstruct this wakeful and alert state if we are not aware of this instrument – our mind – and its place in our lives. Without this awareness, we allow it to be driven by lower impulses and the (collective) unconscious, leading us away from our true potential. The time around the new moon favors the stillness of the lower mind, allowing access to a higher state of pure perception. This state enables us to connect our consciousness to the universal mind (Shiva) and uncover the essential truth behind every experience. As meditating together in a group amplifies the effects, we gather monthly for the „Night of Shiva“ to experience this collective energy. Beforehand, an experienced astrologer will present the astrological quality of the moment of Shivaratri, including an outlook on the time quality of the upcoming month. Becoming aware of the astrological quality of time helps align our lives with the „Big Picture,“ bringing us closer to harmony with the cosmos and the divine will. It also helps to create an awareness of subtle nuances that can be absorbed and felt during the subsequent meditation. Afterward, there will be an introduction to the question: „What is Shivaratri, and why is it especially valuable to meditate at this moment?“ We will gain valuable insights from an experienced yoga teacher on the role of Shiva in our personal lives. We will then meditate together for 1,5 hours. Since this is a long meditation, please wear comfortable clothing. We have cushions and seating available, but chairs are also provided. It’s best to come on an empty stomach. Drinks can be brought into the yoga hall in closed containers. #### **Event dates 2026** * 16th of January * 15th of February (Maha Shivaratri) * 17th of March * 15th of April * No event in May * 13th of June * 12th of July * 11th of August * 9th of September * 8th of October * 7th of November * 6th of December You can write questions to berlin@traditionelles-yoga.de We look forward to celebrating Shivaratri with you.
