Beyond Small Talk – Culture Clash Berlin
Sat, Sep 5, 2:00 PM🌍 **Culture Clash Berlin** Beyond Small Talk. What can a language reveal about the way we think? Why does "polite" mean something completely different across cultures? How much should family influence our choices? What makes a place feel like home? And why can the same gesture feel warm in one culture and strange in another? **Culture Clash Berlin** is a recurring meetup for curious people who enjoy exploring the ideas, experiences and little cultural differences that shape how we see the world — and each other. Every meetup explores **18 different cultural dimensions**. Instead of staying with just one topic, we move across different aspects of life — with one thought-provoking question for each category. **💬 18 Topics. 18 Questions.** 🗣️ **Language & Communication** What does your language make easier — or harder — to express? 🌍 **Culture & Identity** How much of who you are comes from the cultures you grew up with? 🏛️ **Traditions & Modern Life** Which traditions still matter to you — and which ones should we let go? 👨👩👧 **Family & Generations** How much influence should family have over the way we live our lives? ❤️ **Love & Dating** What feels romantic in one culture but completely strange in another? 🤝 **Friendship & Social Connection** When does an acquaintance become a real friend? 🍽️ **Hospitality & Food** What does being a good host actually mean? 🎵 **Music & Cultural Memory** What song could tell someone your life story without using words? ⏰ **Time & Punctuality** Is being late really disrespectful — or just culturally relative? 🧍 **Personal Space & Body Language** How much can body language change the meaning of the same words? 💼 **Work & Professional Culture** How much of your personality should you bring to work? 💰 **Money & Status** Why are some cultures comfortable talking about money while others avoid it? 🙏 **Religion & Beliefs** How do traditions and beliefs shape everyday life — even when we don't consider ourselves religious? ⚖️ **Gender & Social Expectations** Which expectations about men and women have shaped you? 🏠 **Home, Migration & Belonging** Can you feel at home in more than one place? 🧓 **Generational Change** What do younger generations understand differently from their parents? 🪞 **Stereotypes & Cultural Misunderstandings** Which stereotype about your culture contains a tiny grain of truth — and which one is completely wrong? 🧠 **Language, Culture & the Way We Think** Does speaking another language actually change who we are? **💬 How does an evening work?** We'll use thought-provoking questions, cultural scenarios, personal stories, music and small-group discussions to get the conversation going. You might find yourself discussing a Persian expression with someone from Spain, comparing dating traditions with someone from Germany, or debating the meaning of "home" with someone who has lived in three different countries. There are no correct answers. The interesting part is discovering why we see the same question so differently. And sometimes the best conversations happen when someone says: *"I've never thought about it that way before."* **🌍 Who is this for?** For people who are genuinely curious about people, cultures, languages, music, society and the way we see the world. You don't need to be an expert. You don't need to come from a multicultural background. You don't need to speak a particular language. Just bring curiosity, an open mind and your own perspective. **Come with a question.** **Leave with a different perspective.** 🌍 **Different backgrounds. Different answers. Better conversations.** ### 📍**Meeting Point & Picnic** We'll meet in front of the boothaus Stella am Lietzensee and then walk together to a nice spot by the lake for our picnic and conversations. 🌿 Bring something to sit on — blankets are very welcome! 🧺 Feel free to also bring a snack or drink to share, but no pressure. 😊

Museum & Brunch: Sambar, Stories & Impressionism
Sat, Sep 5, 7:45 AMSpend your Saturday morning exploring great food, beautiful art, and even better conversations. We’ll *begin with an authentic South Indian brunch at* ***Anjappar*** *before* making our way to the **Alte Nationalgalerie** to **discover the Cassirer Exhibitio**n together. Rather than walking through the galleries alone, we’ll explore the stories behind the artists, notice details we might otherwise miss, and enjoy discussing our favourite works along the way. *Whether you’ve never stepped into a museum before or you’re already an art lover*, this experience is designed to be relaxed, welcoming, and beginner-friendly. No art history knowledge required—just curiosity. ✨ **What to expect** 🍛 *South Indian Brunch* Meet the group over Anjappar’s South Indian buffet and ease into the morning with good food and conversation. 🎨 *Art Stories Before We Begin* Before entering the museum, our co-host—an art enthusiast and regular museum visitor—will share a short introduction to the Cassirer Exhibition, the artists you’ll encounter, and a few fascinating details to watch out for. Think of it as a friendly introduction that helps you enjoy the exhibition with fresh eyes. 🖼️ *Explore Together* We’ll walk through the exhibition as a group, pausing to chat, ask questions, and share different perspectives. This isn’t an art history lecture or a formal guided tour—it’s **simply a chance to discover art together** in a relaxed and approachable way. 💛 **Perfect if you…** * have always wanted to visit a museum but didn’t know where to start * love museums (or want to start exploring them) * enjoy thoughtful conversations * like meeting people through shared experiences * appreciate good food as much as good art 🍛 **Just here for brunch?** **You’re more than welcome to join us** for the brunch and conversations, **even if you’d prefer to skip the museum** afterwards. 📅 Saturday, 5 September (TBC) 🕙 10:00 AM 📍 Anjappar, Berlin ➡️ Followed by the Cassirer Exhibition at the Alte Nationalgalerie 💛 **Please note**: * Everyone purchases their own brunch and museum ticket. * Panipuri Tribe participation fee: €12 (regular), €9 (early bird) | No refunds *Pay via PayPal*: https://www.paypal.me/ssuhany — choose Friends & Family (please add your name in the note) * If you’re joining just for brunch, you’re welcome to head home afterwards * Women only We can’t wait to spend a slow Saturday morning filled with flavour, fascinating stories, and beautiful art with you. 🎨✨
